¹ And Iesus went vnto the mount of Oliues, ² And early in the morning came againe into the Temple, and all the people came vnto him, and he sate downe, and taught them. ³ Then the Scribes, and the Pharises brought vnto him a woman, taken in adulterie, and set her in the middes, ⁴ And said vnto him, Master, we foud this woman committing adulterie, euen in the very acte. ⁵ Now Moses in our Law commanded, that such should be stoned: what sayest thou therefore? ⁶ And this they saide to tempt him, that they might haue, whereof to accuse him. But Iesus stouped downe, and with his finger wrote on the groud. ⁷ And while they continued asking him, hee lift himselfe vp, and sayde vnto them, Let him that is among you without sinne, cast the first stone at her. ⁸ And againe hee stouped downe, and wrote on the ground. ⁹ And when they heard it, being accused by their owne conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at ye eldest euen to the last: so Iesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the mids. ¹⁰ When Iesus had lift vp himselfe againe, and sawe no man, but the woman, hee saide vnto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? ¹¹ She said, No man, Lord. And Iesus said, Neither do I condemne thee: go and sinne no more. ¹² Then spake Iesus againe vnto them, saying, I am that light of the worlde: hee that followeth mee, shall not walke in darkenes, but shall haue that light of life. ¹³ The Pharises therefore saide vnto him, Thou bearest recorde of thy selfe: thy recorde is not true. ¹⁴ Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them, Though I beare recorde of my selfe, yet my recorde is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I goe. ¹⁵ Ye iudge after the flesh: I iudge no man. ¹⁶ And if I also iudge, my iudgement is true: for I am not alone, but I, and the Father, that sent mee. ¹⁷ And it is also written in your Lawe, that the testimonie of two men is true. ¹⁸ I am one that beare witnes of my selfe, and the Father that sent me, beareth witnes of me. ¹⁹ Then saide they vnto him, Where is that Father of thine? Iesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor that Father of mine. If ye had knowen me, ye should haue knowen that Father of mine also. ²⁰ These wordes spake Iesus in the treasurie, as hee taught in the Temple, and no man layde handes on him: for his houre was not yet come. ²¹ Then saide Iesus againe vnto them, I goe my way, and ye shall seeke me, and shall die in your sinnes, Whither I goe, can ye not come. ²² Then said the Iewes, Will he kill himselfe, because he saith, Whither I goe, can ye not come? ²³ And hee saide vnto them, Ye are from beneath, I am from aboue: ye are of this world, I am not of this worlde. ²⁴ I said therefore vnto you, That ye shall die in your sinnes: for except ye beleeue, that I am he, ye shall die in your sinnes. ²⁵ Then saide they vnto him, Who art thou? And Iesus saide vnto them, Euen the same thing that I said vnto you from the beginning. ²⁶ I haue many things to say, and to iudge of you: but he that sent me, is true, and the things that I haue heard of him, those speake I to the world. ²⁷ They vnderstoode not that hee spake to them of the Father. ²⁸ Then said Iesus vnto them, When ye haue lift vp the Sonne of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I doe nothing of my selfe, but as my Father hath taught me, so I speake these things. ²⁹ For he that sent me, is with me: the Father hath not left me alone, because I do alwayes those things that please him. ³⁰ As hee spake these thinges, many beleeued in him. ³¹ Then saide Iesus to the Iewes which beleeued in him, If ye continue in my worde, ye are verely my disciples, ³² And shall know the trueth, and the trueth shall make you free. ³³ They answered him, Wee be Abrahams seede, and were neuer bonde to any man: why sayest thou then, Ye shalbe made free? ³⁴ Iesus answered them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, that whosoeuer committeth sinne, is the seruant of sinne. ³⁵ And the seruant abideth not in the house for euer: but the Sonne abideth for euer. ³⁶ If that Sonne therefore shall make you free, ye shalbe free in deede. ³⁷ I know that ye are Abrahams seede, but yee seeke to kill mee, because my worde hath no place in you. ³⁸ I speake that which I haue seene with my Father: and ye doe that which ye haue seene with your father. ³⁹ They answered, and saide vnto him, Abraham is our father. Iesus said vnto them, If ye were Abrahams children, ye woulde doe the workes of Abraham. ⁴⁰ But nowe ye goe about to kill mee, a man that haue told you the trueth, which I haue heard of God: this did not Abraham. ⁴¹ Ye do the workes of your father. Then said they to him, We are not borne of fornication: we haue one Father, which is God. ⁴² Therefore Iesus sayde vnto them, If God were your Father, then woulde ye loue mee: for I proceeded foorth, and came from God, neither came I of my selfe, but he sent me. ⁴³ Why doe ye not vnderstande my talke? because ye cannot heare my worde. ⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the deuill, and the lustes of your father ye will doe: hee hath bene a murtherer from the beginning, and abode not in the trueth, because there is no trueth in him. When hee speaketh a lie, then speaketh hee of his owne: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. ⁴⁵ And because I tell you the trueth, yee beleeue me not. ⁴⁶ Which of you can rebuke me of sinne? and if I say the trueth, why do ye not beleeue me? ⁴⁷ He that is of God, heareth Gods wordes: yee therefore heare them not, because ye are not of God. ⁴⁸ Then answered the Iewes, and said vnto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritane, and hast a deuil? ⁴⁹ Iesus answered, I haue not a deuil, but I honour my Father, and ye haue dishonoured me. ⁵⁰ And I seeke not mine owne praise: but there is one that seeketh it, and iudgeth. ⁵¹ Verely, verely I say vnto you, If a man keepe my word, he shall neuer see death. ⁵² Then said the Iewes to him, Now know we that thou hast a deuill. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets: and thou sayest, If a man keepe my worde, he shall neuer taste of death. ⁵³ Art thou greater then our father Abraham, which is dead? and the Prophets are dead: whome makest thou thy selfe? ⁵⁴ Iesus answered, If I honour my selfe, mine honour is nothing worth: it is my Father that honoureth me, whome ye say, that hee is your God. ⁵⁵ Yet ye haue not knowen him: but I knowe him, and if I should say I know him not, I should be a liar like vnto you: but I knowe him, and keepe his worde. ⁵⁶ Your father Abraham reioyced to see my day, and he sawe it, and was glad. ⁵⁷ Then sayd ye Iewes vnto him, Thou art not yet fiftie yeere olde, and hast thou seene Abraham? ⁵⁸ Iesus sayd vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, before Abraham was, I am. ⁵⁹ Then tooke they vp stones, to cast at him, but Iesus hid himselfe, and went out of the Temple: And hee passed through the middes of them, and so went his way.

³ But of the fruite of the tree which is in the middes of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eate of it, neither shall ye touche it, lest ye die. ⁴ Then the serpent said to the woman, Ye shall not die at all, ⁵ But God doeth knowe, that when ye shall eate thereof, your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and euill. ⁶ So the woman (seeing that the tree was good for meate, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to get knowledge) tooke of the fruite thereof, and did eate, and gaue also to her husband with her, and he did eate. ⁷ Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knewe that they were naked, and they sewed figge tree leaues together, and made them selues breeches.

