These things will I do, and I will not leave them undone. ¹⁷ They shall be turned back, greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images: 'Ye are our gods.' ¹⁸ Hear, ye deaf, and look, ye blind, that ye may see. ¹⁹ Who is blind, but My servant? Or deaf, as My messenger that I send? Who is blind as he that is wholehearted, and blind as the LORD'S servant? ²⁰ Seeing many things, thou observest not; opening the ears, he heareth not. ²¹ The LORD was pleased, for His righteousness' sake, to make the teaching great and glorious. ²² But this is a people robbed and spoiled, they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses; they are for a prey, and none delivereth, for a spoil, and none saith: 'Restore.' ²³ Who among you will give ear to this? Who will hearken and hear for the time to come? ²⁴ Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? Did not the LORD? He against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient unto His law. ²⁵ Therefore He poured upon him the fury of His anger, and the strength of battle; and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not, and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

²² surely all those men that have seen My glory, and My signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have put Me to proof these ten times, and have not hearkened to My voice;

⁴⁹ The LORD will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the vulture swoopeth down; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;

⁹ Before the LORD, for He is come to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

²⁰ (102:21) To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

²⁵ (102:26) Of old Thou didst lay the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of Thy hands. ²⁶ (102:27) They shall perish, but Thou shalt endure; yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt Thou change them, and they shall pass away;

¹³ Like as a father hath compassion upon his children, so hath the LORD compassion upon them that fear Him. ¹⁴ For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.

² Who coverest Thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain; ³ Who layest the beams of Thine upper chambers in the waters, who makest the clouds Thy chariot, who walkest upon the wings of the wind; ⁴ Who makest winds Thy messengers, the flaming fire Thy ministers. ⁵ Who didst establish the earth upon its foundations, that it should not be moved for ever and ever; ⁶ Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At Thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of Thy thunder they hasted away - ⁸ The mountains rose, the valleys sank down - unto the place which Thou hadst founded for them; ⁹ Thou didst set a bound which they should not pass over, that they might not return to cover the earth. ¹⁰ Who sendest forth springs into the valleys; they run between the mountains; ¹¹ They give drink to every beast of the field, the wild asses quench their thirst. ¹² Beside them dwell the fowl of the heaven, from among the branches they sing. ¹³ Who waterest the mountains from Thine upper chambers; the earth is full of the fruit of Thy works. ¹⁴ Who causeth the grass to spring up for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; to bring forth bread out of the earth, ¹⁵ And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, making the face brighter than oil, and bread that stayeth man's heart. ¹⁶ The trees of the LORD have their fill, the cedars of Lebanon, which He hath planted; ¹⁷ Wherein the birds make their nests; as for the stork, the fir-trees are her house. ¹⁸ The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the conies. ¹⁹ Who appointedst the moon for seasons; the sun knoweth his going down. ²⁰ Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. ²² The sun ariseth, they slink away, and couch in their dens. ²³ Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening. ²⁴ How manifold are Thy works, O LORD! In wisdom hast Thou made them all; the earth is full of Thy creatures. ²⁵ Yonder sea, great and wide, therein are creeping things innumerable, living creatures, both small and great. ²⁶ There go the ships; there is leviathan, whom Thou hast formed to sport therein. ²⁷ All of them wait for Thee, that Thou mayest give them their food in due season. ²⁸ Thou givest it unto them, they gather it; Thou openest Thy hand, they are satisfied with good. ²⁹ Thou hidest Thy face, they vanish; Thou withdrawest their breath, they perish, and return to their dust. ³⁰ Thou sendest forth Thy spirit, they are created; and Thou renewest the face of the earth. ³¹ May the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in His works! ³² Who looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; He toucheth the mountains, and they smoke. ³³ I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have any being. ³⁴ Let my musing be sweet unto Him; as for me, I will rejoice in the LORD. ³⁵ Let sinners cease out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. ⁷ Our fathers in Egypt gave no heed unto Thy wonders; they remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies; but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea. ⁸ Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, that He might make His mighty power to be known. ⁹ And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; and He led them through the depths, as through a wilderness. ¹⁰ And He saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. ¹¹ And the waters covered their adversaries; there was not one of them left. ¹² Then believed they His words; they sang His praise. ¹³ They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel;

⁴⁰ Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against His people, and He abhorred His inheritance. ⁴¹ And He gave them into the hand of the nations; and they that hated them ruled over them. ⁴² Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were subdued under their hand.

