⁵ And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, "You will not enter here." But David captured the stronghold of Zion; that is, the city of David.

⁹ If he is able to fight with me and he defeats me, then we will be your servants; but if I prevail over him and defeat him, then you will be our servants and you will serve us." ¹⁰ Then the Philistine said, "I hereby defy the battle lines of Israel today! Give me a man so that we may fight each other!"

²⁶ Now David had spoken to the men who were standing with him, saying, "What will be done for the man who defeats this Philistine and removes the disgrace from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he defies the battle lines of the living God?"

³⁶ Your servant has struck down both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he defied the battle lines of the living God."

⁹ David occupied the fortress and called it the city of David. And David built all around it from the Millo and _⌊inward_⌋.*

¹⁰ However, David was not willing to bring the ark of Yahweh to himself, to the city of David, so David caused it to turn to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

¹² It was told to King David, "Yahweh has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and all that is his because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with jubilation.

¹ At that time, Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the _⌊families_⌋* of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* before King Solomon, in order to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, that is, Zion.

⁷ And David lived in the fortress. Therefore they called it the city of David.

² Then Solomon assembled all the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the _⌊families_⌋* for the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* to Jerusalem in order to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, which is Zion.

⁶ "But as for me, I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

¹¹ Sing praises to Yahweh who sits enthroned* in Zion. Tell his deeds among the peoples,

² Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is _⌊Mount Zion_⌋,* _⌊in the far north_⌋,* the city of the great king.

² Yahweh loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

⁵ But with respect to Zion it shall be said, "_⌊Each one_⌋* was born in her," for the Most High himself will establish her.

⁵ For there the thrones sit* for judgment, thrones of David's house.

¹ A song of ascents.*
Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. ² As mountains are round about Jerusalem, so Yahweh is round about his people, from now until forever.

¹³ For Yahweh has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation.

¹¹ Yahweh has completed his anger, he has poured out _⌊his fierce anger_⌋;* he has kindled a fire in Zion, it consumed her* foundations. ¹² The kings of the earth did not believe, and all the inhabitants of the world, that a foe and an enemy could enter into the gates of Jerusalem.

³³ just as it is written,
"Behold, I am laying in Zion _⌊a stone that causes people to stumble_⌋*, and _⌊a rock that causes them to fall_⌋*, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame."*

²² But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to tens of thousands of angels, to the festal gathering

¹ And I looked, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him one hundred forty-four thousand who had his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.
