¹ And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: ² Until when will you set a snare for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak. ³ Why are we counted as animals? Are we stupid in your eyes? ⁴ One tearing himself in his anger, shall the earth be forsaken for your sake? Or shall the rock move from its place? ⁵ Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out; and the spark of his fire shall not blaze. ⁶ The light shall be dark in his tent; and his lamp shall be put out above him; ⁷ the steps of his strength shall be hampered; and his own counsel shall tumble him. ⁸ For he is sent into a net by his own feet; and he is walking on a snare; ⁹ the trap shall take him by the heel; a noose shall prevail over him; ¹⁰ the pitfall is hid for him in the ground, and a trap for him on the way. ¹¹ Terrors frighten him on every side and shall dash him at his feet. ¹² His strength shall be hunger-bitten, and calamity shall be ready at his side. ¹³ It devours parts of his skin; the first-born of death eats his parts. ¹⁴ His hope shall be rooted out of his tent, and you marched to the king of terrors. ¹⁵ What is not his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone is scattered on his home. ¹⁶ His roots are dried up beneath, and his branch shall wither above. ¹⁷ His memory perishes from the earth, and there is no name to him on the face of the street. ¹⁸ They push him from light to darkness, and they make him flee from the world. ¹⁹ He shall have no son nor kinsman among his people, nor any remnant in his dwellings. ²⁰ Those after him shall be amazed at his day; and those before were seized with horror. ²¹ Surely these are the tents of the perverse, and this the place that has not known God.

¹¹ And three friends of Job heard of all this evil that had come on him. And they each one came from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite; Bildad the Shuhite; and Zophar the Naamathite. And they had met together to come to lament with him, and to comfort him.

¹ And Bildad the Shuhite answered, saying:

¹ And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:

⁷ And it happened, after Jehovah spoke these words to Job, Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My anger flows against you and your two friends. For You have not spoken the right about Me, as My servant Job. ⁸ And now take for you seven young bulls and seven rams and go to My servant Job, and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And My servant Job will pray for you. Surely I will lift up his face so as not to do with you according to your folly, in that you have not spoken the right about Me, as My servant Job. ⁹ And Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as Jehovah spoke to them. And Jehovah lifted the face of Job.

⁵ Let darkness and the shadow of death seize upon it. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let all that blackens the day terrify it. ⁶ As for that night, let darkness seize it! Let it not be joined to the days of the year. Let it not come into the number of the months.

¹⁷ There the wicked cease from turmoil, and there the weary are at rest;

² Until when will you speak these things, since the words of your mouth are like a mighty wind?

² Should not a flood of words be answered? And should a man of lips be justified?

⁵ Oh that you would stop speaking entirely; and it would be your wisdom! ⁶ Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the arguments of my lips.

² I have heard many such things . You are all miserable comforters. ³ Is there an end to windy words? Or what provokes you that you answer?

² Listen carefully to my speech, and let this be your comfort;

¹ However, Job, now hear my speech and listen to all my words.

¹³ If one rejects a matter before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.

¹⁹ So that, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

⁷ But now please ask the animals, and they will teach you; and the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; ⁸ or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; and the fish of the sea will recount to you;

⁴ For You have hidden their heart from understanding; therefore You shall not exalt them .

¹⁰ And now all of them, go back and please come again; and I shall not find among you a wise man.

²² And I was brutish and did not know; I was like animals with You.

¹⁸ I said in my heart concerning the issue of the sons of men, that God may test them and see that they by themselves are beasts.

¹⁰ in brotherly love to one another, loving fervently, having gone before one another in honor;

² For vexation kills the fool, and passion puts to death the simple.

¹⁴ Why do I take my flesh in my teeth and put my life in my hand?

¹⁸ And surely a falling mountain crumbles away, and the rock moves out of its place.

⁹ His anger has torn, and hated me; He gnashes at me with His teeth; my enemy sharpens His eyes at me.