¹⁵ I will also put enimitie betweene thee and the woman, and betweene thy seede and her seede. He shall breake thine head, and thou shalt bruise his heele.

⁸ Then Kain spake to Habel his brother. And when they were in the fielde, Kain rose vp against Habel his brother, and slewe him. ⁹ Then the Lord said vnto Kain, Where is Habel thy brother? Who answered, I cannot tell. Am I my brothers keeper?

¹³ Then he saide to Abram, Knowe for a suretie, that thy seede shalbe a stranger in a land, that is not theirs, foure hundreth yeeres, and shall serue them: and they shall intreate them euill.

¹¹ Then they smote the men that were at the doore of the house with blindnes both small and great, so that they were wearie in seeking the doore.

¹⁰ Wherefore she saide vnto Abraham, Cast out this bond woman and her sonne: for ye sonne of this bonde woman shall not be heire with my sonne Izhak.

¹⁸ And in thy seede shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voyce.

²¹ And they said one to another, We haue verily sinned against our brother, in that we sawe the anguish of his soule, when he besought vs, and we would not heare him: therefore is this trouble come vpon vs. ²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Warned I not you, saying, Sinne not against the childe, and ye would not heare? and lo, his blood is now required.

⁹ Iudah, as a Lions whelpe shalt thou come vp from the spoyle, my sonne. He shall lye downe and couche as a Lion, and as a Lionesse: Who shall stirre him vp?

¹³ Wherefore the Egyptians by crueltie caused the children of Israel to serue. ¹⁴ Thus they made them weary of their liues by sore labour in clay and in bricke, and in al worke in the fielde, with all maner of bondage, which they layde vpon them most cruelly.

¹⁴ And God answered Moses, I Am That I Am. Also he said, Thus shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me vnto you.

²² Then thou shalt say to Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my sonne, euen my first borne.

¹⁰ And the man that committeth adulterie with another mans wife, because he hath comitted adulterie with his neighbours wife, the adulterer and the adulteresse shall die the death.

¹⁶ And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shalbe put to death: all the Congregation shall stone him to death: aswell the stranger, as he that is borne in the lande: when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, let him beslaine.

⁴² For they are my seruants, whom I brought out of the lande of Egypt: they shall not be solde as bondmen are solde.

³ (But Moses was a verie meeke man, aboue all the men that were vpon the earth)

²² For all those men which haue seene my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wildernes, and haue tempted me this ten times, and haue not obeyed my voyce,

²⁸ And Moses saide, Hereby yee shall knowe that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works: for I haue not done them of mine owne minde. ²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men, the Lord hath not sent me. ³⁰ But if the Lord make a newe thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallowe them vp with all that they haue, and they goe downe quicke into ye pit, then ye shall vnderstand that these men haue prouoked the Lord.

¹ Ye are the children of the Lord your God. Ye shall not cut yourselues, nor make you any baldnesse betweene your eyes for the dead.

¹⁸ Iudges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy cities, which the Lord thy God giueth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall iudge the people with righteous iudgement.

⁶ At the mouth of two or three witnesses shall he that is woorthie of death, die: but at the mouth of one witnesse, he shall not die.

¹⁵ One witnes shall not rise against a man for any trespasse, or for any sinne, or for any fault that hee offendeth in, but at the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses shall the matter be stablished.

²¹ Then shall they bring forth the mayde to the doore of her fathers house, and the men of her citie shall stone her with stones to death: for shee hath wrought follie in Israel, by playing ye whore in her fathers house: so thou shalt put euill away from among you. ²² If a man be found lying with a woman marryed to a man, then they shall dye euen both twaine: to wit, the man that lay with the wife, and the wife: so thou shalt put away euil from Israel. ²³ If a maid be betrothed vnto an husband, and a man finde her in the towne and lye with her, ²⁴ Then shall yee bring them both out vnto the gates of the same citie, and shall stone them with stones to death: the mayde because she cried not, being in the citie, and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbours wife: so thou shalt put away euill from among you.

⁶ Doe ye so rewarde the Lord, O foolish people and vnwise? is not he thy father, that hath bought thee? he hath made thee, and proportioned thee.

¹⁸ And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)

⁸ Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he solde them into the hand of Chushan rishathaim King of Aram-naharaim, and the children of Israel serued Chushan rishathaim eyght yeeres.

³ Then the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord: (for he had nine hundreth charets of yron, and twentie yeeres he had vexed the children of Israel very sore)

¹⁴ If ye wil feare the Lord and serue him, and heare his voyce, and not disobey the worde of the Lord, both yee, and the King that reigneth ouer you, shall follow the Lord your God.

⁷ But the Lord said vnto Samuel, Looke not on his countenance, nor on the height of his stature, because I haue refused him: for God seeth not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord beholdeth the heart.

⁴⁴ The King sayde also to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickednes whereunto thine heart is priuie, that thou diddest to Dauid my father: the Lord therefore shall bring thy wickednesse vpon thine owne head.

¹⁸ And she said vnto Eliiah, What haue I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come vnto me to call my sinne to remembrance, and to slay my sonne?

¹⁰ As the Lord thy God liueth, there is no nation or kingdome, whither my lorde hath not sent to seeke thee: and when they sayd, He is not here, he tooke an othe of the kingdome and nation, if they had not found thee.

¹⁰ And set two wicked men before him, and let them witnesse against him, saying, Thou diddest blaspheme God and the King: then cary him out, and stone him that he may dye.

²⁵ (But there was none like Ahab, who did fell him selfe, to worke wickednesse in the sight of the Lord: whom Iezebel his wife prouoked.

²² And he sayd, I will goe out, and be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. Then he sayd, Thou shalt entise him, and shalt also preuayle: goe forth, and doe so.

¹⁶ And said vnto him, Beholde nowe, there be with thy seruants fiftie strong men: let them go, we pray thee, and seeke thy master, if so be the Spirite of the Lord hath taken him vp, and cast him vpon some mountaine, or into some valley. But he said, Ye shall not sende. ¹⁷ Yet they were instant vpon him, til he was ashamed: wherefore he saide, Sende. So they sent fiftie men, which sought three dayes, but founde him not.

¹⁸ So they came downe to him, but Elisha prayed vnto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindnesse. And he smote them with blindnes, according to the worde of Elisha. ¹⁹ And Elisha said vnto them, This is not the way, neither is this the citie: follow me, and I will leade you to the man whome ye seeke. But he ledde them to Samaria. ²⁰ And when they were come to Samaria, Elisha saide, Lord, open their eyes that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw, and beholde, they were in the mids of Samaria.

²⁶ For these foure chiefe porters were in perpetuall office, and were of the Leuites and had charge of the chambers, and of the treasures in the house of God.

¹ And Satan stoode vp against Israel, and prouoked Dauid to nomber Israel.

²⁰ Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein? ²¹ And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so. ²² Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.

⁹ For though we were bondmen, yet our God hath not forsaken vs in our bondage, but hath enclined mercy vnto vs in the sight of the Kings of Persia, to giue vs life, and to erect the house of our God, and to redresse the places thereof, and to giue vs a wall in Iudah and in Ierusalem.