¹⁰ Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron - ¹¹ Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High. ¹² Therefore He humbled their heart with travail, they stumbled, and there was none to help - ¹³ They cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder. ¹⁵ Let them give thanks unto the LORD for His mercy, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! ¹⁶ For He hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

²³ They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters - ²⁴ These saw the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep; ²⁵ For He commanded, and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves thereof; ²⁶ They mounted up to the heaven, they went down to the deeps; their soul melted away because of trouble; ²⁷ They reeled to and fro, and staggered like a drunken man, and all their wisdom was swallowed up - ²⁸ They cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distresses. ²⁹ He made the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof were still. ³⁰ Then were they glad because they were quiet, and He led them unto their desired haven. ³¹ Let them give thanks unto the LORD for His mercy, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! ³² Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, and praise Him in the seat of the elders. ³³ He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and watersprings into a thirsty ground; ³⁴ A fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

⁴³ Whoso is wise, let him observe these things, and let them consider the mercies of the LORD.

⁵ The Lord at thy right hand doth crush kings in the day of His wrath. ⁶ He will judge among the nations; He filleth it with dead bodies, He crusheth the head over a wide land.

³ The sea saw it, and fled; the Jordan turned backward. ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like young sheep. ⁵ What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest? thou Jordan, that thou turnest backward? ⁶ Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams; ye hills, like young sheep? ⁷ Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

¹ O praise the LORD, all ye nations; laud Him, all ye peoples. ² For His mercy is great toward us; and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Hallelujah.

¹⁶ The right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.

⁵ Woe is me, that I sojourn with Meshech, that I dwell beside the tents of Kedar!

⁶ To Him that spread forth the earth above the waters, for His mercy endureth for ever.

⁷ Who executeth justice for the oppressed; who giveth bread to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners; ⁸ The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind; the LORD raiseth up them that are bowed down; the LORD loveth the righteous;

³ Who healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

¹ Hallelujah. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the heights. ² Praise ye Him, all His angels; praise ye Him, all His hosts. ³ Praise ye Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all ye stars of light. ⁴ Praise Him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that are above the heavens. ⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD; for He commanded, and they were created. ⁶ He hath also established them for ever and ever; He hath made a decree which shall not be transgressed. ⁷ Praise the LORD from the earth, ye sea-monsters, and all deeps; ⁸ Fire and hail, snow and vapour, stormy wind, fulfilling His word; ⁹ Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars; ¹⁰ Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and winged fowl; ¹¹ Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth; ¹² Both young men and maidens, old men and children; ¹³ Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. ¹⁴ And He hath lifted up a horn for His people, a praise for all His saints, even for the children of Israel, a people near unto Him. ⁶ Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Hallelujah.

²² 'How long, ye thoughtless, will ye love thoughtlessness? And how long will scorners delight them in scorning, and fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn you at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

¹² The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

¹⁵ That which is crooked cannot be made straight; and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

¹³ Consider the work of God; for who can make that straight, which He hath made crooked?

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil; ¹² because a sinner doeth evil a hundred times, and prolongeth his days - though yet I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, that fear before Him;

³ The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; but Israel doth not know, My people doth not consider.

⁷ Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by floods.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. ¹⁹ If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; ²⁰ But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken.

²⁴ Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah, I will ease Me of Mine adversaries, and avenge Me of Mine enemies; ²⁵ And I will turn My hand upon thee, and purge away thy dross as with lye, and will take away all thine alloy; ²⁶ And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning; afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness, the faithful city. ²⁷ Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and they that return of her with righteousness.

² (9:1) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

⁷ (9:6) That the government may be increased, and of peace there be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it through justice and through righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts doth perform this.

⁵ O Asshur, the rod of Mine anger, in whose hand as a staff is Mine indignation! ⁶ I do send him against an ungodly nation, and against the people of My wrath do I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

¹⁵ And the LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with His scorching wind will He shake His hand over the River, and will smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dry-shod. ¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, that shall remain from Assyria, like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?'

¹ Send ye the lambs for the ruler of the land from the crags that are toward the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

² That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of papyrus upon the waters! Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation tall and of glossy skin, to a people terrible from their beginning onward; a nation that is sturdy and treadeth down, whose land the rivers divide!