⁸ Will you also set aside My judgment; will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My mercy shall not depart from you; nor shall the covenant of My peace be removed, says Jehovah who has pity on you.

⁹ And He said to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and of Judah is very great, and the land is filled with blood, and the city is full of perversity. For they say, Jehovah has forsaken the land; and, Jehovah does not see.

⁹ And God said to Jonah, Is your anger rightly kindled over the plant? And he said, My anger is rightly kindled, even to death.

³⁵ The heaven and the earth will pass away, but My words will never ever pass away.

¹⁸ And wherever it seizes him, it dashes him; and he foams and gnashes his teeth. And he wastes away. And I told Your disciples, that they might expel it. And they were not able.

³⁹ And, behold, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out, and it throws him into convulsions, with foaming. And it departs from him with pain, bruising him.

⁵ that the exulting of the wicked is near an end, and the joy of the ungodly is for a moment?

¹⁷ How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, and their calamity comes on them! He shares out pangs in His anger;

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know at what they stumble.

⁹ The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in deep darkness.

²⁰ for no hereafter shall be to the evil; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

¹¹ Behold, all of you who kindle fire, who are surrounded by sparks; walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you are burning. This shall be to you from My hand; you shall lie down in pain.

²⁸ For You will light my lamp; Jehovah my God will make my darkness light.

²³ And the light of a lamp will never more shine in you. And the voice of the bridegroom and bride will never more be heard in you. For your merchants were the great ones of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were misled.

³¹ And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Jehovah, I pray You, make the counsel of Ahithophel foolish.

¹⁴ And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. And Jehovah had ordained to break down the good counsel of Ahithophel, for the sake of bringing the evil of Jehovah to Absalom.

¹² breaking the plots of the crafty, nor did their hands perform the undertaking. ¹³ He takes the wise in their craftiness, and the counsel of the wily ones is hastened.

⁶ Your mouth condemns you, and not I; yea, your own lips testify against you.

²² In the fullness of his scorn, it is strait for him; the hand of every wretched one shall come upon him.

¹⁶ And He also would have lured you from the mouth of distress to a wide place not cramped under; and the setting of your table would be full of fatness.

³⁶ You have made a wide place under me for my steps, so that my ankles have not slipped.

¹⁰ Jehovah brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.

³⁰ They did not want my counsel; they despised all my reproof, ³¹ and they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own lusts. ³² For the going astray of the simple kills them, and the ease of fools destroys them.

¹² when you go, your tracks shall not be narrowed, and when you run, you shall not stumble.

⁶ It shall also be carried to Assyria, a present to king Jareb. Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it has been written, "He takes the wise in their own craftiness." Job 5:13

⁹ If it pleases the king, let it be written to destroy them; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

¹³ And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, If Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but shall surely fall before him.

⁵ And king Ahasuerus answered and said to Esther e queen, Who is he, this one? And where is this one, he who is filled with pride in his heart to do so?

¹⁰ And they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's wrath lay down.

¹⁰ On account of this snares are all around you, and suddenly dread troubles you;

¹⁵ The nations have sunk into the pit they made; their foot is caught in the net they hid.

⁸ Let destruction come on him; he will not know; and let his net which he concealed catch him; let him fall in it, into destruction.

²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sin.

⁶ A snare is in the transgression of an evil man, but the righteous sing and rejoice.

³ So says the Lord Jehovah: So I will spread out My net over you with an assembly of many peoples, and they will lift you up in My net.

⁷ But he must also have a good witness from those outside, that he not fall into reproach and into a snare of the Devil.

⁹ But those having purposed to be rich fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and loss.

²⁶ and they may awake out of the snare of the Devil, having been taken captive by him, so as to do the will of that one.

¹⁵ And the Sabeans fell on, and took them away. And they killed the young men with the edge of the sword; and I, I alone have escaped to tell you.

