¹ When a man hath taken a wife and maryed her, yf she fynde no fauoure in his eies, because he hath spied some vnclennesse in her. Then let hym wryte her a bylle of deuorcement & put it in her hande and sende her out of hys house. ² If when she is departed out of hys house, she go and be another mans wif ³ and the seconde husbande hate her & wryte her a letter of deuorcement & put it in her hande & sende her out of his house: or yf the seconde man dye whiche toke her to wyfe, ⁴ her fyrst man which sent her awaye may not take her agayne to be hys wyfe, in as moch as she is defyled. For that is abhomynacion in the syght of the Lorde: that thou defyle not the land with sinne, which the Lord thy god geueth the to enheret. ⁵ When a man taketh a newe wife, he shal not go a warrefare nether shalbe charged wt any busynesse: but shalbe fre at home one yere & reioyse with hys wyfe which he hath taken. ⁶ No man shal take the neather or the vppermylstone to pledge, for then he taketh a mans lyfe to pledge. ⁷ If any man be found stealyng any of hys brethren the chyldren of Israel, & maketh cheuesaunce of hym or selleth him, the thefe shall dye. And thou shalt put euell away from the. ⁸ Take heade to thy selfe as concernynge the plage of leprosye, that thou obserue dyligently to do accordyng to all that the Preastes the Leuites shall teache the, as I commaunded them so ye shal obserue to do. ⁹ Remembre what the Lord thy God dyd vnto Miriam by the waye, after that ye were come out of Egypte. ¹⁰ If thou lende thy brother any maner socoure, thou shalt not go in to hys house to fetche a pledge: ¹¹ but shalt stande without & the man to whom thou lendest, shall brynge the pledge out at the dore. ¹² Forthermore yf it be a pore body, go not to slepe wt hys pledg ¹³ but delyuer hym the pledge agayne by that the sonne go doune, & let him slepe in hys awne rayment and blesse the. And it shalbe ryghteousnes vnto the, before the Lord thy god. ¹⁴ Thou shalt not defraude an hyred seruaunte that is nedye and poore whether he be of thy brethren or a straunger that is in thy land ¹⁵ with in thy cyties. Geue him his hyre the same daye, and let not the sonne go doune theron. For he is nedye and therwith susteyneth hys lyfe, lest he crye agaynst the vnto the Lord and it be synne vnto the. ¹⁶ The fathers shal not dye for the chyldren nor the children for the fathers: but euery man shal dye for his awne synne. ¹⁷ Hynder not the ryght of the straunger nor of the fatherlesse, nor take wedowes rayment to pledge. ¹⁸ But remembre that thou wast a seruaunte in Egypte, and how the Lord thy God delyuered the thence. Wherfore I commaunde the to do this thyng. ¹⁹ When thou cuttest doune thy herueste in the feeld & hast forgotte a shefe in the feelde thou shalt not go agayne and fett it: But it shalbe for the straunger, the fatherlesse & the wydowe, that the Lord thy God may blesse the in all the workes of thyne hande. ²⁰ When thou beatest doune thyne olyue trees thou shalt not make cleane riddaunce after the: but it shalbe for the straunger, the fatherlesse & the wydowe. ²¹ And when thou gatherest they venyarde, thou shalt not gather cleane after the: but it shalbe for the straunger, the fatherlesse & the wyddow. ²² And remembre that thou wast a seruaunt in the land of Egipte: wherfore I commaunde the to do this thinge.

