⁹ whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions in the world are being completed in your brotherhood.

³ And the Devil said to Him, If you are the Son of God, speak to this stone that it might become bread. ⁴ And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God." ⁵ And the Devil, leading Him up into a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the Devil said to Him, All this power I will give you, and the glory of them; for it has been delivered to me. And I give it to whomever I will. ⁷ Therefore if you will worship me, all shall be yours. ⁸ And Jesus answered and said to him, Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, "You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve." ⁹ And he brought Him to Jerusalem and sat Him on a pinnacle of the temple and said to Him, If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here. ¹⁰ For it is written, "He shall give His angels charge over You, to keep You; ¹¹ and in their hands they shall bear You up, lest at any time You dash Your foot against a stone." ¹² And Jesus answering said to him, It has been said, "You shall not tempt the Lord your God."

³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not. And when you are converted, strengthen your brothers.

³³ I have spoken these things to you so that you might have peace in Me. In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples, calling on them to continue in the faith and that through much tribulation we must enter into the kingdom of God.

¹³ No temptation has taken you but what is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but with the temptation also will make a way to escape, so that you may be able to bear it.

²⁷ neither give place to the Devil.

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

¹⁶ Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

⁵ For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and beholding your order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, also driving us out and they do not please God and being contrary to all men, ¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the nations that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always; but the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

³ so that no one should be drawn aside by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are appointed to them.

¹² Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life, to which you are also called and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.

¹² Yea, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.

³³ who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

⁷ Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

⁶ in which you greatly rejoice, yet a little while, if need be, grieving in manifold temptations;

²¹ For you were not called to this? For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps,

¹⁴ But if you also suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. And do not fear their fear, nor be troubled,

¹³ but rejoice according as you are partakers of Christ's suffering, so that when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

⁹ I, John, who also am your brother and companion in the affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the island that is called Patmos, for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

¹¹ And white robes were given to each one of them. And it was said to them that they should rest yet for a little time, until both their fellow servants and their brothers (those about to be killed as they were) should have their number made complete.

¹⁴ And I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation and have washed their robes, and have whitened them in the blood of the Lamb.
