¹ And Dauid and the captaines of the hoste appoynted out to do seruice, the sonnes of Asaph of Heman and Iduthun, whiche dyd prophesie with harpes psalteries & symbales: & the multytude of them were men to do seruyce in their offices.

⁵ After that thou shalt come to the hyll of God, where the Philistines kepe theyr watche. And when thou art come thyther to that cytye, thou shalt mete a companye of Prophetes comyng doune from the hyll, with a psalter, a tymbrell, a pype, and an harp before them & they prophesying.

¹⁵ But now bryng my a mynstrel. And as the mynstrel played, the hand of the Lord was vpon him.

³³ These are they that wayted with theyr children of the sonnes of Cahath: Heman a synger, whyche was the sonne of Ioel, the sonne of Samuel.

³⁹ And his brother Asaph stode on his ryght hande, whych was the sonne of Barachiah, the sonne of Samaa:

⁴⁴ And theyr brethren the sonnes of Merari stode on the lefte hand: Ethan the sonne of Chusi, the sonne of Abdi, the sonne of Maloch:

²⁸ And Zadock a younge man of greate power had hys fathers housholde wyth Capitaynes .xxij.

¹⁶ And Dauid spake to the chefe heades of the Leuites, that they should appoynte of theyr brethren to synge wt instrumentes of musycke psalteries, harpes & symbales that sounded, and to synge on hye with Ioyfulnesse. ¹⁷ And the Leuites appoynted Heman the sonne of Ioel: and of his brethren, Asaph the sonne of Barachiah. And of the sonnes of Merari theyr brethren: Ethan the sonne of Cusaiahu. ¹⁸ And with them theyr brethren of the seconde degree: Zachariah, Ben, Iaaziel, Semiramoth Iahiel, Vni, Eliab, Banaiah, Maasiah, Mathathiah, Eliphelehu, Makaniah, Obed, Edom and Iaiel, porters. ¹⁹ Heman, Asah and Ethan sange with symbales of brasse to make a sound. ²⁰ And Zachariah, Oziel, Semiramoth, Iehiel, Ani, Eliab, Maasaiah and Bananiah sang with psalteris on an Almoth. ²¹ And Mathathiah, Eliphelehu, Makeniah, Obed Edom, Ieiel, and Ozaziah sange with harpes and eight aboue the courage with all.

⁴ And he appoynted certayne of the Leuites to ministre before the Lorde, and to repete, & to thanke and prayse the Lord God of Israel ⁵ euen Asaph the chefe, and next to him Zachariah then Ieiel, Semiramoth, Iehiel, Mathathiah, Eliab, Banaiah, Obed Edom, and Ieiel with Psalteries & Harpes. ⁴¹ And wyth them Heman and Iduthun, and other that were chosen and named by name, to thanke the Lord that hys mercye lasteth euer. ⁴² And wyth the sayde Heman and Iduthun were trompettes & soundyng simbales, & instrumentes of the melody of God. And the sonnes of Iduthun were porters.

² And then he gathered together al the Lordes of Israel wt the pryestes & the Leuites.

⁵ Four thousand were porters and four thousand praised the Lord with suche instrumentes as Dauid had made to prayse with all. ⁶ And Dauid put an ordre amonge the chyldren of Leui: Gerson, Cahath and Merari: ⁷ Of the Gersonites was Laadan and Semei:

⁵ And they put them in order by lot, one wyth another, that there shoulde be rulers in the sanctuarye and Lordes before God as well of the sonnes of Ithamar, as of the sonnes of Eleazar. ⁶ And Semeiah the sonne of Nathaneel the Scribe of the Leuites wrote them before the kynge and the Lordes, and before Zadock the pryeste, and Ahimelek the sonne of Abiathar, & before the auncient heades of the priestes & of the Leuites: one principal houshould for Eleazar and one for Ithamar.

³ The sonnes of Iduthun: Godoliah, Zuri, Isaiah, Rasabiah and Mathathiah, Semei, syxe, at the handes of their fathers Iduthun wyth harpes: which Iduthun prophesyed for to thanke and prayse the Lord.

¹ And in the seuenth yeare Iehoiada toke hert, & made a bonde wt the capitaynes of hundredes Azariah the sonne of Iehoram, Ismael the sonne of Iohanan, Azariah the sonne of Obed, Maasiah the sonne of Adaiah and Elisaphat the sonne of Zechri.

⁹ And Iehoiada the prieste delyuered to the captaynes of hundredes speares & shildes & boukelars that pertaineth to king Dauid, and were in the house of God.

