¹ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing?

⁴² Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the mire of the streets.

¹¹ For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a device, which they are not able to perform.

⁶ The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

⁴ They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. ⁵ For they have consulted together with one consent; against thee do they make a covenant: ⁶ The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagarenes; ⁷ Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre: ⁸ Assyria also is joined with them; they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah

⁹ Make an uproar; O ye peoples, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

³⁸ But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.

³² For he shall be delivered up unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shamefully entreated, and spit upon:

¹ Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. ² And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death; for they feared the people.

⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

²² For the Son of man indeed goeth, as it hath been determined: but woe unto that man through whom he is betrayed! ²³ And they began to question among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ nor do ye take account that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

²⁵ who by the Holy Ghost, [by] the mouth of our father David thy servant, didst say, Why did the Gentiles rage, And the peoples imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth set themselves in array, And the rulers were gathered together, Against the Lord, and against his Anointed:

³³ But they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and were minded to slay them.

²² And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods.

⁵ But the Jews, being moved with jealousy, took unto them certain vile fellows of the rabble, and gathering a crowd, set the city on an uproar; and assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them forth to the people. ⁶ And when they found them not, they dragged Jason and certain brethren before the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

²⁸ And when they heard this, they were filled with wrath, and cried out, saying, Great [is] Diana of the Ephesians. ²⁹ And the city was filled with the confusion: and they rushed with one accord into the theatre, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel. ³⁰ And when Paul was minded to enter in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not. ³¹ And certain also of the chief officers of Asia, being his friends, sent unto him, and besought him not to adventure himself into the theatre. ³² Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was in confusion; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.

¹⁴ These shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they [also shall overcome] that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.
