¹⁵ Lie not in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

¹¹ And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?

¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, Turn you, and fall upon the priests. ²⁰ Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand. ²¹ And Saul said, Blessed be you of the LORD; for you have compassion on me. ²² Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see the place where his hideout is, and who has seen him there: for it is told me that he deals very craftily. ²³ See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come you again to me with certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places does he murder the innocent: his eyes are secretly set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to catch the poor: he does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches, and lies low, that the poor may fall by his strength.

³² The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

³ For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.

⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah.

¹¹ If they say, Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause:

²⁸ Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.

¹⁸ And my people shall dwell in a peaceful habitation, and in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

¹⁹ But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised plots against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

⁴ And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

²⁴ But their plot was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

¹⁶ And when Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the barracks, and told Paul.

³ And desired a favor from him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, plotting to kill him along the way.