¹³ And when she sawe the kynge stande at his pyler in the enterynge, and the Lordes and trompetes about the kynge, and all the people of the lande reioysynge and blowing wyth trompetes, and the syngers with instrumentes of musycke teachinge to prayse. Then she rent her clothes and cryed: treason treason.

²⁵ And they set the Leuites in the house of the Lorde with symbales, psalteries and harpes accordynge to the commaundement of Dauid & of Gad the kynges sear of visions & of Nathan the prophete. For so was the coumaundement of the Lorde thorow the hande of his prophetes. ²⁶ And so the Leuites stode with the instrumentes of Dauid, & the preastes with trompettes.

² And Hezekiah set the preastes and the Leuites in theyr ordre to wayte by course, euery man according to his office whether preaste or Leuite: for the burntoffringes and peace offringes, & to ministre and to thanke and to praye in the gates of the lodge of the Lorde.

¹² And the men wrought in the worke of fidelite. And the ouer seares of them to courage them forwarde, were Iahath & Obadiah Leuites of the chyldren of Merari: and Secharia and Mesulam of the children of the Cahathites, and as manye other of the Leuites as coulde skille of instrumentes of Musick.

¹⁰ And when the buylders layd the foundacion of the temple of the Lorde, the pryestes stode in their aray, with trompettes. And the Leuites the children of Asaph with cymbales, to prayse the Lorde after the maner of Dauid kynge of Israel. ¹¹ And they sange together, geuynge prayse and thankes vnto the Lorde, because he is gracyous, and because hys mercy endureth for euer vpon Israel. And all the people shouted loude in praysing the Lorde, because the foundacyon of the house of the Lorde was layd.

²⁴ And these were the chefe amonge the Leuytes, Hasabiah, Serebiah and Iesua the sonne of Cadmiel, and theyr brethren ouer agaynste them, to geue prayse and thankes, according as Dauid the man of God had ordeyned it, one watche ouer agaynst another

²⁷ And in the dedycacyon of the wall at Ierusalem, were the Leuytes soughte oute of all theyr places, that they myghte be broughte to Ierusalem, to kepe the dedicacyon and gladnesse, with thankesgeuynges, wyth syngyng with Cymbales, Psalteries and harpes.

⁴³ And the same daye were there greate sacrifyces offered, and they reioysed: for God had geuen them greate gladnesse, so that both the wyues & chyldren were ioyfull, & the myrthe of Ierusalem was hearde farre of. ⁴⁴ At the same tyme were there men appoynted ouer the treasure chestes (wherein were the heaueofferynges, the fyrste lynges and the tythes) that they shulde gather them oute of the feldes aboute the cytyes, to destrybute them vnto the pristes and Leuytes accordynge to the lawe: for Iuda was glad of the priestes, and Leuytes, that they stode and wayted ⁴⁵ vpon the offyce of theyr God, and the offyce of the purificacion. And the singers and porters stode after the commaundement of Dauid and of Salomon hys sonne: ⁴⁶ for in the tyme of Dauid and Asaph, were the chefe syngers founded, and the songes of prayse and thankesgeuynge vnto God.

¹ A Psalme of the songe for the Sabboth daye. It is a good thynge too geue thankes vnto the Lord, and to synge prayses vnto thy name, O moost hyest. ² To tell of thy louyng kyndnesse early in the mornyng. and of thy trueth in the night season. ³ Vpon an instrument of ten strynges, vpon the lute and with a songe vpon the harpe.

³ Prayse hym in the sounde of the trompet, prayse hym vpon the lute and harpe. ⁴ Prayse hym in the cymbales and daunse prayse hym vpon the strynges and pype. ⁵ Prayse hym vpon the weltuned cymbals prayse him vpon the loude cymbales.

²⁴ But and yf all prophecye, and there come in one that beleueth not, or one vnlearned, he is rebuked of al men, and is iudged of euerye man: ²⁵ and so are the secretes of hys herte opened, and so falleth he doune on hys face, and worshyppeth God, & sayeth that God is wyth you in dede. ²⁶ Howe is it then brethren? When ye come together, euerye man hath his songe, hath his doctryne, hath his tounge, hath hys reuelation, hath hys interpretation. Let al thynges be done vnto edifiynge.

² And I sawe as it were a glassy sea, mingled wt fyre, & them that had gotten victory of the beast and of his ymage, and of his marke, & of the numbre of his name, stande on the glassye sea, hauinge the harpes of God, ³ and they songe the songe of Moises the seruaunt of God, & they songe of the lamb, sayinge: Great & maruelous are thy workes Lorde God almighty, iuste & true are thy wayes kynge of sainctes. ⁴ Who shal not feare. O Lorde, & glorify thy name? For thou only arte holy and al Gentyls shal come and worshippe before the for thy iudgementes are made manifeste.
