¹ Why standest Thou afar off, O LORD? Why hidest Thou Thyself in times of trouble?

²⁴ Wherefore hidest Thou Thy face, and holdest me for Thine enemy?

⁹ On the left hand, when He doth work, but I cannot behold Him, He turneth Himself to the right hand, but I cannot see Him.

²⁹ When He giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when He hideth His face, who then can behold Him? whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike;

How long wilt Thou hide Thy face from me? ² (13:3) How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart by day? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? ³ (13:4) Behold Thou, and answer me, O LORD my God; lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