¹ And the Lorde spake vnto Moses & vnto Aaron saying: ² when there appeareth a risyng in any mans flesh ether a scabbe or a glystring whyte: as though the plage of leprosye were in the skynne of hys fleshe, then let hym be brought vnto Aaron the Preaste or vnto one of hys sonnes the Preastes, ³ and let the Preast loke on the sore that is in the skynne of hys flesh. If the heyre in the soore be turned vnto white, & the sore also seme to be lower then the skynne of his fleshe, then it is surely a leprosye, & let the Preast loke on hym, & iudge hym vncleane. ⁴ If there be but a whyte plecke in the skynne of his flesh, and seme not to be lower then the other skynne nor the heyre therof is turned vnto whyte: then let the Preast shut him vp seuen daies. ⁵ And let the Preast loke vpon him the .vij. day: yf the sore seme to hym to abyde styl & to go no further in the skynne, then let the Preast shut hym vp yet .vij. dayes moo. ⁶ And let the Preast loke on him agayn the .vij. day. Then yf the soore be waxed blackesh, & is not growen abroode in the skynne, let the Preast make him cleane, for it is but a skyrf. And let hym wasshe his clothes, & then he is cleane. ⁷ But & yf the scabbe growe in the skynne after that he is sene of the Preast agayne. ⁸ If the Preast se that the scabbe be growen abrode in the skynne, let him make him vncleane: for it is surely a leprosye. ⁹ If the plage of leprosie be in a man, let him be brought vnto the Preast, ¹⁰ & let the Preaste se hym. If the rysyng appeare whyte in the skynne, & haue also made the heyre whyte, & there be rawe flesh in the sore also: ¹¹ then it is an old leprosye in the skynne of his flesh. And the Preast shall iudge him vnclene, and shal not shutte hym vp for he is vncleane. ¹² If a leprosye breake out in the skynne and couer all the skynne from the heed to the foote ouer all whersoeuer the Preast loketh, ¹³ then let the Preast loke vpon hym. If the leprosye haue couered al his fleshe, let hym iudge the dysease clene: for in as moche as he is altogether whyte he is therfore cleane. ¹⁴ But and yf there be rawe flesh on him when he is sene, then he shalbe vncleane. ¹⁵ Therfore when the Preast seeth the rawe flesh, let him iudge hym vnclene. For in as moche as hys fleshe is rawe, he is vnclene and it is surely a true leprosye. ¹⁶ But and yf the rawe flesh departe agayne & chaunge vnto whyte, then let hym come to the prest, ¹⁷ & let the Preast se hym: If the soore be chaunged vnto whyte, let the Preast iudge the dysease cleane, and then he is cleane. ¹⁸ When there is a byle in the skynne of any mans flesh and is healed ¹⁹ & after in the place of the byle there appeare a whyte rysing ether a shynyng whyte somwhat reddysh, let hym be sene of the Preast. ²⁰ If when the Preast seyth hym it appeare lower than the other skynne & the heyre therof be chaunged vnto white, let the Preast iudge hym vncleane: for it is a very leprosye, that is broken out in the place of the byle. ²¹ But and yf when the Preast loketh on it there be no whyte heyres therin nether the scabbe lower then the other skynne and be somwhat blackesh, then the Preast shall shutt him aparte .vij. dayes. ²² If it sprede abrode in the meane ceason, then let the Preast iudge hym vncleane: for it is a leprosye. ²³ But and yf the glystrynge whyte abyde styl in one place & go no further, then it is but the prynte of the byle, and the Preast shall iudge hym cleane. ²⁴ When the skynne of any mans flesh is burnt with fyre that it be rawe & there appere in the burnyng a glistring whyte that is somwhat reddysh or altogether whyte, ²⁵ let the Preast loke vpon it. If the heyre in that bryghtnesse be chaunged to whyte, and it also appeare lower then the other skynne, then it is a leprosye that is broken out of the place of the burning. And the Preast shal iudge him vncleane, for it is a leprosye. ²⁶ But and yf (when the Preast loketh on it) he se that there is no whyte heyre in the bryghtenesse, & that it is no lower then the other skynne, & that it is also blackesh, then let the preast shut him vp .vij. dayes. ²⁷ And yf (when the Preast loketh on him the .vij. day) it be growen abrode in the skynne, let hym iudge hym vncleane: for it is a leprosye. ²⁸ But and yf that bryghtnesse abyde styl in one place & go no further in the skynne & be blackesh, then it is but a rysynge in the place of the burnynge, and the Preast shall make hym cleane: for it is but the prynte of the burnyng only. ²⁹ When ether man or woman hath a breakyng out vpon the heed or the beerde, let the preast se it. ³⁰ And yf it appeare lower than the other skynne, & ther be therin golden heyres & thyn, let the preast iudge hym vncleane, for it is a breakyng out of leprosye vpon the heed or berde. ³¹ If (when the Preast loketh on the breakynge out) he se that it is no lower then the other skynne & that there are blacke heyres therin, let hym shut hym vp .vij. dayes. ³² And let the preast loke on the dysease the .vij. day: & yf the breakyng out be gone no forther nether be any golden heyres therin nether the scabbe be lower then the other skynne, ³³ then let him be shauen, but let hym not shaue the scabbe: & let the preast shut hym vp .vij. dayes moo. ³⁴ And let the preast loke on the breakyng out the .vij. day agayn: If the breakynge out be gone no further in the skynne nor moore lower then the other skynne, then let the preast iudge hym cleane, and let hym wasshe hys clothes, & then he is cleane. ³⁵ If the breakyng out growe in the skynne after that he is once iudged cleane, ³⁶ let the Preast sea him. If it be growne abrode in dede in the skynne, let the preast seke no further for any golden heyres, for he is vncleane. ³⁷ But and yf he se that the scabbe stande styll, & that there is blacke heyre growne vp therin, then the scabbe is healed and he is cleane: & the Preast shal iudge him cleane. ³⁸ If there be found in the skynne of the flesh of man or woman a glysteryng whyte, ³⁹ let the Preast se it. If there appeare in theyr flesh a glysteryng whyte somwhat blackesh then it is but frekels growen vp in the skinne: and he is cleane. ⁴⁰ If a mans heyre fal of his heed, then he is heed baulde & cleane. ⁴¹ If his heyre fal before in his foreheed, then he is foreheedbald and cleane. ⁴² If there be in the bauld heed or bauld foreheed a reddish whyte scabbe, then there is leprosye spronge vp in hys baulde heed or baulde foreheede. ⁴³ And let the preast se it: and yf the rysyng of the sore be reddysh whyte in his baulde heede or foreheed after the maner of a leprosie in the skynne of the flesh, ⁴⁴ then he is a leper & vncleane: & the Preast shal iudge him vncleane, for the plage of his heed. ⁴⁵ And the leper in whome the plage is, shall haue his clothes rent & his heede bare & hys mouth moffeld, & shalbe called vncleane. ⁴⁶ And as long as the dysease lasteth vpon him, he shalbe vncleane: for he is vncleane, and shall therfore dwel alone, & euen without the host shal hys habitacion be.

