⁵ But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, so that they could not cause them to stop until the matter came to Darius, and answer by letter concerning this had been returned.

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him. You have done foolishly in this; therefore from now on you shall have wars.

⁶ And Tatnai, governor of the province Beyond the River, Shethar-boznai, and your companions, the officials Beyond the River, keep away from there. ⁷ Let the work of this house of God alone. Let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place. ⁸ Also I make a decree as to what you shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God, that at once expense be given to these men from the king's goods, from the tax Beyond the River, so that they may not have to stop. ⁹ And that which they have need of, both young bulls and rams and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of Heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the choice of the priests at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail, ¹⁰ so that they may offer sacrifices of sweet savors to the God of Heaven, and pray for the life of the king and of his sons. ¹¹ Also I have made a decree that whoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house and be set up, and let him be hanged on it. And let his house be made a dunghill for this. ¹² And may the God who has caused His name to dwell there destroy all kings and people who shall put their hand to alter or to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I, Darius, have made a decree. Let it be done with speed.

⁶ this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a ready scribe in the Law of Moses, which Jehovah, the God of Israel had given. And the king granted him all he asked, according to the hand of Jehovah his God on him.

²⁸ and has extended mercy before the king and his counselors and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was made strong as the hand of Jehovah my God was on me, and I gathered out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

²² For I was ashamed to ask of the king troops and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is on all those who seek Him for good, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.

⁸ I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you, My eye shall be on you.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of Jehovah is to those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy;

¹⁵ The eyes of Jehovah are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; the wrath that is left, You shall bind up.

² many times they have afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed over me. ³ The plowers plowed on my back; they made their furrows long. ⁴ Jehovah is righteous; He cuts off the cords of the wicked. ⁵ Let them all be ashamed and turned back, those who hate Zion.

²⁸ and terrified in nothing by your adversaries. For this is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

¹² For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears open to their prayers. But the Lord's face is against those who do evil.
