²² Abstain from every appearance of evil.

⁸ But as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so these also resist the truth, men of corrupt mind, reprobate concerning the faith.

¹³ Then be in obedience to every ordinance of men, because of the Lord, whether to a king as supreme, ¹⁴ or to governors as sent by Him for vengeance on evildoers, but for praise on well-doers. ¹⁵ For such is the will of God, doing good to silence the ignorance of foolish men;

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who secretly will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their pernicious ways, and because of them the way of truth will be evil spoken of.

⁹ I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, did not receive us. ¹⁰ Therefore if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, ranting against us with evil words. And not content with these, neither does he himself receive the brothers. And he forbids those who would, and casts them out of the church.

¹⁰ And I heard a great voice saying in Heaven, Now has come the salvation and power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.