⁵⁷ But and yf it appeare any more in the cloth ether in the warpe or in the woofe or in anye thynge made of skynne, then it is a waxyng plage. And se that ye burne that wyth fyre, wherin the plage is.

And he shal wash hys clothes and his flesh in water, and then he shalbe cleane. ¹⁰ And when the .viij. day is come, let him take .ij. lambes without blemyshe & a yewe lambe of a yere olde without blemysh, and .iij. tenth deales of fyne floure for a meatoffring myngled wyth oyle, and logge of oyle.

²⁴ Defyle not youre selues in any of these thynges, for wyth all these thynges are these nacions defyled whych I cast out before you ²⁵ and the land is defyled, and I wyll vyset the wykednesse therof vpon it, and the land shal spewe out her inhabiters. ²⁶ Kepe ye therfore myne ordinaunces and iudgementes, and se that ye commyt none of these abhominacions: nether any of you nor any straunger that soiourneth amonge you ²⁷ (for all these abhomynacions haue the men of the land done whyche were there before you, and the lande is defiled) ²⁸ lest that the land spewe you out when ye haue defyled it, as it spewed out the nacions that were there before you.

But thou shalt leaue them for the poore and straunger. I am the Lord your God.

²² When ye repe doune your haruest, thou shalt not make cleane reddaunce of thy feld, nether shalt thou make any aftergatheryng of thy haruest: but shalt leue them vnto the poore and the straunger. I am the lord your God.

³⁵ If thy brother be waxed pore and fallen in decay with the, receiue him as a straunger or a soiourner, & let him lyue by th ³⁶ And thou shalt take none vsurye of hym, nor yet vantage. But shalt feare thy God, that thy brother maye lyue wt the. ³⁷ Thou shalt not lend him thy money vpon vserye, nor lende hym of thy foode to haue aduantage bi it: ³⁸ for I am the Lorde youre God whyche broughte you out of the Lande of Egypte, to gyue you the land of Canaan & to be your God. ³⁹ If thy brother that dwelleth by the waxe poore and sell hym selfe vnto the, thou shalt not let him labour as a bond seruante doeth: ⁴⁰ but as an hyred seruaunte and as a soiourner he shal be with the, and shal serue the vnto the yere of iubelye, ⁴¹ & then shall he departe from the: both he and his chyldren wyth him, and shall returne vnto hys owne kynred againe, & vnto the possessions of his fathers: ⁴² for they are my seruauntes which I brought out of the Land of Egypt, and shall not be solde as bondemen. ⁴³ Se therefore that thou raygne not ouer hym cruelly, but feare thy God.

⁶ These are ensamples to vs that we should not luste after euyll thinges, as they lusted.

¹¹ Al these thinges happened vnto them for ensamples, and were written to put vs in remembraunce, whom the endes of the world are come vpon.

⁸ Thys saye I not as commaundyng: but because other are so feruente, therfore proue I youre loue, whether it be perfecte or no. ⁹ Ye knowe the lyberalytie of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, whiche though he were ryche, yet for youre sakes became pore that ye thorowe hys pouertye myght be made ryche.

