⁴ But when the goodness and kindness of God our Saviour appeared:

⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and patience and longsuffering? Knowest thou not that the benignity of God leadeth thee to penance?

²⁰ Now the law entered in that sin might abound. And where sin abounded, grace did more abound. ²¹ That as sin hath reigned to death: so also grace might reign by justice unto life everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁴ But God (who is rich in mercy) for his exceeding charity wherewith he loved us ⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ (by whose grace you are saved) ⁶ And hath raised us up together and hath made us sit together in the heavenly places, through Christ Jesus. ⁷ That he might shew in the ages to come the abundant riches of his grace, in his bounty towards us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God. ⁹ Not of works, that no man may glory. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them.

³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,

¹⁰ For therefore we labour and are reviled, because we hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of the faithful.

¹⁰ But is now made manifest by the illumination of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath destroyed death and hath brought to light life and incorruption by the gospel.

³ But hath in due times manifested his word in preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Saviour:

¹⁰ Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. ¹¹ For the grace of God our Saviour hath appeared to all men:

²⁶ For then he ought to have suffered often from the beginning of the world. But now once, at the end of ages, he hath appeared for the destruction of sin by the sacrifice of himself.