¹⁷ While this one was still speaking, this other also came and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands and swooped down on the camels. And they have taken them away. And they have killed the young men with the edge of the sword; and I, I alone have escaped to tell you.

⁵ The hungry eat his harvest, and take him to the thorns, and the snare snuffs up their wealth.

¹⁴ And He shall be for a sanctuary, and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of falling to the two houses of Israel; for a trap and for a snare to the dweller of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And many among them shall stumble and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

⁶ He shall rain snares on the wicked; fire and brimstone and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.

¹³ And I will spread My net on him, and he shall be taken in My snare. And I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans. Yet he will not see it, and he shall die there.

⁹ And David said, "Let their table become for a snare and a trap, and for a stumbling block," and a repayment to them;

³⁶ And those who are left of you, I shall also bring a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as one flees from the sword; and they shall fall when no one pursues.

⁶ For the Lord had caused the Syrian army to hear a sound of chariots, and a sound of horses, and a sound of a great army. And they said to one another, Behold, the king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites against us, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us. ⁷ And they rose up and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, and the camp as it was . And they fled for their life.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me; their fury is drinking my spirit; the terrors of God are set against me.

²¹ A dreadful sound of things is in his ears; the destroyer shall come on him in peace.

⁸ He flies off like a dream, and is not found; and is driven away like a night vision.

²⁵ One draws it, and treads it from behind, even lightning from his gall; terror is upon him.

⁵ There they dreaded with dread, where no dread was; for God has scattered the bones of the one who besieges you; you have put them to shame because God rejects them.

¹⁹ How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away with terrors!

¹ The wicked flee though no one is pursuing, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

²⁵ Do not go out into the field or walk by the way, because of the sword of the enemy and terror from every side.

³ And it was on the next day that Pashur released Jeremiah from the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, Jehovah has not called your name Pashur, but Terror from All Around. ⁴ For so says Jehovah, Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. And they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall see. And I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall exile them into Babylon and kill them with the sword.

⁵ Why have I seen that they are afraid and turned backward? And their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled for refuge, and do not look back. Terror is all around, says Jehovah.

²⁹ They shall take their tents and their flocks. They shall take their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels, to themselves. And they shall cry to them, Fear is all around.

¹¹ Then knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, and we have been manifest to God; and I also hope to have been manifest in your consciences.

¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the powerful ones, and every slave, and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains. ¹⁶ And "they said to the mountains" and to the rocks, "Fall on us," and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, Hos. 10:8

⁵ They that were full have hired themselves out for bread; and the hungry have ceased, while the barren has borne seven; yea, she who had many sons has languished.

³⁶ And it shall be, everyone who is left in your house shall come in to bow to him for a wage of silver and a loaf of bread. And they shall say, please admit me into one of the priest's offices, to eat a bit of bread.

²³ He is wandering, for he seeks for bread. Where is it ? He knows that the day of darkness is at his hand. ²⁴ Distress and pain terrify him; they shall overpower him, as a king ready for the attack;

¹² If he will not turn, He will whet His sword; He has trod His bow, He made it ready; ¹³ yea, He has fitted for him instruments of death. He will make ready His arrows for pursuers. ¹⁴ Behold, he writhes with iniquity and he will conceive mischief: and he has fathered falsehood;

¹⁰ The young lions have lacked and been hungry; but they who seek Jehovah shall not lack any good thing.

¹⁰ and let his sons always beg and wander, and seek food out of their ruins;

²¹ And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry. And it shall be, they shall be hungry; he will rave and curse his king and his God, and face upward.

³ For when they say, Peace and safety! Then suddenly destruction comes upon them, like travail to the pregnant woman, and they shall not at all escape.

³ And by covetousness, with well-turned words, they will use you for gain, for whom judgment of old does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.

³ Reuben, you are my first born, my strength and the firstfruit of my power; excellence of dignity and excellence of might.

¹⁶ They shall go down to the bars of Sheol, when our descent together is in the dust.