⁴ There were also that said, We haue borowed money for the Kings tribute vpon our landes and our vineyardes. ⁵ And nowe our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, and our sonnes as their sonnes: and lo, we bring into subiection our sonnes and our daughters, as seruants, and there be of our daughters nowe in subiection, and there is no power in our handes: for other men haue our landes and our vineyardes. ⁶ Then was I very angrie when I heard their crie and these wordes. ⁷ And I thought in my minde, and I rebuked the princes, and the rulers, and saide vnto them, You lay burthens euery one vpon his brethren: and I set a great assemblie against them, ⁸ And I said vnto them, We (according to our abilitie) haue redeemed our brethren the Iewes, which were solde vnto the heathen: and will you sell your brethren againe, or shall they be solde vnto vs? Then helde they their peace, and could not answere.

¹⁴ And from the time that the King gaue me charge to be gouernour in the lande of Iudah, from the twentieth yeere, euen vnto the two and thirtieth yeere of King Artahshashte, that is, twelue yeere, I, and my brethren haue not eaten the bread of the gouernour. ¹⁵ For the former gouernours that were before me, had bene chargeable vnto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, besides fourtie shekels of siluer: yea, and their seruants bare rule ouer the people: but so did not I, because of the feare of God. ¹⁶ But rather I fortified a portion in the worke of this wall, and we bought no lande, and all my seruants came thither together vnto the worke. ¹⁷ Moreouer there were at my table an hundreth and fiftie of the Iewes, and rulers, which came vnto vs from among the heathen that are about vs. ¹⁸ And there was prepared daily an oxe, and sixe chosen sheepe, and birdes were prepared for me, and within ten dayes wine for all in abundance. Yet for all this I required not the bread of the gouernour: for the bondage was grieuous vnto this people. ¹⁹ Remember me, O my God, in goodnesse, according to all that I haue done for this people.

²⁷ Therefore thou deliueredst them into the hande of their enemies that vexed them: yet in the time of their affliction, when they cryed vnto thee, thou heardest them from the heauen, and through thy great mercies thou gauest them sauiours, who saued them out of the hande of their aduersaries. ²⁸ But when they had rest, they returned to doe euill before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hande of their enemies, so that they had the dominion ouer them, yet when they conuerted and cryed vnto thee, thou heardest them from heauen, and deliueredst them according to thy great mercies many times,

³⁶ Beholde, we are seruants this day, and the lande that thou gauest vnto our fathers, to eate the fruite thereof, and the goodnesse thereof, beholde, we are seruants therein. ³⁷ And it yeeldeth much fruit vnto the kings whom thou hast set ouer vs, because of our sinnes: and they haue dominion ouer our bodyes and ouer our cattell at their pleasure, and we are in great affliction.

¹¹ But stretch out now thine hand and touch all that he hath, to see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face.

⁴ And Satan answered the Lord, and sayde, Skin for skin, and all that euer a man hath, will he giue for his life. ⁵ But stretch now out thine hand, and touch his bones and his flesh, to see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face. ⁶ Then the Lord said vnto Satan, Lo, he is in thine hand, but saue his life.

¹² He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise. ¹³ He taketh the wise in their craftinesse, and the counsel of the wicked is made foolish.

⁵ That the reioycing of the wicked is short, and that the ioy of hypocrites is but a moment?

¹¹ His bones are full of the sinne of his youth, and it shall lie downe with him in the dust.

²⁷ The heauen shall declare his wickednes, and the earth shall rise vp against him.

²⁸ He will deliuer his soule from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

³¹ Surely it appertaineth vnto God to say, I haue pardoned, I will not destroy.

⁶ Euen I haue set my King vpon Zion mine holy mountaine. ⁷ I will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said vnto me, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee. ⁸ Aske of me, and I shall giue thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the endes of the earth for thy possession. ⁹ Thou shalt krush them with a scepter of yron, and breake them in pieces like a potters vessell. ¹⁰ Be wise nowe therefore, ye Kings: be learned ye Iudges of the earth. ¹¹ Serue the Lord in feare, and reioyce in trembling. ¹² Kisse the sonne, least he be angry, and ye perish in the way, when his wrath shall suddenly burne. blessed are all that trust in him.

¹⁵ The heathen are sunken downe in the pit that they made: in the nette that they hid, is their foote taken. ¹⁶ The Lord is knowen by executing iudgement: the wicked is snared in the worke of his owne handes. Higgaion. Selah.

⁴ Concerning the workes of men, by the wordes of thy lips I kept mee from the paths of the cruell man.

²⁸ Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God wil lighten my darkenes.

¹³ Keepe thy seruant also from presumptuous sinnes: let them not reigne ouer me: so shall I be vpright, and made cleane from much wickednes.

⁶ But I am a worme, and not a man: a shame of men, and the contempt of the people.

⁵ Leade me foorth in thy trueth, and teache me: for thou art the God of my saluation: in thee doe I trust all the day.

⁸ Gracious and righteous is the Lord: therefore will he teache sinners in the way. ⁹ Them that be meeke, will hee guide in iudgement, and teach the humble his way.

¹⁸ Let the lying lips be made dumme, which cruelly, proudly and spitefully speake against the righteous.

¹² The wicked practiseth against the iust, and gnasheth his teeth against him.

³² The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

¹² They also, that seeke after my life, laye snares, and they that go about to do me euil, talke wicked things and imagine deceite continually. ¹³ But I as a deafe man heard not, and am as a dumme man, which openeth not his mouth. ¹⁴ Thus am I as a man, that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofes.

¹ To the excellent musician Ieduthun. I thought, I will take heede to my wayes, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth brideled, while the wicked is in my sight.

¹⁴ Let them be confounded and put to shame together, that seeke my soule to destroye it: let them be driuen backward and put to rebuke, that desire mine hurt.

⁶ Thy throne, O God, is for euer and euer: the scepter of thy kingdome is a scepter of righteousnesse. ⁷ Thou louest righteousnes, and hatest wickednesse, because God, euen thy God hath anoynted thee with the oyle of gladnes aboue thy fellowes.

¹⁹ He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.

¹⁶ But vnto the wicked said God, What hast thou to doe to declare mine ordinances, that thou shouldest take my couenant in thy mouth, ¹⁷ Seeing thou hatest to bee reformed, and hast cast my wordes behinde thee? ¹⁸ For when thou seest a thiefe, thou runnest with him, and thou art partaker with the adulterers. ¹⁹ Thou giuest thy mouth to euill, and with thy tongue thou forgest deceit. ²⁰ Thou sittest, and speakest against thy brother, and slanderest thy mothers sonne. ²¹ These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue: therefore thou thoughtest that I was like thee: but I will reproue thee, and set them in order before thee.

¹ To him that excelleth. Destroy not. A Psalme of David on Michtam. Is it true? O Congregation, speake ye iustly? O sonnes of men, iudge ye vprightly? ² Yea, rather ye imagine mischiefe in your heart: your hands execute crueltie vpon the earth.

¹³ Let them be confounded and consumed that are against my soule: let them be couered with reproofe and confusion, that seeke mine hurt.

¹ A Psalme of Salomon. Give thy iudgements to the King, O God, and thy righteousnesse to the Kings sonne. ² Then shall he iudge thy people in righteousnesse, and thy poore with equitie.

