¹⁰ Whervpon Asa was wrothe with the sear and put hym in the conuertynge house, for he was dyspleased wyth him because of that. Moreouer Aza oppressed certayne of the people the same ceason.

⁴ And Dauid sente messengers and fet her, and she came vnto hym, & he laye with her. And she was straight waye puryfyed from her vnclennesse, & returned vnto her house.

¹⁰ And Dauids herte smote him after that he had nombred the people. And he sayde vnto the Lorde: I haue sinned excedingly in that I haue done. And nowe Lorde take away the trespace of thy seruaunt: for I haue done folishely. ¹¹ And when Dauid was vp in a mornynge the worde of the Lorde came vnto the prophete Gad Dauids sear sayinge: ¹² go, and saye vnto Dauid, this sayeth the Lord: I offer the thre thinges, chose whyche of them I shal do to the. ¹³ And Gad came to Dauid and shewed him and sayde vnto hym: whether wilt thou haue seuen yeares hunger in thy lande, or that thou flee thre monethes before thyne enemies, and they folowyng the, or that there be thre daies pestilence in thy lande. Now vnderstand and se, what worde I shal brynge agayne to hym that sent me. ¹⁴ Then sayd Dauid vnto Gad: I am in a maruelous straite. But let me falle I praye the, into the handes of the Lorde, for muche is hys mercy, and let me not fall into the handes of men.

²⁶ & saye: thus saith the kinge: put this felow in preson, and fede him with bread & water of tribulacion, vntyl I come agayne in peace.

¹⁶ And as the prophet spake to him, he sayde to the prohhete: haue men made the of the kynges councell? cease, leste thou be beaten. And the prophete ceased and sayde: I am sure that God hath taken councell to destroye the, because thou hast done this, and obeyest not my councell.

⁵ Let the righteous rather smite me frindly, & reproue me: so will I take it, as though he had poured oyle vpon my head: it shall not hurt my head, yea, I will praye yet for theyr wickednesse.

⁷ Who so reproueth a scornefull personne, getteth hym self dishonour: & he that rebuketh the vngodly stayneth him self. ⁸ Reproue not a scorner, lest he owe the euel wil: but rebuke a wise man, & he wil loue the. ⁹ Geue a discrete man but an occasion, & he wilbe the wiser, teache a righteous man, and he will increase.

²³ & wyll put it in theyr hande that trouble the: whiche haue spoken to thy soule: stoupe doune, that we maye go ouer the: make thy body eauen with the grounde, and as the strete to go vpon.

²³ And when thei had beaten them sore, they caste them into pryson, commaundynge the iayler to kepe them surelye. ²⁴ Which iaylar when he had receyued such commaundemente thruste them into the ynner pryson, and made theyr fete fast in the stockes.