³⁰ And the first-born of the poor shall eat; and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill your root with famine; and it shall kill your remnant.

⁶ I went down to the bases of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me forever. But You brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.

¹² And this shall be the plague with which Jehovah will strike all the peoples who have fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rest in their sockets, and their tongues shall rot in their mouths.

⁸ And I saw, and behold, a pale green horse, and the name of the one sitting on it was Death; and Hades followed after him. And authority was given to them to kill over the fourth of the earth with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

¹⁴ whose hope is cut off, and his trust as a spider's house.

²² Those who hate you shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall not be .

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall be consumed, and escape shall perish from them; and their hope shall be like the breathing out of the soul.

¹⁷ For alike are morning and the shadow of death to them; for he knows the terrors of death shadow.

³⁴ He beholds all high things; he is king over all the sons of pride.

⁴ My heart is pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen on me.

¹⁰ The wicked shall see and be vexed; he shall gnash his teeth and melt; the desire of the wicked shall perish.

²⁸ The expectation of the righteous is joyful, but the hope of the wicked shall perish.

³² The wicked is thrust out in his wickedness, but the righteous has hope in his death.

²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and who does not do them, he shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand; ²⁷ and the rain came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

⁵⁵ "O death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?" Hos. 13:14 ⁵⁶ Now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;

¹⁵ and might set these free, as many as by fear of death were subject to slavery through all the time to live.

²⁴ And Jehovah rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from Jehovah out of the heavens.

²³ The whole land shall be burned with brimstone and salt; it shall not be sown, nor shall it sprout; nor shall there be any herb in it. It shall be like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which Jehovah overthrew in His anger and in His fury.

¹² His strength shall be hunger-bitten, and calamity shall be ready at his side. ¹³ It devours parts of his skin; the first-born of death eats his parts.

¹⁸ giving back his gain, and he will not eat. As to the wealth of his trading, even he shall not enjoy it . ¹⁹ For he crushed and forsook the poor; he stole a house, but he had not built it. ²⁰ Surely he shall not know ease in his belly; he will not escape with his things of desire. ²¹ There is no residue for his eating; because of this, his good will not last.

³⁸ If my land cries out against me, or its furrows weep together; ³⁹ if I have eaten its strength without silver, or have caused its owner to expire;

⁹ And its torrents shall be turned to pitch, and its dust to brimstone; and its land shall become burning pitch. ¹⁰ It shall not be put out night or day; its smoke shall rise forever. From generation to generation, it shall lie waste; no one shall pass through it forever and forever.

¹³ Woe to him who builds his house without righteousness, and his upper rooms without justice. His neighbor serves without pay, and he does not give him his work;

⁶ Shall not all of these lift up a parable against him. and a mocking riddle to him, and say, Woe to him who increases what is not his! How long, then, shall he load the pledges on himself? ⁷ Shall not those who strike you rise up suddenly, and those who shake you be aroused, and you become a prize to him? ⁸ Because you have plundered many nations, all the rest of the people shall plunder you, because of the blood of men and the violence of the land, and the city, and all those dwelling in it. ⁹ Woe to him who robs evil booty for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil! ¹⁰ You have advised shame for your house, to make an end of many peoples, and are sinning in your soul. ¹¹ For the stone shall cry out from the wall, and the beam shall answer it from the wood.

⁴ And I will bring it forth, says Jehovah of hosts. And it shall go into the house of the thief, and into the house of the one who swears falsely by My name. And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall devour it, and its timber, and its stones.

²⁰ And the beast was seized, and with this one the false prophet doing signs before it, by which he led astray those having received the mark of the beast, and those worshiping its image. The two were thrown alive into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone.

⁸ But for the cowardly and unbelieving, and those having become foul, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the lying ones, their part will be in the Lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

³ I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling place. ⁴ His sons are far from safety; yea, they are crushed in the gate; nor is there any deliverer.