¹⁸ Surely thou hast set them in slipperie places, and castest them downe into desolation. ¹⁹ How suddenly are they destroyed, perished and horribly consumed, ²⁰ As a dreame when one awaketh! O Lord, when thou raisest vs vp, thou shalt make their image despised.

⁴⁸ What man liueth, and shall not see death? shall hee deliuer his soule from the hande of the graue? Selah.

²⁰ Hath the throne of iniquitie fellowship with thee, which forgeth wrong for a Lawe? ²¹ They gather them together against the soule of the righteous, and condemne the innocent blood.

¹¹ Light is sowen for the righteous, and ioy for the vpright in heart.

⁹ Before the Lord: for he is come to iudge the earth: with righteousnesse shall hee iudge the world, and the people with equitie.

⁴ And the Kings power, that loueth iudgement: for thou hast prepared equitie: thou hast executed iudgement and iustice in Iaakob.

¹ A Psalme of David. The Lord said vnto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, vntill I make thine enemies thy footestoole. ² The Lord shall send the rod of thy power out of Zion: be thou ruler in the middes of thine enemies. ³ Thy people shall come willingly at the time of assembling thine armie in holy beautie: the youth of thy wombe shalbe as the morning dewe. ⁴ The Lord sware and wil not repent, Thou art a Priest for euer after ye order of Melchi-zedek.

³² I will runne the way of thy commandements, when thou shalt enlarge mine heart.

⁴⁵ And I will walke at libertie: for I seeke thy precepts.

¹³³ Direct my steppes in thy worde, and let none iniquitie haue dominion ouer me.

⁴ Our soule is filled too full of ye mocking of the wealthy, and of the despitefulnes of the proude.

²³ (Turne you at my correction: loe, I will powre out my mind vnto you, and make you vnderstand my wordes)

²⁹ Because they hated knowledge, and did not chuse the feare of the Lord.

¹ My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee, ² And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding, ³ (For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding: ⁴ If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures, ⁵ Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding. ⁷ He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,

¹⁸ But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.

²² His owne iniquities shall take the wicked himselfe, and he shall be holden with the cordes of his owne sinne.

²² The Lord hath possessed me in the beginning of his way: I was before his workes of olde. ²³ I was set vp from euerlasting, from the beginning and before the earth. ²⁴ When there were no depths, was I begotten, when there were no fountaines abounding with water. ²⁵ Before the mountaines were setled: and before the hilles, was I begotten. ²⁶ He had not yet made the earth, nor the open places, nor the height of the dust in the worlde. ²⁷ When hee prepared the heauens, I was there, when he set the compasse vpon the deepe. ²⁸ When he established the cloudes aboue, when he confirmed the fountaines of the deepe, ²⁹ When he gaue his decree to the Sea, that the waters shoulde not passe his commandement: when he appointed the foundations of the earth, ³⁰ Then was I with him as a nourisher, and I was dayly his delight reioycing alway before him,

⁷ When a wicked man dieth, his hope perisheth, and the hope of the vniust shall perish.

¹⁸ There is that speaketh wordes like the prickings of a sworde: but the tongue of wise men is health.

³² The wicked shall be cast away for his malice: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

²⁷ It is not good to eate much hony: so to search their owne glory is not glory.

⁴ Answer not a foole according to his foolishnes, least thou also be like him. ⁵ Answere a foole according to his foolishnes, least he be wise in his owne conceite.

¹⁷ He that passeth by and medleth with the strife that belongeth not vnto him, is as one that taketh a dog by the eares.

⁵ Wicked men vnderstand not iudgemnt: but they that seeke the Lord vnderstand all things.

¹³ He that hideth his sinnes, shall not prosper: but he that confesseth, and forsaketh them, shall haue mercy.

⁷ A time to rent, and a time to sowe: a time to keepe silence, and a time to speake.

²² Surely there is no man iust in the earth, that doeth good and sinneth not.

¹⁰ All that thine hand shall finde to doe, doe it with all thy power: for there is neither worke nor inuention, nor knowledge, nor wisedome in the graue whither thou goest.

⁷ If thou knowe not, O thou the fairest among women, get thee foorth by the steps of the flocke, and feede thy kiddes by the tents of the shepheards. ⁸ I haue compared thee, O my loue, to the troupe of horses in the charets of Pharaoh.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you cleane: take away the euill of your workes from before mine eyes: cease to doe euill. ¹⁷ Learne to doe well: seeke iudgement, relieue the oppressed: iudge the fatherlesse and defend the widowe. ¹⁸ Come nowe, and let vs reason together, sayth the Lord: though your sinnes were as crimsin, they shalbe made white as snowe: though they were red like skarlet, they shalbe as wooll.

³ And many people shall go, and say, Come, and let vs go vp to the mountaine of the Lord, to the house of the God of Iaakob, and hee will teach vs his wayes, and we will walke in his paths: for the Lawe shall go foorth of Zion, and the worde of the Lord from Ierusalem,

⁹ And he sayd, Goe, and say vnto this people, Ye shall heare in deede, but ye shall not vnderstand: ye shall plainely see, and not perceiue.

² The people that walked in darkenes haue seene a great light: they that dwelled in the land of the shadowe of death, vpon them hath the light shined.

⁶ For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace, ⁷ The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.

² And the Spirite of the Lord shall rest vpon him: the Spirite of wisedome and vnderstanding, the Spirite of counsell and strength, the Spirite of knowledge, and of the feare of the Lord, ³ And shall make him prudent in the feare of the Lord: for he shall not iudge after the sight of his eies, neither reproue by ye hearing of his eares. ⁴ But with righteousnesse shall he iudge the poore, and with equitie shall he reprooue for the meeke of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lippes shall he slay the wicked. ⁵ And iustice shall be ye girdle of his loynes, and faithfulnesse the girdle of his reines.

²¹ And thine eares shall heare a worde behind thee, saying, This is the way, walke ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand, and when thou turnest to the left.

¹ Behold, a King shall reigne in iustice, and the princes shall rule in iudgement. ² And that man shall bee as an hiding place from the winde, and as a refuge for the tempest: as riuers of water in a drie place, and as the shadowe of a great rocke in a weary land.

⁸ And there shalbe a path and a way, and the way shalbe called holy: the polluted shall not passe by it: for he shalbe with them, and walke in the way, and the fooles shall not erre.

¹¹ Beholde, all they that prouoke thee, shalbe ashamed, and confounded: they shalbe as nothing, and they that striue with thee, shall perish. ¹² Thou shalt seeke them and shalt not finde them: to wit, the men of thy strife, for they shall be as nothing, and the men that warre against thee, as a thing of nought.

¹ Behold, my seruaunt: I will stay vpon him: mine elect, in whom my soule deliteth: I haue put my Spirit vpon him: he shall bring forth iudgement to the Gentiles.

¹⁸ Heare, ye deafe: and ye blinde, regarde, that ye may see. ¹⁹ Who is blinde but my seruaunt? or deafe as my messenger, that I sent? who is blind as the perfit, and blinde as the Lordes seruant? ²⁰ Seeing many things, but thou keepest them not? opening the eares, but he heareth not? ²¹ The Lord is willing for his righteousnesse sake that he may magnifie the Lawe, and exalt it.

