Habakkuk 3 Cross References - Geneva

1 A prayer of Habakkuk the Prophet for the ignorances. 2 O Lord, I haue heard thy voyce, and was afraide: O Lord, reuiue thy worke in the mids of the people, in the mids of the yeeres make it knowen: in wrath remember mercy. 3 God commeth from Teman, and the holy one from mount Paran, Selah. His glory couereth the heauens, and the earth is full of his prayse, 4 And his brightnes was as the light: he had hornes comming out of his hands, and there was the hiding of his power. 5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coales went forth before his feete. 6 He stoode and measured the earth: he behelde and dissolued the nations and the euerlasting mountaines were broken, and the ancient hilles did bowe: his wayes are euerlasting. 7 For his iniquitie I sawe the tentes of Cushan, and the curtaines of the land of Midian did tremble. 8 Was the Lord angry against the riuers? or was thine anger against the floods? or was thy wrath against the sea, that thou diddest ride vpon thine horses? thy charets brought saluation. 9 Thy bowe was manifestly reueiled, and the othes of the tribes were a sure worde, Selah. thou diddest cleaue the earth with riuers. 10 The mountaines sawe thee, and they trembled: the streame of the water passed by: the deepe made a noyse, and lift vp his hand on hie. 11 The sunne and moone stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrowes they went, and at the bright shining of thy speares. 12 Thou trodest downe the land in anger, and didest thresh the heathen in displeasure. 13 Thou wentest foorth for the saluation of thy people, euen for saluation with thine Anointed: thou hast wounded the head of the house of the wicked, and discoueredst the foundations vnto the necke, Selah. 14 Thou didest strike thorowe with his owne staues the heades of his villages: they came out as a whirle winde to scatter me: their reioycing was as to deuoure the poore secretly. 15 Thou didest walke in the sea with thine horses vpon the heape of great waters. 16 When I heard, my bellie trembled: my lippes shooke at the voyce: rottennesse entred into my bones, and I trembled in my selfe, that I might rest in the day of trouble: for whe he commeth vp vnto the people, he shall destroy them. 17 For the figtree shall not flourish, neither shall fruite be in the vines: the labour of the oliue shall faile, and the fieldes shall yeelde no meate: the sheepe shalbe cut off from the folde, and there shalbe no bullocke in the stalles. 18 But I will reioyce in the Lord: I will ioy in the God of my saluation. 19 The Lord God is my strength: hee will make my feete like hindes feete, and he will make me to walke vpon mine hie places. Joshua 2:10

10 For we haue heard, howe the Lord dried vp the water of the redde Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt, and what you did vnto the two Kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Iorden, vnto Sihon and to Og, whom ye vtterly destroyed:

Joshua 3:15-16

15 And as they that bare the Arke came vnto Iorden, and the feete of the Priestes that bare the Arke were dipped in the brinke of the water, (for Iorden vseth to fill all his bankes all the time of haruest) 16 Then the waters that came downe from aboue, stayed and rose vpon an heape and departed farre from the citie of Adam, that was beside Zaretan: but the waters that came downe towarde the Sea of the wildernes, euen the salt Sea, failed, and were cut off: so the people went right ouer against Iericho.

Joshua 6:1-12

1 Now Iericho was shut vp, and closed, because of the children of Israel: none might go out nor enter in. 2 And the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, Behold, I haue giuen into thine hand Iericho and the King thereof, and the strong men of warre. 3 All ye therefore that be men of warre, shall compasse the citie, in going round about the citie once: thus shall you doe sixe dayes: 4 And seuen Priests shall beare seuen trumpets of rams hornes before the Arke: and the seuenth day ye shall compasse the citie seuen times, and the Priests shall blow with the trumpets. 5 And when they make a long blast with the rams horne, and ye heare the sound of the trumpet, al the people shall shoute with a great shoute: then shall the wall of the citie fall downe flat, and the people shall ascend vp, euery man streight before him. 6 Then, Ioshua the sonne of Nun called the Priests and said vnto them, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and let seuen Priests beare seuen trumpets of rams hornes before the Arke of the Lord. 7 But he said vnto the people, Goe and compasse the citie: and let him that is armed, go forth before the Arke of the Lord. 8 And when Ioshua had spoken vnto the people, the seuen Priestes bare the seuen trumpets of rams hornes, and went foorth before the Arke of the Lord, and blew with the trumpets, and the Arke of the couenant of ye Lord followed them. 9 And the men of armes went before the Priestes, that blewe the trumpets: then the gathering hoste came after the Arke, as they went and blewe the trumpets. 10 (Nowe Ioshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall nor shout, neither make any noyse with your voyce, neither shall a worde proceede out of your mouth, vntill the day that I say vnto you, Shout, then shall ye shoute) 11 So the Arke of the Lord compassed the citie, and went about it once: then they returned into the hoaste, and lodged in the campe. 12 And Ioshua rose early in the morning, and the Priestes bare the Arke of the Lord:

24 And they answered Ioshua, and sayd, Because it was tolde thy seruants, that the Lord thy God had commanded his seruant Moses to giue you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land out of your sight, therefore we were exceeding sore afraid for our liues at the presence of you, and haue done this thing:

18 Ioshua made warre long time with all those Kings, 19 Neither was there any citie that made peace with the children of Israel, saue those Hiuites that inhabited Gibeon: all other they tooke by battell. 20 For it came of the Lord, to harden their heartes that they shoulde come against Israel in battell to the intent that they shoulde destroye them vtterly, and shewe them no mercie, but that they shoulde bring them to nought: as the Lord had commanded Moses. 21 And that same season came Ioshua, and destroyed the Anakims out of the mountaines: as out of Hebron, out of Debir, out of Anab, and out of all the mountaines of Iudah, and out of all the mountaines of Israel: Ioshua destroyed them vtterly with their cities. 22 There was no Anakim left in the lande of the children of Israel: onely in Azzah, in Gath, and in Ashdod were they left. 23 So Ioshua tooke the whole land, according to all that the Lord had saide vnto Moses: and Ioshua gaue it for an inheritance vnto Israel according to their portion through their tribes: then the land was at rest without warre.

