¹ When a man hath taken a wife and maryed her, yf she fynde no fauoure in his eies, because he hath spied some vnclennesse in her. Then let hym wryte her a bylle of deuorcement & put it in her hande and sende her out of hys house.

¹⁰ If he take him another wife yet her fode, rayment and dutye of mariage shall he not mynyshe.

¹⁵ If a man haue two wyues, one loued & another hated, and they haue borne him children, both the loued & also the hated.

¹³ If a man take a wife & when he hath lyen with her hate her,

¹⁹ and mearce hym in an hundred sycles of syluer and geue them vnto the father of the damsell, because he hath brought vp an euell name vpon a mayde in Israel. And she shalbe his wyfe, and he may not put her awaye al his dayes.

²⁹ Then the man that laye with her shal geue vnto the damsels father .l. sycles of syluer. And she shall be his wyfe, because he hath humbled her, & he maye not put her a waye all his dayes.

³ and the seconde husbande hate her & wryte her a letter of deuorcement & put it in her hande & sende her out of his house: or yf the seconde man dye whiche toke her to wyfe,

¹ Thus sayeth the Lorde: Where is the byll of your mothers deuorcement, that I sente vnto her or who is the vsurer, to whome I solde you? Beholde, for youre owne offences are ye solde: & because of youre transgression, is youre mother forsaken.

⁸ Namely, that after I had well sene the aduoutrye of the shrynkynge harlot Israel. I put her awaye, and gaue her a byl of deuorcement. For al this, her vnfaithfull syster Iuda was not ashamed, but went backe and plaied the whore also.

¹⁶ Yf thou hatest her, put her awaye, sayeth the Lord God of Israel, & geue her a clothinge for the scorne, sayeth the Lord of hostes. Loke wel then to your spirit, & despise her not.

¹⁹ Then Ioseph her husbande beinge a perfecte man and loth to make an ensample of her, was mynded to put her awaye secretly.

³¹ It is sayed, whosoeuer putteth a way his wife, let him geue her a testimonial of the deuorcement. ³² But I sai vnto you: whosoeuer putteth away his wife (except it be for fornicacion) causeth her to breke matrimony. And whosoeuer marieth her that is deuorced, breaketh wedlocke.

⁷ Then sayd they to him: why did Moyses commaund to geue a testimoniall of diuorcement, & to put her awaye? ⁸ He sayde vnto them: Moyses because of the hardnes of youre hertes suffred you to put away your wyfes: But from the beginning it was not so. ⁹ I say therfore vnto you, whosoeuer putteth awaye hys wyfe, (except it he for fornicacion) & marieth another, breaketh wedloke. And whosoeuer maryeth her, which is diuorced, doth commit aduoutry.

⁴ And they sayde: Moyses suffred to write a testimoniall of deuorcement, and to put her awaye. ⁵ And Iesus aunswered and sayde vnto them: For the hardnes of your hertes he wrote this precept vnto you. ⁶ But at the first creacion God made them man and woman. ⁷ And for this thinges seke shall man leaue his father and mother, & byde by hys wyfe, ⁸ and they twayne shall be one fleshe. So then are they nowe not twayne but one fleshe. ⁹ Therfore what God hath coupled, let not man separate: ¹⁰ And in the house hys discyples axed hym agayne of the matter. ¹¹ And he sayed vnto them: Whosoeuer putteth awaye hys wyfe and maryeth an other breaketh wedlocke to her ward ¹² And yf a woman forsake her husbande & be maryed to an other she commytteth aduoutrye.

¹⁸ Whosoeuer forsaketh his wyfe and maryeth another, breaketh matrimony. And euery man which maryeth her that is deforsed from her husbande comitteth aduoutrye also.

¹¹ Yf she separate her selfe, let her remayne vnmaryed, or be reconcilied to her husband againe. And let not the husband put away his wife from him. ¹² To the remnaunte speake I and not the Lord. Yf anye brother haue a wyfe that beleued not, if she be contente to dwel with hym, let him not put her awaye.
