¹ Bvt King Salomon loued many outlandish women: both the daughter of Pharaoh, and the women of Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zidon and Heth,

² Then the sonnes of God sawe the daughters of men that they were faire, and they tooke them wiues of all that they liked. ³ Therefore the Lord saide, My Spirit shall not alway striue with man, because he is but flesh, and his dayes shalbe an hundreth and twentie yeeres. ⁴ There were gyants in the earth in those dayes: yea, and after that the sonnes of God came vnto the daughters of men, and they had borne them children, these were mightie men, which in olde time were men of renoume. ⁵ When the Lord sawe that the wickednesse of man was great in the earth, and all the imaginations of the thoughtes of his heart were onely euill continually,

¹⁸ Also thou shalt not take a wife with her sister, during her life, to vexe her, in vncouering her shame vpon her.

¹⁷ Neither shall hee take him many wiues, lest his heart turne away, neither shall he gather him much siluer and golde.

¹ Salomon then made affinitie with Pharaoh King of Egypt, and tooke Pharaohs daughter, and brought her into the citie of Dauid, vntill hee had made an ende of buylding his owne house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Ierusalem round about.

⁸ And so did he for all his outlandish wiues, which burnt incense and offered vnto their gods.

²³ In those dayes also I saw Iewes that married wiues of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab. ²⁴ And their children spake halfe in ye speach of Ashdod, and could not speake in the Iewes language, and according to the language of the one people, and of the other people. ²⁵ Then I reprooued them, and cursed them, and smote certaine of them, and pulled off their heare, and tooke an othe of them by God, Yee shall not giue your daughters vnto their sonnes, neither shall ye take of their daughters vnto your sonnes, nor for your selues. ²⁶ Did not Salomon the king of Israel sinne by these thinges? yet among many nations was there no King like him: for he was beloued of his God, and God had made him King ouer Israel: yet strange women caused him to sinne. ²⁷ Shall wee then obey vnto you, to doe all this great euil, and to transgresse against our God, euen to marry strange wiues?

¹⁶ And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.

⁸ Keepe thy way farre from her, and come not neere the doore of her house, ⁹ Least thou giue thine honor vnto others, and thy yeeres to the cruell: ¹⁰ Least the stranger should be silled with thy strength, and thy labours bee in the house of a stranger, ¹¹ And thou mourne at thine end, (when thou hast consumed thy flesh and thy bodie) ¹² And say, How haue I hated instruction, and mine heart despised correction! ¹³ And haue not obeied the voyce of them that taught mee, nor enclined mine eare to them that instructed me! ¹⁴ I was almost brought into all euil in ye mids of the Congregation and assemblie. ¹⁵ Drinke the water of thy cisterne, and of the riuers out of the middes of thine owne well. ¹⁶ Let thy fountaines flow foorth, and the riuers of waters in the streetes. ¹⁷ But let them bee thine, euen thine onely, and not the strangers with thee. ¹⁸ Let thy fountaine be blessed, and reioyce with the wife of thy youth. ¹⁹ Let her be as the louing hinde and pleasant roe: let her brests satisfie thee at all times, and delite in her loue continually. ²⁰ For why shouldest thou delite, my sonne, in a strange woman, or embrace the bosome of a stranger?

²⁴ To keepe thee from the wicked woman, and from ye flatterie of ye tongue of a strange woman.

⁵ That they may keepe thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger that is smoothe in her wordes.

¹⁴ The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.

³³ Thine eyes shall looke vpon strange women, and thine heart shall speake lewde things.
