¹ I will stand vpon my watch, and set me vpon the towre, and wil looke and see what he would say vnto mee, and what I shall answere to him that rebuketh me.

²⁴ Now Dauid sate betweene the two gates. And the watchman went to the top of the gate vpon the wall, and lift vp his eyes, and sawe, and beholde, a man came running alone.

¹⁷ And the watchman that stoode in the towre in Izreel spyed the companie of Iehu as hee came, and sayd, I see a companie. And Iehoram said, Take a horseman and send to meete them, that hee may say, Is it peace?

⁹ And the children of Israel had done secretly things that were not vpright before the Lord their God, and throughout all their cities had built hie places, both from the tower of the watch, to the defensed citie,

⁵ I would knowe the wordes, that he would answere me, and would vnderstand what he would say vnto me. ⁶ Would he plead against me with his great power? No, but he would put strength in me. ⁷ There the righteous might reason with him, so I shoulde be deliuered for euer from my Iudge.

³⁵ Oh that I had some to heare me! beholde my signe that the Almightie will witnesse for me: though mine aduersary should write a booke against me,

³⁷ I will tell him the nomber of my goings, and goe vnto him as to a prince.

³ Heare my voyce in the morning, O Lord: for in the morning will I direct me vnto thee, and I will waite.

¹⁶ Then thought I to know this, but it was too painefull for me, ¹⁷ Vntill I went into the Sanctuarie of God: then vnderstoode I their ende.

⁸ I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speake peace vnto his people, and to his Saintes, that they turne not againe to follie.

⁵ Prepare thou the table: watch in the watch towre: eate, drinke: arise, ye princes, anoynt the shielde.

⁸ And he cryed, A lyon: my lorde, I stand continually vpon ye watche towre in the day time, and I am set in my watche euery night:

⁶ I haue set watchmen vpon thy walles, O Ierusalem, which all the day and all the night continually shall not cease: ye that are mindfull of the Lord, keepe not silence,

¹ O Lord, if I dispute with thee, thou art righteous: yet let mee talke with thee of thy iudgements: wherefore doeth the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they in wealth that rebelliously transgresse?

¹² Art thou not of olde, O Lord my God, mine holy one? we shall not die: O Lord, thou hast ordeined them for iudgement, and O God, thou hast established them for correction. ¹³ Thou art of pure eyes, and canst not see euill: thou canst not behold wickednesse: wherefore doest thou looke vpon the transgressors, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked deuoureth the man, that is more righteous then he? ¹⁴ And makest men as the fishes of the sea, and as the creeping things, that haue no ruler ouer them. ¹⁵ They take vp all with the angle: they catch it in their net, and gather it in their yarne, whereof they reioyce and are glad. ¹⁶ Therefore they sacrifice vnto their net, and burne incense vnto their yarne, because by them their portion is fat and their meat plenteous. ¹⁷ Shall they therefore stretch out their net and not spare continually to slay the nations?

³ Seeing that ye seeke experience of Christ, that speaketh in mee, which towarde you is not weake, but is mightie in you.
