¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ When the LORD shall turn again the captivity of Zion, we shall be like those that dream.

¹ ¶ Now in the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing, saying, ² Thus saith Cyrus, king of Persia, The LORD God of the heavens has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. ³ Who is there among you of all his people? Let God be with him and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem. ⁴ And whoever may remain of all the places where they remained a stranger, let the men of his place help him with silver and with gold and with goods and with beasts, with freewill gifts for the house of God that is in Jerusalem. ⁵ ¶ Then rose up the heads of the families of Judah and of Benjamin and the priests and the Levites, of all those whose spirit God woke up to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem. ⁶ And all those that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver and of gold, with goods and with beasts and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered. ⁷ Also Cyrus, the king, brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem and had put them in the house of his god. ⁸ Even those did Cyrus, king of Persia, bring forth by the hand of Mithredath, the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah. ⁹ And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, twenty-nine knives, ¹⁰ thirty basins of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and another thousand vessels. ¹¹ All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar cause to be brought up with those that came up from the captivity of Babylon unto Jerusalem.

¹⁶ Who if I were to invoke him, and he answered me; yet I would not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.

¹⁰ ¶ And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends; also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

⁶ Oh that the saving health of Israel were come out of Zion! When God brings back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

A Psalm for the sons of Korah. ¶ LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land; thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ Those that trust in the LORD are as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed but abides for ever.

⁸ Behold, I turn them from the land of the north wind and gather them from the coasts of the earth; there shall be blind and lame among them, and women with child and those that travail with child together; a great company shall return there. ⁹ They shall come with weeping, but with mercies I will cause them to return; I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, in which they shall not stumble; for I shall be a father to Israel, and Ephraim shall be my firstborn. ¹⁰ ¶ Hear the word of the LORD, O ye Gentiles, and cause it to be known in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.

¹¹ Also, Judah placed a plant in thee when I had turned the captivity of my people.

¹ ¶ For, behold, in those days and in that time when I shall cause the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem to end,

¹¹ And they, when they had heard that he was alive and had been seen of her, did not believe.

¹¹ And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they did not believe them.

⁴¹ And as they were not believing him yet for joy and wondering, he said unto them, Have ye here any food?

⁹ And he went out and followed him and knew not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision.

¹⁴ And when she recognized Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood at the gate. ¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then they said, It is his angel. ¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.