¹³ Yea, before the day was, I am, and there is none that can deliuer out of mine hand: I will doe it, and who shall let it?

⁶ Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel and his redeemer, the Lord of hostes, I am the first, and I am the last, and without me is there no God.

⁸ Feare ye not, neither be afraide: haue not I tolde thee of olde, and haue declared it? you are euen my witnesses, whether there be a God beside me, and that there is no God that I knowe not.

¹⁸ They haue not knowen, nor vnderstand: for God hath shut their eyes that they cannot see, and their heartes, that they cannot vnderstand.

⁹ Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none other God, and there is nothing like me,

⁴ The Lord God hath giuen me a tongue of the learned, that I shoulde knowe to minister a woord in time to him that is weary: he will raise me vp in the morning: in the morning hee will waken mine eare to heare, as the learned. ⁵ The Lord God hath opened mine eare and I was not rebellious, neither turned I backe. ⁶ I gaue my backe vnto the smiters, and my cheekes to the nippers: I hidde not my face from shame and spitting. ⁷ For the Lord God will helpe me, therefore shall I not bee confounded: therefore haue I set my face like a flint, and I knowe that I shall not be ashamed. ⁸ Hee is neere that iustifieth mee: who will contend with me? Let vs stande together: who is mine aduersarie? let him come neere to me. ⁹ Beholde, the Lord God will helpe me: who is he that can condemne me? loe, they shall waxe olde as a garment: the mothe shall eate them vp. ¹⁰ Who is among you that feareth the Lord? let him heare the voyce of his seruant: hee that walketh in darkenesse, and hath no light, let him trust in the Name of the Lord, and staye vpon his God.

³ He is despised and reiected of men: he is a man full of sorowes and hath experience of infirmities: we hidde as it were our faces from him: he was despised and we esteemed him not.

¹³ And all thy children shalbe taught of the Lord, and much peace shalbe to thy children.

⁶ Seeke ye the Lord while he may be found: call ye vpon him while he is neere.

³ But you witches children, come hither, the seede of the adulterer and of the whore. ⁴ On whome haue ye iested? vpon whome haue ye gaped and thrust out your tongue? are not ye rebellious children, and a false seede? ⁵ Inflamed with idoles vnder euery greene tree? and sacrificing the children in the valleys vnder the tops of the rocks? ⁶ Thy portion is in the smooth stones of the riuer: they, they are thy lot: euen to them hast thou powred a drinke offering: thou hast offered a sacrifice. Should I delite in these? ⁷ Thou hast made thy bed vpon a very hie mountaine: thou wentest vp thither, euen thither wentest thou to offer sacrifice.

¹⁰ Wee grope for the wall like the blinde, and we grope as one without eyes: we stumble at the noone day as in the twilight: we are in solitarie places, as dead men.

¹ Arise, O Ierusalem: be bright, for thy light is come, and the glorie of the Lord is risen vpon thee. ² For beholde, darkenesse shall couer the earth, and grosse darkenesse the people: but the Lord shall arise vpon thee, and his glory shall be seene vpon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall walke in thy light, and Kings at the brightnesse of thy rising vp.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord God is vpon mee, therefore hath the Lord anoynted mee: hee hath sent mee to preache good tidings vnto the poore, to binde vp the broken hearted, to preach libertie to the captiues, and to them that are bound, the opening of the prison,

¹⁶ Doutles thou art our Father: though Abraham be ignorant of vs, and Israel knowe vs not, yet thou, O Lord, art our Father, and our redeemer: thy Name is for euer.

⁸ But now, O Lord, thou art our Father: we are the clay, and thou art our potter, and we all are the worke of thine hands.

²⁰ There shall be no more there a childe of yeeres, nor an olde man that hath not filled his dayes: for he that shall be an hundreth yeeres old, shall dye as a yong man: but the sinner being an hundreth yeeres olde shall be accursed.

⁵ Heare the worde of the Lord, all ye that tremble at his worde, Your brethren that hated you, and cast you out for my Names sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appeare to your ioy, and they shall be ashamed.

¹⁹ But I sayde, Howe did I take thee for children and giue thee a pleasant lande, euen the glorious heritage of the armies of the heathen, and saide, Thou shalt call mee, saying, My father, and shalt not turne from me?

²² For my people is foolish, they haue not knowen me: they are foolish children, and haue none vnderstanding: they are wise to doe euill, but to doe well they haue no knowledge.

¹⁰ Vnto whome shall I speake, and admonish that they may heare? beholde, their eares are vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the worde of the Lord is vnto them as a reproche: they haue no delite in it.

¹⁶ Thus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.

³ And they bende their tongues like their bowes for lyes: but they haue no courage for the trueth vpon the earth: for they proceede from euill to worse, and they haue not knowen mee, sayth the Lord.

¹³ O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee, shall be confounded: they that depart from thee, shalbe written in the earth, because they haue forsaken the Lord, the fountaine of liuing waters.

¹⁶ When he iudged the cause of the afflicted and the poore, he prospered: was not this because he knewe me, saith the Lord?

⁵ Behold, The dayes come, saith the Lord, that I will raise vnto Dauid a righteous branche, and a King shall reigne, and prosper, and shall execute iudgement, and iustice in the earth. ⁶ In his dayes Iudah shalbe saued, and Israel shall dwell safely, and this is the Name wherby they shall call him, The Lord our righteousnesse.

²⁹ Is not my word euen like a fire, sayeth the Lord? and like an hammer, that breaketh the stone?

⁷ And I will giue them an heart to knowe me, that I am the Lord, and they shalbe my people, and I wil be their God: for they shall returne vnto mee with their whole heart.

³ From the thirteenth yeere of Iosiah the sonne of Amon King of Iudah, euen vnto this day (that is the three and twentieth yeere) the word of the Lord hath come vnto mee, and I haue spoken vnto you rising earely and speaking, but ye woulde not heare.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my deare sonne or pleasant childe? yet since I spake vnto him, I still remembred him: therefore my bowels are troubled for him: I wil surely haue compassion vpon him, saith the Lord.

³³ But this shall be the couenant that I will make with the house of Israel, After those dayes, saith the Lord, I will put my Lawe in their inward partes, and write it in their hearts, and wil be their God, and they shalbe my people. ³⁴ And they shall teach no more euery man his neighbour and euery man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me from the least of them vnto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I wil forgiue their iniquitie, and will remember their sinnes no more.

⁴ Howbeit I sent vnto you all my seruats the Prophets rising earely, and sending them, saying, Oh doe not this abominable thing that I hate.

¹⁸ When I shall say vnto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die, and thou giuest not him warning, nor speakest to admonish the wicked of his wicked way, that he may liue, the same wicked man shall die in his iniquitie: but his blood will I require at thine hande. ¹⁹ Yet if thou warne the wicked, and he turne not from his wickednesse, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquitie, but thou hast deliuered thy soule.

