¹ And these were the sons of David, who were born to him in Hebron. The first-born, Amnon, of Ahinoam of Jezreel. The second, Daniel, of Abigail of Carmel.

⁵⁶ and Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,

³⁹ And David heard that Nabal had died, and he said, Blessed is Jehovah who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept His servant from evil. For Jehovah has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head. And David sent and spoke with Abigail, to take her to him for a wife. ⁴⁰ And David's servants came to Abigail at Carmel, and spoke to her, saying, David sent us to you to take you to him for a wife. ⁴¹ And she arose and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord. ⁴² And Abigail hurried and arose, and rode on an ass, with five of her maidens who went after her. And she followed the messengers of David and became his wife. ⁴³ David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel. And they became, both of them, his wives.

³ And David lived with Achish of Gath, he and his men, each one with his household; David with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail of Carmel, Nabal's former wife.

² And sons were born to David in Hebron. And his first-born was Amnon, the son of Ahinoam of Jezreel. ³ And his second was Chileab, of Abigail of Carmel, the former wife of Nabal. And the third was Absalom, the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur. ⁴ And the fourth was Adonijah, the son of Haggith. And the fifth was Shephatiah, the son of Abital. ⁵ And the sixth was Ithream, by Eglah, David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

¹ And it happened after this Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister whose name was Tamar. And Amnon the son of David loved her.

²⁹ And the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. And all the king's sons arose. And they each got on his mule and fled.