³⁰ He shall not escape from darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches; and he shall turn at the breath of His mouth.

¹⁹ My root was open to the waters, and the dew lay all night on my branch.

²⁴ So, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and the flame burns up the chaff; their root shall be like rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up like dust, because they have cast away the law of Jehovah of Hosts; and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁶ Ephraim is stricken; their root is dried up; they shall bear no fruit. Yea, though they bear, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.

⁹ Yet I destroyed the Amorite from before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the great trees. And I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from below.

¹ For, behold, the day is coming, burning like a fire pot; and all the proud and every doer of wickedness shall be chaff. And the coming day will set them ablaze, says Jehovah of hosts, which will not leave root or branches to them.

¹² Your remembered sayings are like ashes; surely your backs are backs of clay.

¹⁶ The face of Jehovah is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth.

⁴ They have said, Come, and we will cut them off from being a nation; and, The name of Israel will not be recalled again.

¹³ let his posterity be cut off; let their name be blotted out in the following generation;

²² But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

⁷ The memory of the just is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall rot.

²⁰ Why is light given to the miserable one, and life to him who is bitter in soul;

¹⁴ They meet with darkness by day, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

²² a land of obscurity, the darkness of the shadow of death, and without any order; even the shining is as darkness.

¹⁴ if iniquity is in your hand, put it far away and do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;

²¹ And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry. And it shall be, they shall be hungry; he will rave and curse his king and his God, and face upward. ²² And they shall look to the land. And, behold, trouble and darkness and gloom of anguish; and they are driven to darkness.

¹³ The nations shall crash like the crashing of many waters, but He rebukes it, and it flees far away; yea, it is driven like the chaff of mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before a tempest. ¹⁴ At the time of evening, behold, terror! Before it is morning, it shall not be . This is the portion of those robbing us, and the lot of those plundering us.

³³ The same hour the thing was fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar. And he was driven from men, and he ate the grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heavens, until his hair had grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws .

²¹ And he was driven from the sons of men. And his heart was made like the animals, and his home was with the wild asses. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the heavens, until he knew that the Most High God is Ruler in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomever He desires.

¹³ wild waves of the sea foaming up their shames, wandering stars for whom blackness of darkness has been kept forever.

¹⁹ And, behold! A great wind came from the wilderness and touched the four corners of the house. And it fell on the young men and they died; and I, I alone have escaped to tell you.

⁴ If your sons have sinned against Him, and if He has sent them away in the hand of their transgression,

²⁶ All darkness is hidden for secret treasuring; fire not blown shall consume him; those left in his tent shall be broken. ²⁷ The heavens shall expose his iniquity; and the earth shall be raising itself up against him. ²⁸ The increase of his house shall depart, flowing away in the day of His wrath.

¹⁴ If his sons become numerous, the sword is for them; and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ Those remaining of him shall be buried in death, and his widows shall not weep.

¹³ And he had seven sons and three daughters. ¹⁴ And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch. ¹⁵ And in all the land there were not found women as beautiful as Job's daughters. And their father gave them inheritance among their brothers. ¹⁶ After this Job lived a hundred and forty years. And he saw his sons, and his grandsons, even four generations.

⁸ Woe to those touching house to house, bringing near field to field until the end of space, and you are made to dwell alone in the middle of the land! ⁹ Jehovah of Hosts has sworn in my ears, If not, many houses shall be a waste, big and beautiful ones without inhabitant.

²¹ Prepare for the slaughter of his sons, for the iniquity of their fathers; that they may not rise and possess the land and fill the face of the earth with cities. ²² For I will rise against them, says Jehovah of Hosts, and cut off the name and remnant, the son and grandson, from Babylon, declares Jehovah.

³⁰ So says Jehovah, Write this man childless, a man who will not prosper in his days. For not one from his seed will succeed, a man sitting on the throne of David and ruling any more in Judah.