¹⁶ For thus hath the Lord said unto me: 'Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail;

³ The mind stayed on Thee Thou keepest in perfect peace; because it trusteth in Thee.

¹¹ LORD, Thy hand was lifted up, yet they see not; they shall see with shame Thy zeal for the people; yea, fire shall devour Thine adversaries.

⁹ Stupefy yourselves, and be stupid! Blind yourselves, and be blind! ye that are drunken, but not with wine, that stagger, but not with strong drink. ¹⁰ For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; the prophets, and your heads, the seers, hath He covered. ¹¹ And the vision of all this is become unto you as the words of a writing that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying: 'Read this, I pray thee'; and he saith: 'I cannot, for it is sealed'; ¹² and the writing is delivered to him that is not learned, saying: 'Read this, I pray thee'; and he saith: 'I am not learned.' ¹³ And the Lord said: Forasmuch as this people draw near, and with their mouth and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear of Me is a commandment of men learned by rote;

¹⁵ For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: in sitting still and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength; and ye would not.

³ And the eyes of them that see shall not be closed, and the ears of them that hear shall attend.

¹⁶ Then justice shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness shall abide in the fruitful field.

¹ The wilderness and the parched land shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

³ Strengthen ye the weak hands, and make firm the tottering knees. ⁴ Say to them that are of a fearful heart: 'Be strong, fear not'; behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God He will come and save you. ⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. ⁶ Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing; for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

⁸ And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those; the wayfaring men, yea fools, shall not err therein.

¹ Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.

³ Hark! one calleth: 'Clear ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make plain in the desert a highway for our God. ⁴ Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the rugged shall be made level, and the rough places a plain;

¹¹ Even as a shepherd that feedeth his flock, that gathereth the lambs in his arm, and carrieth them in his bosom, and gently leadeth those that give suck. ¹² Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

²² It is He that sitteth above the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;

²⁸ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? His discernment is past searching out. ²⁹ He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might He increaseth strength. ³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall; ³¹ But they that wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

³ He pursueth them, and passeth on safely; the way with his feet he treadeth not.

⁵ The isles saw, and feared; the ends of the earth trembled; they drew near, and came.

⁸ But thou, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend;

¹³ For I the LORD thy God hold thy right hand, who say unto thee: 'Fear not, I help thee.'

¹⁸ I will open rivers on the high hills, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. ¹⁹ I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia-tree, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree; I will set in the desert the cypress, the plane-tree, and the larch together;

²² Let them bring them forth, and declare unto us the things that shall happen; the former things, what are they? Declare ye, that we may consider, and know the end of them; or announce to us things to come. ²³ Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods; yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

¹ Behold My servant, whom I uphold; Mine elect, in whom My soul delighteth; I have put My spirit upon him, he shall make the right to go forth to the nations.

⁴ He shall not fail nor be crushed, till he have set the right in the earth; and the isles shall wait for his teaching.

⁷ To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

¹² Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare His praise in the islands.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not, in paths that they knew not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and rugged places plain. These things will I do, and I will not leave them undone.

²² But this is a people robbed and spoiled, they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses; they are for a prey, and none delivereth, for a spoil, and none saith: 'Restore.'

⁷ And who, as I, can proclaim - let him declare it, and set it in order for Me - since I appointed the ancient people? And the things that are coming, and that shall come to pass, let them declare. ⁸ Fear ye not, neither be afraid; have I not announced unto thee of old, and declared it? And ye are My witnesses. Is there a God beside Me? Yea, there is no Rock; I know not any.

¹¹ Behold, all the fellows thereof shall be ashamed; and the craftsmen skilled above men; let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they shall fear, they shall be ashamed together.

¹⁷ And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image; he falleth down unto it and worshippeth, and prayeth unto it, and saith: 'Deliver me, for thou art my god.'

²³ Sing, O ye heavens, for the LORD hath done it; shout, ye lowest parts of the earth; break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein; for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and doth glorify Himself in Israel. ²⁴ Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, and He that formed thee from the womb: I am the LORD, that maketh all things; that stretched forth the heavens alone; that spread abroad the earth by Myself;

²⁶ That confirmeth the word of His servant, and performeth the counsel of His messengers; that saith of Jerusalem: 'She shall be inhabited'; and of the cities of Judah: 'They shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places thereof'; ²⁷ That saith to the deep: 'Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers';

² I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the doors of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron;

⁷ I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I am the LORD, that doeth all these things.