²⁰ Moreouer thou hast taken thy sonnes and thy daughters, whome thou hast borne vnto me, and these hast thou sacrificed vnto them, to be deuoured: is this thy whoredome a small matter? ²¹ That thou hast slaine my children, and deliuered them to cause them to passe through fire for them?

³⁸ And I wil iudge thee after ye maner of them that are harlots, and of them that shead blood, and I wil giue thee the blood of wrath and ielousie. ³⁹ I will also giue thee into their handes, and they shall destroy thine hie place, and shall breake downe thine hie places. they shall strippe thee also out of thy clothes, and shall take thy faire iewels, and leaue thee naked and bare. ⁴⁰ They shall also bring vp a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swordes.

³⁰ Therefore I will iudge you, O house of Israel, euery one according to his wayes, sayth the Lord God: returne therefore and cause others to turne away from all your transgressions: so iniquitie shall not be your destruction. ³¹ Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye haue transgressed, and make you a newe heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? ³² For I desire not the death of him that dyeth, sayth the Lord God: cause therefore one another to returne, and liue ye.

⁴⁵ And ye righteous men they shall iudge them, after the maner of harlots, and after the maner of murtherers: for they are harlots, and blood is in their hands. ⁴⁶ Wherefore thus sayth the Lord God, I will bring a multitude vpon them, and will giue them vnto the tumult, and to the spoyle, ⁴⁷ And the multitude shall stone them with stones, and cut them with their swordes: they shall slay their sonnes, and their daughters, and burne vp their houses with fire.

¹⁷ But if hee giue a gift of his inheritance to one of his seruantes, then it shall bee his to the yere of libertie: after, it shall returne to ye prince, but his inheritance shall remaine to his sonnes for them.

⁵ At the same houre appeared fingers of a mans hand, which wrote ouer against the candlesticke vpon the plaister of the wall of ye Kings palace, and the King sawe the palme of the hand that wrote.

¹³ As I behelde in visions by night, behold, one like the sonne of man came in the cloudes of heauen, and approched vnto the Ancient of dayes, and they brought him before him. ¹⁴ And he gaue him dominion, and honour, and a kingdome, that all people, nations and languages should serue him: his dominion is an euerlasting dominion, which shall neuer bee taken away: and his kingdome shall neuer be destroyed.

² At the beginning the Lord spake by Hosea, and the Lord said vnto Hosea, Goe, take vnto thee a wife of fornications, and children of fornications: for the lande hath committed great whoredome, departing from the Lord.

⁹ Then saide God, Call his name Lo-ammi: for yee are not my people: therefore will I not be yours.

² Plead with your mother: plead with her: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: but let her take away her fornications out of her sight, and her adulteries from betweene her breasts. ³ Lest I strippe her naked, and set her as in the day that shee was borne, and make her as a wildernes, and leaue her like a drie land, and slaie her for thirst. ⁴ And I wil haue no pitie vpon her children: for they be the children of fornications. ⁵ For their mother hath plaied the harlot: she that conceiued them, hath done shamefully: for shee said, I will goe after my louers that giue me my bread and my water, my wooll and my flaxe, mine oyle and my drinke.

⁴ They will not giue their mindes to turne vnto their God: for the spirit of fornication is in the middes of them, and they haue not knowen the Lord.

³ Then shall we haue knowledge, and indeuour our selues to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning, and he shall come vnto vs as the raine, and as the latter raine vnto the earth.

⁹ Ephraim shall say, What haue I to doe any more with idoles? I haue heard him, and looked vpon him: I am like a greene firre tree: vpon me is thy fruite founde. [ (Hosea 14:10) Who is wise, and he shall vnderstande these things? and prudent, and he shall knowe them? for the wayes of the Lord are righteous, and the iust shall walke in them: but the wicked shall fall therein. ]

⁷ They turne iudgement to wormewood, and leaue off righteousnes in the earth.

¹⁰ They haue hated him, that rebuked in the gate: and they abhorred him that speaketh vprightly.

¹³ Therefore the prudent shall keepe silence in that time, for it is an euill time.

¹² Shal horses runne vpon the rocke? or wil one plowe there with oxen? for yee haue turned iudgement into gall, and the fruite of righteousnes into wormewood.

¹² But they knowe not the thoughtes of the Lord: they vnderstand not his counsell, for he shall gather them as the sheaues in the barne.

² And thou Beth-leem Ephrathah art litle to bee among the thousandes of Iudah, yet out of thee shall he come forth vnto me, that shalbe the ruler in Israel: whose goings forth haue bene from the beginning and from euerlasting.

⁴ Therefore the Lawe is dissolued, and iudgement doeth neuer go forth: for the wicked doeth compasse about the righteous: therefore wrong iudgement proceedeth. ⁵ your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer? ⁶ But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.

⁹ Reioyce greatly, O daughter Zion: shoute for ioy, O daughter Ierusalem: beholde, thy King commeth vnto thee: he is iust and saued himselfe, poore and riding vpon an asse, and vpon a colt the foale of an asse.

¹¹ Thou also shalt be saued through the blood of thy couenant. I haue loosed thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. ¹² Turne you to the strong holde, ye prisoners of hope: euen to day doe I declare, that I will render the double vnto thee.

⁶ A sonne honoureth his father, and a seruant his master. If then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my feare, sayth the Lord of hostes vnto you, O Priestes, that despise my Name? and yee say, Wherein haue we despised thy Name?

¹¹ Iudah hath transgressed, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Ierusalem: for Iudah hath defiled the holinesse of the Lord, which hee loued, and hath maried the daughter of a strange God.

² But vnto you that feare my Name, shall the sunne of righteousnesse arise, and health shall be vnder his wings, and ye shall goe forth, and growe vp as fat calues.

⁷ Now when he sawe many of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces come to his baptisme, he said vnto them, O generations of vipers, who hath forewarned you to flee from the anger to come?

⁹ And thinke not to say with your selues, We haue Abraham to our father: for I say vnto you, that God is able euen of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham.

¹ And when he sawe the multitude, he went vp into a mountaine: and when he was set, his disciples came to him. ² And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

¹⁴ Ye are the light of the world. A citie that is set on an hill, cannot be hid.

¹⁷ Think not that I am come to destroy the Lawe, or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy them, but to fulfill them. ¹⁸ For truely I say vnto you, Till heauen, and earth perish, one iote or one title of the Law shall not scape, till all things be fulfilled.

⁴⁵ That ye may be the children of your father that is in heauen: for he maketh his sunne to arise on the euill, and the good, and sendeth raine on the iust, and vniust.

¹ Judge not, that ye be not iudged. ² Eor with what iudgement ye iudge, ye shall be iudged, and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you againe. ³ And why seest thou the mote, that is in thy brothers eye, and perceiuest not the beame that is in thine owne eye? ⁴ Or howe sayest thou to thy brother, Suffer me to cast out the mote out of thine eye, and beholde, a beame is in thine owne eye? ⁵ Hypocrite, first cast out that beame out of thine owne eye, and then shalt thou see clearely to cast out the mote out of thy brothers eye.

⁵ These twelue did Iesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Goe not into the way of of the Gentiles, and into the cities of the Samaritans enter yee not:

¹⁶ Behold, I send you as sheepe in the middes of the wolues: be yee therefore wise as serpents, and innocent as doues.

