Ecclesiastes Cross References - KJ2000

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3 What profit has a man of all his labor which he takes under the sun? 4 One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides forever. 5 The sun also arises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to its place where it arose. 6 The wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north; it whirls about continually, and the wind returns again according to its circuit. 7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from where the rivers come, there they return again. 8 All things are full of weariness; man cannot express it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9 The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there any thing of which it may be said, See, this is new? it has been already of old time, which was before us. 11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after. 12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this severe burden has God given to the sons of man to be afflicted with. 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and like grasping the wind. 15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is lacking cannot be numbered. 16 I communed with my own heart, saying, Lo, I have come to greatness, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. 17 And I set my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is like grasping the wind. 18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow.

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

Ecclesiastes 1:12

12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this severe burden has God given to the sons of man to be afflicted with. 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and like grasping the wind.

Ecclesiastes 1:17

17 And I set my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is like grasping the wind.

Ecclesiastes 1:17-18

17 And I set my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is like grasping the wind. 18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow.

Ecclesiastes 2:3

3 I sought in my heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men, which they should do under heaven all the days of their life.

Ecclesiastes 2:9

9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever my eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my reward of all my labor. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had made, and on the labor that I had expended on it: and, behold, all was vanity and like grasping the wind, and there was no profit under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 2:11-12

11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had made, and on the labor that I had expended on it: and, behold, all was vanity and like grasping the wind, and there was no profit under the sun. 12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can a man do that comes after the king? even that which has been already done.

Ecclesiastes 2:12-12

12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can a man do that comes after the king? even that which has been already done.

Ecclesiastes 2:15

15 Then said I in my heart, As it happens to the fool, so it happens even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. 16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool forever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how does the wise man die? as the fool. 17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is done under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and like grasping the wind.

Ecclesiastes 2:19

19 And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.

Ecclesiastes 2:21

21 For there is a man whose labor is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that has not labored in it shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. 22 For what has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart, with which he has labored under the sun? 23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart takes not rest in the night. This is also vanity.

Ecclesiastes 2:26

26 For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping up, only that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping of the wind.

Ecclesiastes 3:9

9 What profit has he that works in that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the task, which God has given to the sons of men to be occupied in it.

Ecclesiastes 3:14

14 I know that, whatsoever God does, it shall be forever: nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God does it, that men should fear before him. 15 That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requires that which is past.

Ecclesiastes 3:19

19 For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; the same thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man has no advantage over a beast: for all is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 4:1-4

1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. 2 Therefore I praised the dead who are already dead more than the living who are yet alive. 3 Yea, better is he than both, who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 4:3-4

3 Yea, better is he than both, who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun. 4 Again, I considered all toil, and every skillful work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This is also vanity and grasping after the wind.

Ecclesiastes 4:4-4

4 Again, I considered all toil, and every skillful work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This is also vanity and grasping after the wind.

Ecclesiastes 4:7

7 Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun. 8 There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither says he, For whom do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a heavy travail.

Ecclesiastes 4:16

16 There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them: they also that come after him shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and grasping after the wind.

Ecclesiastes 5:10

10 He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance, with increase: this is also vanity.

Ecclesiastes 5:10-11

10 He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance, with increase: this is also vanity. 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: so what good is there to the owners, except the beholding of them with their eyes?

Ecclesiastes 5:16

16 And this also is a great evil, that just as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he who has labored for the wind?

Ecclesiastes 5:18

18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and fitting for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor that he takes under the sun all the days of his life, which God gives him: for this is his lot.

Ecclesiastes 6:9

9 Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and grasping after the wind. 10 Whatever has been is named already, and it is known that this is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he. 11 Since there are many things that increase vanity, how is man the better? 12 For who knows what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spends like a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

Ecclesiastes 7:10

10 Say you not, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for you do not inquire wisely concerning this. 11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. 12 For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellence of knowledge is, that wisdom gives life to them that have it. 13 Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he has made crooked?

Ecclesiastes 7:16

16 Be not overly righteous; neither make yourself overly wise: why should you destroy yourself?

Ecclesiastes 7:23-25

23 All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me. 24 That which is far off, and exceedingly deep, who can find it out?

Ecclesiastes 7:24-25

24 That which is far off, and exceedingly deep, who can find it out? 25 I applied my heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

Ecclesiastes 7:25

25 I applied my heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

Ecclesiastes 7:25-25

25 I applied my heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness: 26 And I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands are fetters: whosoever pleases God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her. 27 Behold, this have I found, says the preacher, adding one thing to another, to find out the reason:

Ecclesiastes 8:9

9 All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt.

Ecclesiastes 8:15-17

15 Then I commended mirth, because a man has no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him in his labor all the days of his life, which God gives him under the sun. 16 When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is one who neither day nor night sees sleep with his eyes:) 17 Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labors to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea moreover; though a wise man thinks to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

Ecclesiastes 9:3

3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

Ecclesiastes 9:5

5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in any thing that is done under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 9:13

13 This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:

Ecclesiastes 11:5

5 As you know not what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so you know not the works of God who makes all.

8 But if a man lives many years, and rejoices in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 11:10

10 Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

Ecclesiastes 12:8-10

8 Vanity of vanities, says the preacher; all is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 12:8

8 Vanity of vanities, says the preacher; all is vanity. 9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he pondered, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. 10 The preacher sought to find acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

Ecclesiastes 12:12

12 And further, my son, be admonished by these: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Ecclesiastes 12:12-13

12 And further, my son, be admonished by these: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Isaiah 10:7-14

7 Yet he means not so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations, not a few. 8 For he says, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria: 11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks. 13 For he says, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the boundaries of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: 14 And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathers eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

Isaiah 40:4

4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places smooth:

Isaiah 41:22-26

22 Let them bring them forth, and show us what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they were, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare to us things to come. 23 Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together. 24 Behold, you are of nothing, and your work is nothing: an abomination is he that chooses you. 25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon mortar, and as the potter treads clay. 26 Who has declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that shows, yea, there is none that declares, yea, there is none that hears your words.

Isaiah 42:9

9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

1 Thessalonians 2:14-16
