¹⁴ For it is euident, that our Lord sprung out of Iuda, concerning the which tribe Moses spake nothing, touching the Priesthood.

¹² Also the sonnes of Iudah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: (but Er and Onan died in ye land of Canaan) And the sonnes of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Iudah, nor a Lawegiuer from betweene his feete, vntill Shiloh come, and the people shall be gathered vnto him.

¹⁷ I shall see him, but not nowe: I shall behold him, but not neere: there shall come a starre of Iaakob, and a scepter shall rise of Israel, and shall smite the coastes of Moab, and destroy all the sonnes of Sheth.

¹⁸ These now are ye generations of Pharez: Pharez begate Hezron, ¹⁹ And Hezron begate Ram, and Ram begate Amminadab, ²⁰ And Amminadab begate Nahshon, and Nahshon begate Salmah, ²¹ And Salmon begate Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, ²² And Obed begate Ishai, and Ishai begate Dauid.

¹ But there shall come a rodde foorth of the stocke of Ishai, and a grasse shall growe out of his rootes.

⁵ Behold, The dayes come, saith the Lord, that I will raise vnto Dauid a righteous branche, and a King shall reigne, and prosper, and shall execute iudgement, and iustice in the earth. ⁶ In his dayes Iudah shalbe saued, and Israel shall dwell safely, and this is the Name wherby they shall call him, The Lord our righteousnesse.

² And thou Beth-leem Ephrathah art litle to bee among the thousandes of Iudah, yet out of thee shall he come forth vnto me, that shalbe the ruler in Israel: whose goings forth haue bene from the beginning and from euerlasting.

³ And Iudas begate Phares, and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begate Esrom. And Esrom begate Aram. ⁴ And Aram begate Aminadab. And Aminadab begate Naasson. And Naasson begat Salmon. ⁵ And Salmon begate Booz of Rachab. And Booz begat Obed of Ruth. and Obed begat Iesse. ⁶ And Iesse begate Dauid the King. ⁴³ And whence commeth this to mee, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

²³ (As it is written in the Lawe of the Lord, Euery man childe that first openeth ye wombe, shalbe called holy to the Lord) ²⁴ And to giue an oblation, as it is commanded in the Lawe of the Lord, a paire of turtle doues, or two yong pigeons. ²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Hierusalem, whose name was Simeon: this man was iust, and feared God, and waited for the consolation of Israel, and the holy Ghost was vpon him. ²⁶ And it was declared to him from God by the holy Ghost, that he shoulde not see death, before he had seene that Anointed of the Lord. ²⁷ And he came by the motion of the spirit into the Temple, and when the parents brought in the babe Iesus, to do for him after the custome of the Lawe, ²⁸ Then hee tooke him in his armes, and praised God, and sayd, ²⁹ Lord, nowe lettest thou thy seruaunt depart in peace, according to thy woorde, ³⁰ For mine eyes haue seene thy saluation, ³¹ Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people, ³² A light to be reueiled to the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. ³³ And Ioseph and his mother marueiled at those things, which were spoken touching him.

³³ The sonne of Aminadab, the sonne of Aram, the sonne of Esrom, the sonne of Phares, the sonne of Iuda,

¹³ And they said vnto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She said vnto them, They haue taken away my Lord, and I know not where they haue laide him.

²⁸ Then Thomas answered, and said vnto him, Thou art my Lord, and my God.

³ Concerning his Sonne Iesus Christ our Lord (which was made of the seede of Dauid according to the flesh,

³ And thinkest thou this, O thou man, that condemnest them which doe such thinges, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the iudgement of God?

³ Blessed be God, and the Father of our Lord Iesus Christ, which hath blessed vs with all spirituall blessing in heauenly thinges in Christ,

⁸ Yea, doubtlesse I thinke all thinges but losse for the excellent knowledge sake of Christ Iesus my Lord, for whome I haue counted all things losse, and doe iudge them to bee dongue, that I might winne Christ,

⁵ And one of the Elders saide vnto me, Weepe not: beholde, that Lion which is of the tribe of Iuda, that roote of Dauid, hath obteined to open the Booke, and to loose the seuen seales thereof.

¹⁶ I Iesus haue sent mine Angell, to testifie vnto you these things in the Churches: I am the root and the generation of Dauid, and the bright morning starre.
