¹² Apply your heart unto instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge.

² So that you incline your ear unto wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; ³ Yea, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures; ⁵ Then shall you understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

¹ My son, be attentive to my wisdom, and incline your ear to my understanding: ² That you may preserve discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge.

¹⁷ Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart unto my knowledge.

¹⁹ Hear you, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way.

³¹ And they come unto you as the people comes, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

⁵² Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

²¹ Therefore put away all filthiness and extreme wickedness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