⁶ Thys yet remember, howe that he whiche soweth lyttell, shal reape lyttell, & he that soweth plentuously, shall reape plentuously. ⁷ And let euery man do accordyng as he hath purposed in hys hert, not groundgingly, or of necessitie. For God loueth a chearefull geuer. ⁸ God is able to make you ryche in al grace that ye in al thynges hauyng suffycyent vnto the vttermoste, maye be ryche vnto all maner good workes,

¹³ whiche prayse God for the obedience of youre professyng the Gospell of Christe, and for youre synglenes in distrybutynge to them and to all men, ¹⁴ and in theyr prayers to God for you, long after you, for the aboundaunce grace of God geuen vnto you.

²⁶ Be angrye, but synne not, let not the sunne go doune vpon your wrath,

¹ Be ye folowers of God as deare children, ² and walke in loue euen as Christe loued vs, and gaue hym selfe for vs, an offeringe, and a sacrifice of a swete sauoure to God.

²⁸ So ought men to loue theyr wyues, as their owne bodies. He that loueth hys wyfe, loueth him selfe. ²⁹ For no man euer yet hated hys owne fleshe, but norisheth and cherisseth it euen as the Lorde doeth the congregation.

¹⁰ & whor mongers: to them that defyle them selues wyth mankynde: to menstealers, to lyars & to periured, and so forth yf there be any other thynge that is contrarye to holsome doctrine

¹⁶ The Lorde geue mercye vnto the house of Onesiphoras, for he ofte refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chayne: ¹⁷ but when he was at Rome, he sought me oute very dylygently, and founde me. ¹⁸ The Lorde graunte vnto hym that he maye fynde mercye with the Lorde at that daye. And in howe manye thinges he mynystred vnto me at Ephesus thou knowest very well.

⁴ to make the yong women sobre mynded, to loue theyr husbandes, to loue their chyldren, ⁵ to be dyscret, chast, huswyfly, good & obedyent vnto theyr owne husbandes, that the word of God be not euyl spoken of.

²⁷ Pure deuocyon and vndefyled before God the father is thys: to visite the fatherlesse and wyddowes in theyr aduersitye, and to kepe hym selfe vnspotted of the worlde.

⁶ But ye haue despysed the pore. Are not the ryche they whiche oppresse you: and they which drawe you before iudges?

¹³ For there shalbe iudgemente mercyles to hym, that sheweth no mercy, & mercy reioyseth against iudgemente. ¹⁴ What auayleth it my brethren, thoughe a man saye he hath faythe, when he hath no deedes? Can fayth saue hym? ¹⁵ If a brother or a sister be naked or destitute of dayly fode, ¹⁶ and one of you saye vnto them: Departe in peace, God sende you warmnes and fode: not wyth standynge ye geue them not those thynges which are nedefull to the bodye: what helpeth it them? ¹⁷ Euen so faythe, yf it haue no dedes is dead in it selfe. ¹⁸ Yea and a man myghte saye: Thou haste faythe, and I haue dedes: Shewe me thy faith by thy dedes, and I wyll shew the my faythe by my dedes. ¹⁹ Beleuest thou that there is one God? Thou doest well. The deuyls also beleue and tremble. ²⁰ Wylt thou vnderstande (O thou vayne man) that fayth without dedes is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham oure father iustifyed thorowe workes when he offered Isaac hys sonne vpon the aultare? ²² Thou seyste howe that faythe wroughte wyth hys dedes, & through the dedes was faythe made perfecte: ²³ and the scrypture was fulfylled whiche sayeth: Abraham beleued God, and it was reputed vnto hym for ryghtuousnes: and he was called the frende of God.

⁴ Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth

¹⁷ Whosoeuer hath this worldes good, and seeth his brother haue nede, and shutteth vp his compassion from him, howe dwelleth the loue of God in hym? ¹⁸ My babes, let vs not loue in worde neyther in tonge, but wyth the dede and in veryty: ¹⁹ For therby we know that we are of the verytye, and can before him quyete oure hertes.

¹⁰ Herin is loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, & sente his sonne to make agrement for our synnes. ¹¹ Beloued yf God so loued vs we oughte also to loue one another.

¹³ & sinamome, and odoures, and oyntmentes, & frankinsence, and wine, and oyle, and fine floure, and wheat, beastes, and shepe, and horsses, & charrettes, and bodyes, and soules of men.

²² And the voice of harpers, & musicions, and of pipers, & trompeters, shalbe hearde no more in the, and no craftes man, of whatsoeuer crafte he be, shalbe founde any more in the, & the sound of a myl, shalbe hard no more in the,