It shall be like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which Jehovah overthrew in His anger and in His fury. ²⁴ Yes, all the nations shall say, Why has Jehovah done this to this land? For what is the heat of this great anger?

⁸ As to this house, which is high, everyone passing by it shall be astonished and shall hiss, and they shall say, Why has Jehovah done this to this land and to this house?

¹² And when they lifted up their eyes from a distance and did not recognize him, they lifted up their voice and wept then. And each one tore his robe. And they sprinkled dust on their heads toward the heavens. ¹³ And they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights. And no one was speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.

¹³ He has put my brothers from me; and my knowers are truly alienated from me. ¹⁴ My near ones have fallen away, and my friends have forgotten me. ¹⁵ The tenants in my house, even my slave-girls, count me as a foreigner; I am an alien in their eyes. ¹⁶ I called my servant, but he does not answer; I must beg him with my mouth. ¹⁷ My breath is strange to my wife, and I must beg to the sons of my mother's womb. ¹⁸ Even young children despise me; I rise, and they speak against me. ¹⁹ All the men of my counsel detest me; even this one I loved has turned against me.

¹³ the Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.

⁷ O Jehovah, remember for the sons of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said, Make it bare! Make it bare even to its foundation!

¹⁶ to make their land a desolation, a hissing forever. Everyone who passes by will be amazed and will shake his head.

²⁷ Put the sword to all her bulls, let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them! For their day has come, the time of their punishment.

²⁵ And you, O slain, wicked prince of Israel, of whom has come his day in the time of iniquity of the end,

¹¹ On the day of your standing on the other side, on the day that the strangers take his force captive, and foreigners enter his gates, and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them. ¹² But you should not have looked on the day of your brother, on the day of his alienation; nor should you have rejoiced over the sons of Judah in the day of their destruction; nor should you have enlarged your mouth in the day of distress. ¹³ You should not have entered into My people's gate on the day of his calamity; also you should not have looked on his evil on the day of his calamity, nor should you have sent out against his force in the day of his calamity. ¹⁴ Nor should you have stood on the crossways to cut off those of him who escaped, nor should you have shut up his survivors in the day of distress. ¹⁵ For the day of Jehovah is near on all the nations: As you have done, it shall be done to you; your reward shall return on your head!

⁴² saying, If you had known, even you, even at least in this day of yours, the things for your peace! But now they were hidden from your eyes.

⁴⁴ and will tear you down, and your children in you, and will not leave a stone on a stone, because you did not know the time of your visitation.

² And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah that I should listen to His voice to send away Israel? I do not know Jehovah, and I also will not send Israel away.

¹⁰ And also all that generation was gathered to their fathers, and another generation arose after them who had not known Jehovah, nor yet the works which He had done for Israel.

¹² And the sons of Eli were sons of worthlessness; they did not know Jehovah.

⁹ And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a perfect heart, and with a willing mind. For Jehovah searches out all hearts, and He understands every imagination of thoughts. If you shall seek Him, He shall be found by you. But if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

¹⁴ And they say to God, Depart from us, for we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways.

²⁸ for you say, Where is the house of the noble, and where the tent, the dwellings of the wicked?

⁶ Pour out Your wrath on the nations who have not known You, and on the kingdoms who have not called on Your name.

³ And they bend their tongues, their bow is a lie. And they are not mighty for the truth on the earth, for they go from evil to evil. They also do not know Me, says Jehovah.

²⁵ Pour out Your fury on the nations who do not know You, and on the families who do not call on Your name. For they have eaten up Jacob. Yea, they have devoured him and have destroyed him, and they have made his dwelling place desolate.

²⁸ And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right,

⁵ not in passion of lust, even as also the nations do, not knowing God;

⁸ in flaming fire giving full vengeance to those not knowing God, and to those not obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, Isa. 66:15; Jer. 10:25

¹⁶ They profess to know God, but by their works they deny Him, being abominable and disobedient, and worthless to every good work.
