¹⁷ Likewise he that kills any man shall surely be put to death.

⁵ For surely your blood which is your souls I will require; at the hand of every animal I will require it and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother I will require the soul (or life) of man. ⁶ Whoever sheds man’s blood in man, his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God is man made.

¹² ¶ He that smites a man so that he dies shall be surely put to death. ¹³ And if a man did not lie in wait but God delivered him into his hand, then I will appoint thee a place where he shall flee. ¹⁴ But if a man comes presumptuously upon his neighbour to slay him with prudence, thou shalt take him from my altar that he may die.

³⁰ Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses, but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. ³¹ Moreover ye shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall be surely put to death.

¹¹ But when any man hates his neighbour and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and smites him mortally that he dies and flees into one of these cities, ¹² then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger {Heb. redeemer} of blood, and he shall die.

²⁴ Cursed is he that smites his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.
