² That he may judge Thy people with righteousness, and Thy poor with justice.

⁵ In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said: 'Ask what I shall give thee.' ⁶ And Solomon said: 'Thou hast shown unto Thy servant David my father great kindness, according as he walked before Thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with Thee; and Thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that Thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. ⁷ And now, O LORD my God, Thou hast made Thy servant king instead of David my father; and I am but a little child; I know not how to go out or come in. ⁸ And Thy servant is in the midst of Thy people which Thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. ⁹ Give Thy servant therefore an understanding heart to judge Thy people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?' ¹⁰ And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

¹⁹ That respecteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? For they all are the work of His hands.

⁵ (12:6) 'For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise', saith the LORD; 'I will set him in safety at whom they puff.'

⁶ (45:7) Thy throne given of God is for ever and ever; a sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom. ⁷ (45:8) Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

¹² For he will deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. ¹³ He will have pity on the poor and needy, and the souls of the needy he will save. ¹⁴ He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence, and precious will their blood be in his sight;

³ Judge the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute. ⁴ Rescue the poor and needy; deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

⁷ (9:6) That the government may be increased, and of peace there be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it through justice and through righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts doth perform this.

² And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. ³ And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears; ⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the land; and he shall smite the land with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. ⁵ And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

¹ Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and as for princes, they shall rule in justice.

¹⁷ And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and confidence for ever.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, will I cause a shoot of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹¹ And I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