²⁵ It is ynough for the disciple to bee as his master is, and the seruaunt as his Lord. If they haue called the master of the house Beel-zebub, howe much more them of his housholde?

²⁵ At that time Iesus answered, and saide, I giue thee thankes, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and men of vnderstanding, and hast opened them vnto babes.

²⁷ All things are giuen vnto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Sonne, but ye Father: neither knoweth any man ye Father, but the Sonne, and he to whom ye Sonne will reueile him.

²⁹ Take my yoke on you, and learne of me that I am meeke and lowly in heart: and ye shall finde rest vnto your soules.

⁶ But I say vnto you, that here is one greater then the Temple.

²⁴ But when the Pharises heard it, they saide, This man casteth the deuils no otherwise out, but through Beelzebub the prince of deuils.

³¹ Wherefore I say vnto you, euery sinne and blasphemie shalbe forgiuen vnto men: but the blasphemie against the holy Ghost shall not be forgiuen vnto men.

⁴¹ The men of Nineue shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and condemne it: for they repented at the preaching of Ionas: and behold, a greater then Ionas is here. ⁴² The Queene of the South shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and shall condemne it: for she came from the vtmost partes of the earth to heare the wisdome of Salomon: and beholde, a greater then Salomon is here.

¹¹ And he answered, and said vnto them, Because it is giuen vnto you, to know the secretes of the kingdome of heauen, but to the it is not giue. ¹² For whosoeuer hath, to him shalbe giuen, and he shall haue abundance: but whosoeuer hath not, from him shalbe taken away, euen that he hath.

¹⁵ For this peoples heart is waxed fat, and their eares are dull of hearing, and with their eyes they haue winked, lest they should see with their eyes, and heare with their eares, and should vnderstand with their hearts, and should returne, that I might heale them.

¹⁷ For verely I say vnto you, that many Prophets, and righteous men haue desired to see those things which ye see, and haue not seene them, and to heare those things which ye heare, and haue not heard them.

¹⁹ Whensoeuer any man heareth the woorde of that kingdome, and vnderstandeth it not, that euil one commeth, and catcheth away that which was sowen in his heart: and this is he which hath receiued the seede by the way side. ²⁰ And hee that receiued seede in the stonie grounde, is he which heareth the woorde, and incontinently with ioy receiueth it, ²¹ Yet hath he no roote in himselfe, and dureth but a season: for assoone as tribulation or persecution commeth because of the woorde, by and by he is offended. ²² And hee that receiued the seede among thornes, is hee that heareth the woorde: but the care of this worlde, and the deceitfulnesse of riches choke the word, and he is made vnfruitfull.

³⁸ And the field is the worlde, and the good seede are the children of the kingdome, and the tares are the children of that wicked one.

⁷ O hypocrites, Esaias prophecied well of you, saying,

²³ But hee answered her not a worde. Then came to him his disciples, and besought him, saying, Sende her away, for she crieth after vs.

⁵ While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloude shadowed them: and beholde, there came a voyce out of the cloude, saying, This is that my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased: heare him.

³ Then came vnto him the Pharises tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawfull for a man to put away his wife vpon euery occasion?

Let not man therefore put asunder that, which God hath coupled together. ⁷ They said to him, Why did then Moses commaund to giue a bill of diuorcement, and to put her away? ⁸ He sayd vnto them, Moses, because of the hardnesse of your heart, suffered you to put away your wiues: but from the beginning it was not so.

This was the Lordes doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes. ⁴³ Therefore say I vnto you, The kingdome of God shalbe taken from you, and shalbe giuen to a nation, which shall bring foorth the fruites thereof.

³⁹ For I say vnto you, ye shall not see mee henceforth till that ye say, Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord.

²³ Then if any shall say vnto you, Loe, here is Christ, or there, beleeue it not. ²⁴ For there shall arise false Christes, and false prophets, and shall shewe great signes and wonders, so that if it were possible, they should deceiue the very elect.

⁴¹ Then shall he say vnto them on ye left hand, Depart from me ye cursed, into euerlasting fire, which is prepared for the deuill and his angels.

⁴⁶ And these shall goe into euerlasting paine, and the righteous into life eternall.

⁵⁵ The same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude, Ye be come out as it were against a thiefe, with swordes and staues to take mee: I sate daily teaching in the Temple among you, and yee tooke me not.

⁶³ But Iesus helde his peace. Then the chiefe Priest answered, and saide to him, I charge thee sweare vnto vs by the liuing God, to tell vs, If thou be that Christ the Sonne of God, or no.

⁶ And the chiefe Priestes tooke the siluer pieces, and sayde, It is not lawfull for vs to put them into the treasure, because it is the price of bloud.

⁵⁰ Then Iesus cryed againe with a loude voyce, and yeelded vp the ghost. ⁵¹ And behold, the vayle of the Temple was rent in twaine, from the top to the bottome, and the earth did quake, and the stones were cloue. ⁵² And the graues did open themselues, and many bodies of the Saintes, which slept, arose, ⁵³ And came out of the graues after his resurrection, and went into the holy citie, and appeared vnto many. ⁵⁴ When the Centurion, and they that were with him watching Iesus, saw the earthquake, and the thinges that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truely this was the Sonne of God.

¹⁴ Then King Herod heard of him (for his name was made manifest) and sayd, Iohn Baptist is risen againe from the dead, and therefore great workes are wrought by him. ¹⁵ Other sayd, It is Elias, and some sayd, It is a Prophet, or as one of those Prophets. ¹⁶ So when Herod heard it, he said, It is Iohn whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

² Then the Pharises came and asked him, if it were lawfull for a man to put away his wife, and tempted him.

⁴³ Then he called vnto him his disciples, and said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.

³ And as he sate on the mount of Oliues, ouer against the Temple, Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and Andrew asked him secretly,

⁶ For many shall come in my Name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceiue many.

¹⁶ He that shall beleeue and be baptized, shalbe saued: but he that will not beleeue, shalbe damned.

⁷⁸ Through ye tender mercy of our God, wherby the day spring from an hie hath visited vs, ⁷⁹ To giue light to them that sit in darknes, and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feete into the way of peace.

²⁶ And it was declared to him from God by the holy Ghost, that he shoulde not see death, before he had seene that Anointed of the Lord.

²⁸ Then hee tooke him in his armes, and praised God, and sayd, ²⁹ Lord, nowe lettest thou thy seruaunt depart in peace, according to thy woorde, ³⁰ For mine eyes haue seene thy saluation,

³² A light to be reueiled to the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is vpon mee, because he hath anoynted me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poore: he hath sent mee, that I should heale the broken hearted, that I should preach deliuerance to the captiues, and recouering of sight to the blinde, that I should set at libertie them that are bruised:

²⁰ And hee closed the booke, and gaue it againe to the minister, and sate downe: and the eyes of all that were in the Synagogue were fastened on him.

²⁹ And rose vp, and thrust him out of the citie, and led him vnto the edge of the hil, whereon their citie was built, to cast him downe headlong. ³⁰ But he passed through the middes of them, and went his way,

³ And he entred into one of the ships, which was Simons, and required him that he would thrust off a litle from the land: and he sate downe, and taught the people out of the ship.