And the Angel of the Lord was by the threshing place of Araunah the Iebusite. 17 And Dauid spake vnto the Lord (when he sawe the Angel that smote the people) and saide, Behold, I haue sinned, yea, I haue done wickedly: but these sheepe, what haue they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against mee and against my fathers house.

God is our hope and strength, and helpe in troubles, ready to be found. 2 Therefore will not we feare, though the earth be moued, and though the mountaines fall into the middes of the sea. 3 Though the waters thereof rage and be troubled, and the mountaines shake at the surges of the same. Selah, 4 Yet there is a Riuer, whose streames shall make glad the citie of God: euen the Sanctuarie of the Tabernacles of the most High. 5 God is in the middes of it: therefore shall it not be moued: God shall helpe it very earely.

1 To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme of David, to give instruction. When the Ziphims came and said unto Saul, Is not David hid among us? Save mee, O God, by thy Name, and by thy power iudge me. 2 O God, heare my prayer: hearken vnto the wordes of my mouth. 3 For strangers are risen vp against me, and tyrants seeke my soule: they haue not set God before them. Selah. 4 Beholde, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that vpholde my soule. 5 He shall rewarde euill vnto mine enemies: Oh cut them off in thy trueth! 6 Then I will sacrifice freely vnto thee: I wil praise thy Name, O Lord, because it is good. 7 For he hath deliuered me out of al trouble, and mine eye hath seene my desire vpon mine enemies.

Psalms 55:1-23

1 To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme of David to give instruction. Heare my prayer, O God, and hide not thy selfe from my supplication. 2 Hearken vnto me, and answere me: I mourne in my prayer, and make a noyse, 3 For the voyce of the enemie, and for the vexation of ye wicked, because they haue brought iniquitie vpon me, and furiously hate me. 4 Mine heart trembleth within mee, and the terrours of death are fallen vpon me. 5 Feare and trembling are come vpon mee, and an horrible feare hath couered me. 6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a doue: then would I flie away and rest. 7 Beholde, I woulde take my flight farre off, and lodge in the wildernes. Selah. 8 Hee would make haste for my deliuerance from the stormie winde and tempest. 9 Destroy, O Lord, and deuide their tongues: for I haue seene crueltie and strife in the citie. 10 Day and night they goe about it vpon the walles thereof: both iniquitie and mischiefe are in the middes of it. 11 Wickednes is in the middes thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streetes. 12 Surely mine enemie did not defame mee: for I could haue borne it: neither did mine aduersarie exalt himselfe against mee: for I would haue hid me from him. 13 But it was thou, O man, euen my companion, my guide and my familiar: 14 Which delited in consulting together, and went into the House of God as companions. 15 Let death sense vpon them: let them goe downe quicke into the graue: for wickednes is in their dwellings, euen in the middes of them. 16 But I will call vnto God, and the Lord will saue me. 17 Euening and morning, and at noone will I pray, and make a noyse, and he wil heare my voice. 18 He hath deliuered my soule in peace from the battel, that was against me: for many were with me. 19 God shall heare and afflict them, euen hee that reigneth of olde, Selah. because they haue no changes, therefore they feare not God. 20 Hee layed his hande vpon such, as be at peace with him, and he brake his couenant. 21 The wordes of his mouth were softer then butter, yet warre was in his heart: his words were more gentle then oyle, yet they were swordes. 22 Cast thy burden vpon the Lord, and hee shall nourish thee: he wil not suffer the righteous to fall for euer. 23 And thou, O God, shalt bring them downe into the pitte of corruption: the bloudie, and deceitfull men shall not liue halfe their dayes: but I will trust in thee.

Psalms 64:2-7

2 Hide me from the conspiracie of the wicked, and from the rage of the workers of iniquitie. 3 Which haue whette their tongue like a sword, and shot for their arrowes bitter wordes. 4 To shoote at the vpright in secrete: they shoote at him suddenly, and feare not. 5 They encourage themselues in a wicked purpose: they commune together to lay snares priuilie, and say, Who shall see them? 6 They haue sought out iniquities, and haue accomplished that which they sought out, euen euery one his secret thoughtes, and the depth of his heart. 7 But God will shoote an arrowe at them suddenly: their strokes shalbe at once.

Selah. 5 Let the people prayse thee, O God: let all the people prayse thee. 6 Then shall the earth bring foorth her increase, and God, euen our God shall blesse vs. 7 God shall blesse vs, and all the endes of the earth shall feare him.

Selah. 4 Thou art more bright and puissant, then the mountaines of pray. 5 The stout hearted are spoyled: they haue slept their sleepe, and all the men of strength haue not found their hands. 6 At thy rebuke, O God of Iaakob, both the chariot and horse are cast a sleepe. 7 Thou, euen thou art to be feared: and who shall stand in thy sight, when thou art angrie! 8 Thou didest cause thy iudgement to bee heard from heauen: therefore the earth feared and was still, 9 When thou, O God, arose to iudgement, to helpe all the meeke of the earth. Selah. 10 Surely the rage of man shall turne to thy praise: the remnant of the rage shalt thou restrayne. 11 Vowe and performe vnto the Lord your God, all ye that be rounde about him: let them bring presents vnto him that ought to be feared. 12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the Kings of the earth.