³⁴ Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath set me down as an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his maw with my delicacies; he hath washed me clean. ³⁵ 'The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon', shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and: 'My blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea', shall Jerusalem say.

⁴ And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about. ⁵ So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. ⁶ In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land. ⁷ Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden - now the Chaldeans were against the city round about - and they went by the way of the Arabah. ⁸ But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him. ⁹ Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment upon him. ¹⁰ And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah. ¹¹ And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.

³¹ And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison.

¹⁴ The yoke of my transgressions is impressed by His hand; they are knit together, they are come up upon my neck; He hath made my strength to fail; the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, against whom I am not able to stand.

² 'Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of the rebellious house, that have eyes to see, and see not, that have ears to hear, and hear not; for they are a rebellious house.

²³ and they shall comfort you, when ye see their way and their doings, and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.'

³⁴ and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out;

²¹ Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you with the fire of My wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof. ²² As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out My fury upon you.'

³¹ and come unto thee as the people cometh, and sit before thee as My people, and hear thy words, but do them not - for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness;

¹⁶ I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick; and the fat and the strong I will destroy, I will feed them in justice.

²⁰ so that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field and all creeping things that creep upon the ground, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at My presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

²³ but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before thee, and thou and thy lords, thy consorts and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified;

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sin, and to forgive iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint the most holy place. ²⁵ Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto one anointed, a prince, shall be seven weeks; and for threescore and two weeks, it shall be built again, with broad place and moat, but in troublous times. ²⁶ And after the threescore and two weeks shall an anointed one be cut off, and be no more; and the people of a prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; but his end shall be with a flood; and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and upon the wing of detestable things shall be that which causeth appalment; and that until the extermination wholly determined be poured out upon that which causeth appalment.'

²⁰ But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand. ²¹ Then let them that are in Judea flee unto the mountains, and let them that are in the midst of her depart out, and let not them that are in the country enter therein. ²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. ²³ Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people. ²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat; ³² but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not, and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.

Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. ⁴⁵ Many therefore of the Jews, who came to Mary and beheld that which he did, believed on him. ⁴⁶ But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done. ⁴⁷ The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many signs. ⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him; and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation. ⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ nor do ye take account that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

¹⁹ When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. ²⁰ And when he had said this, he showed unto them his hands and his side. ³⁸ even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

¹⁷ Behold, thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God, ¹⁸ and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness, ²⁰ a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth, ²¹ thou therefore that teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

²⁵ whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God, ²⁶ for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season; that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus.

³¹ Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid; nay, we establish the law.

⁸ But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath of God through him. ¹⁰ For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life,

¹² So that the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: ⁴ that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: ³⁰ and whom he foreordained, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified. ³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

⁴ For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to every one that believeth.

⁷ What then? that which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not, but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened: ⁸ according as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day. ⁹ And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow thou down their back always.

¹⁵ Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet when it hath been confirmed, no one maketh it void, or addeth thereto. ¹⁶ Now to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. ¹⁷ Now this I say; A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, doth not disannul, so as to make the promise of none effect.

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid; for if there had been a law given which could make alive, verily righteousness would have been of the law.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ meekness, self-control, against such there is no law.

⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, ¹⁸ having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹⁰ Concerning which salvation the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: ¹¹ searching what time or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them. ¹² To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven, which things angel desire to look into.

⁴ unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,

⁹ But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ who, when he was reviled, reviled not again, when he suffered threatened not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering to us-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Amen.

¹⁸ By these three plagues was the third part of men killed, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone, which proceeded out of their mouths. ¹⁹ For the power of the horses is in their mouth, and in their tails; for their tails are like unto serpents, and have heads, and with them they hurt. ²⁰ And the rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk: ²¹ and they repented not of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

¹⁸ and there were lightnings, and thunders, and voices, and a great earthquake, such as was not since there were men upon the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty. ¹⁹ And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell; and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. ²⁰ And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. ²¹ And great hail, every stone about the weight of a talent, cometh down out of heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, for the plague thereof is exceeding great.

¹¹ And I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them.