³² I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

¹ In the meane time, there gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, so that they trode one another: and he began to say vnto his disciples first, Take heede to your selues of the leauen of the Pharises, which is hypocrisie. ² For there is nothing couered, that shall not bee reueiled: neither hidde, that shall not be knowen. ³ Wherefore whatsoeuer yee haue spoken in darkenesse, it shall be heard in the light: and that which ye haue spoken in the eare, in secret places, shall be preached on the houses.

⁷ I say vnto you, that likewise ioy shall be in heauen for one sinner that conuerteth, more then for ninetie and nine iust men, which neede none amendment of life.

The rich man also died, and was buried. ²³ And being in hell in torments, he lift vp his eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre off, and Lazarus in his bosome. ²⁴ Then he cried, and saide, Father Abraham, haue mercie on mee, and sende Lazarus that hee may dippe the tip of his finger in water, and coole my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham saide, Sonne, remember that thou in thy life time receiuedst thy pleasures, and likewise Lazarus paines: now therefore is he comforted, and thou art tormented. ²⁶ Besides all this, betweene you and vs there is a great gulfe set, so that they which would goe from hence to you, can not: neither can they come from thence to vs.

³⁷ And when he was nowe come neere to the going downe of the mount of Oliues, the whole multitude of the disciples began to reioyce, and to prayse God with a loude voyce, for all the great workes that they had seene,

¹² But as many as receiued him, to them he gaue prerogatiue to be the sonnes of God, euen to them that beleeue in his Name. ¹³ Which are borne not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of ye wil of man, but of God. ¹⁴ And that Word was made flesh, and dwelt among vs, (and we sawe the glorie thereof, as the glorie of the onely begotten Sonne of the Father) full of grace and trueth.

The wordes that I speake vnto you, I speake not of my selfe: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the workes. ¹¹ Beleeue me, that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me: at the least, beleeue me for the very workes sake.

¹⁵ Henceforth call I you not seruants: for the seruant knoweth not what his master doeth: but I haue called you friends: for all things that I haue heard of my Father, haue I made knowen to you.

⁸ And when he is come, he will reproue the worlde of sinne, and of righteousnesse, and of iudgement.

⁴³ Nowe when the congregation was dissolued, many of the Iewes and Proselytes that feared God, followed Paul and Barnabas, which spake to them, and exhorted them to continue in the grace of God.

²² Neuertheles, I obteined helpe of God, and continue vnto this day, witnessing both to small and to great, saying none other things, then those which the Prophets and Moses did say should come, ²³ To wit, that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light vnto this people, and to the Gentiles.

⁴ And declared mightily to be the Sonne of God, touching the Spirit of sanctification by the resurrection from the dead)

²⁵ I thanke God through Iesus Christ our Lord. Then I my selfe in my minde serue the Lawe of God, but in my flesh the lawe of sinne.

⁶ Who being in ye forme of God, thought it no robberie to be equall with God: ⁷ But he made himself of no reputation, and tooke on him ye forme of a seruant, and was made like vnto men, and was founde in shape as a man. ⁸ He humbled himselfe, and became obedient vnto the death, euen the death of the Crosse. ⁹ Wherefore God hath also highly exalted him, and giuen him a Name aboue euery name, ¹⁰ That at the Name of Iesus shoulde euery knee bowe, both of things in heauen, and things in earth, and things vnder the earth, ¹¹ And that euery tongue shoulde confesse that Iesus Christ is the Lord, vnto the glory of God the Father.

³ Honour widowes, which are widowes in deede. ⁴ But if any widowe haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shewe godlinesse towarde their owne house, and to recompense their kinred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God. ⁵ And shee that is a widowe in deede and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and praiers night and day.

³ For wee our selues also were in times past vnwise, disobedient, deceiued, seruing the lustes and diuers pleasures, liuing in maliciousnes and enuie, hatefull, and hating one another:

¹⁵ For we haue not an hie Priest, which can not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all things tempted in like sort, yet without sinne.

⁸ And though he were ye Sonne, yet learned he obedience, by the things which he suffered. ⁹ And being consecrate, was made the authour of eternall saluation vnto all them that obey him:

²⁶ For such an hie Priest it became vs to haue, which is holy, harmelesse, vndefiled, separate from sinners, and made hier then the heauens:

²⁶ For if we sinne willingly after that we haue receiued and acknowledged that trueth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sinnes, ²⁷ But a fearefull looking for of iudgement, and violent fire, which shall deuoure the aduersaries. ²⁸ He that despiseth Moses Law, dieth without mercy vnder two, or three witnesses:

²⁵ But who so looketh in the perfect Lawe of libertie, and continueth therein, hee not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the woorke, shalbe blessed in his deede.

Heereby knowe wee the spirit of trueth, and the spirit of errour.

⁶ And he opened his mouth vnto blasphemie against God, to blaspheme his Name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heauen. ⁷ And it was giuen vnto him to make warre with the Saints, and to ouercome them, and power was giuen him ouer euery kinred, and tongue, and nation. ⁸ Therefore all that dwell vpon the earth, shall worship him, whose names are not written in the booke of life of that Lambe, which was slaine from the beginning of the world.

¹⁴ And deceiued them that dwell on the earth by the signes, which were permitted to him to doe in the sight of the beast, saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make the image of the beast, which had the wound of a sword, and did liue.

¹¹ And I sawe heauen open, and behold, a white horse, and he that sate vpon him, was called, Faithfull and true, and he iudgeth and fighteth righteously.

¹⁵ And out of his mouth went out a sharpe sworde, that with it he should smite the heathen: for he shall rule them with a rod of yron: for he it is that treadeth the wine presse of the fiercenesse and wrath of almightie God.

² And he tooke the dragon that olde serpent, which is the deuill and Satan, and he bounde him a thousand yeeres: ³ And cast him into the bottomles pit, and he shut him vp, and sealed the doore vpon him, that he should deceiue the people no more, till the thousand yeeres were fulfilled: for after that he must be loosed for a litle season.

⁷ And when the thousand yeres are expired, Satan shalbe loosed out of his prison, ⁸ And shall go out to deceiue the people, which are in the foure quarters of the earth: euen Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battell, whose number is, as the sand of the sea. ⁹ And they went vp into the plaine of the earth, and they compassed the tents of the Saints about, and the beloued citie: but fire came downe from God out of heauen, and deuoured them. ¹⁰ And the deuill that deceiued them, was cast into a lake of fire and brimstone, where that beast and that false prophet are, and shall be tormented euen day and night for euermore.

⁸ But the fearful and vnbeleeuing, and the abominable and murtherers, and whoremogers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall haue their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

²⁴ And the people which are saued, shall walke in the light of it: and the Kings of the earth shall bring their glorie and honour vnto it.

¹ And hee shewed me a pure riuer of water of life, cleare as crystall, proceeding out of the throne of God, and of the Lambe.

¹⁵ For without shall be dogs and inchanters, and whoremongers, and murtherers, and idolaters, and whosoeuer loueth or maketh lies.
