¹ Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat the fruit of his apple trees. I am come into my garden, O my sister, my spouse, I have gathered my myrrh, with my aromatical spices: I have eaten the honeycomb with my honey, I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends, and drink, and be inebriated, my dearly beloved.

¹³ Thou shalt celebrate the solemnity also of tabernacles seven days, when thou hast gathered in thy fruit of the barnfloor and of the winepress. ¹⁴ And thou shalt make merry in thy festival time, thou, thy son, and thy daughter, thy manservant, and thy maidservant, the Levite also and the stranger, and the fatherless and the widow that are within thy gates. ¹⁵ Seven days shalt thou celebrate feasts to the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord shall choose: and the Lord thy God will belss thee in all thy fruits, and in every work of thy hands, and thou shalt be in joy. ¹⁶ Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose: in the feast of unleavened bread, in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles. No one shall appear with his hands empty before the Lord: ¹⁷ But every one shall offer according to what he hath, according to the blessing of the Lord his God, which he shall give him.

¹⁰ And therefore now I offer the firstfruits of the land which the Lord hath given me. And thou shalt leave them in the sight of the Lord thy God, adoring the Lord thy God. ¹¹ And thou shalt feast in all the good things which the Lord thy God hath given thee, and thy house, thou and the Levite, and the stranger that is with thee. ¹² When thou hast made an end of tithing all thy fruits, in the third year of tithes thou shalt give it to the Levite, and to the stanger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled: ¹³ And thou shalt speak thus in the sight of the Lord thy God: I have taken that which was sanctified out of my house, and I have given it to the Levite, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, as thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments nor forgotten thy precepts. ¹⁴ I have not eaten of them in my mourning, nor separated them for any uncleanness, nor spent any thing of them in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and have done all things as thou hast commanded me.

⁶ Moreover the children of Israel and Juda, that dwelt in the cities of Juda, brought in the tithes of oxen, and sheep, and the tithes of holy things, which they had vowed to the Lord their God: and carrying them all, made many heaps. ⁷ In the third month they began to lay the foundations of the heaps, and in the seventh month, they finished them. ⁸ And when Ezechias and his princes came in, they saw the heaps, and they blessed the Lord and the people of Israel. ⁹ And Ezechias asked the priests and the Levites, why the heaps lay so. ¹⁰ Azarias the chief priest of the race of Sadoc answered him, saying: Since the firstfruits began to be offered in the house of the Lord, we have eaten, and have been filled, and abundance is left, because the Lord hath blessed his people: and of that which is left is this great store which thou seest.

³ To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.

¹¹ The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him: and in them that hope in his mercy.

⁵ Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine which I have mingled for you.

⁹ Thou hast wounded my heart, my sister, my spouse, thou hast wounded my heart with one of thy eyes, and with one hair of thy neck. ¹⁰ How beautiful are thy breasts, my sister, my spouse! thy breasts are more beautiful than wine, and the sweet smell of thy ointments above all aromatical spices. ¹¹ Thy lips, my spouse, are as a dropping honeycomb, honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments, as the smell of frankincense. ¹² My sister, my spouse, is a garden enclosed, a garden enclosed, a fountain sealed up. ¹³ Thy plants are a paradise of pomegranates with the fruits of the orchard. Cypress with spikenard. ¹⁴ Spikenard and saffron, sweet cane and cinnamon, with all the trees of Libanus, myrrh and aloes with all the chief perfumes.

¹⁶ Arise, O north wind, and come, O south wind, blow through my garden, and let the aromatical spices thereof flow.

^{2 (6:1)} My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the bed of aromatical spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

^{11 (6:10)} I went down into the garden of nuts, to see the fruits of the valleys, and to look if the vineyard had flourished, and the pomegranates budded.

¹ Who shall give thee to me for my brother, sucking the breasts of my mother, that I may find thee without, and kiss thee, and now no man may despise me?

¹³ Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the friends hearken: make me hear thy voice.

¹ I will sing to my beloved the canticle of my cousin concerning his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a hill in a fruitful place.

¹⁸ And her merchandise and her hire shall be sanctified to the Lord: they shall not be kept in store, nor laid up: for her merchandise shall be for them that shall dwell before the Lord, that they may eat unto fulness, and be clothed for a continuance.

³ The Lord therefore will comfort Sion, and will comfort all the ruins thereof: and he will make her desert as a place of pleasure, and her wilderness as the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of praise.

¹¹ Because his soul hath laboured, he shall see and be filled: by his knowledge shall this my just servant justify many, and he shall bear their iniquities.

¹ All you that thirst, come to the waters: and you that have no money make haste, buy, and eat: come ye, buy wine and milk without money, and without any price. ² Why do you spend money for that which is not bread, and your labour for that which doth not satisfy you? Hearken diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and your soul shall be delighted in fatness.

¹¹ And the Lord will give thee rest continually, and will fill thy soul with brightness, and deliver thy bones, and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a fountain of water whose waters shall not fail.

¹¹ For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth her seed to shoot forth: so shall the Lord God make justice to spring forth, and praise before all the nations.

⁸ The Lord hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength: Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thy enemies: and the sons of the strangers shall not drink thy wine, for which thou hast laboured. ⁹ For they that gather it, shall eat it, and shall praise the Lord: and they that bring it together, shall drink it in my holy courts.

¹³ Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold my servants shall eat, and you shall be hungry: behold my servants shall drink, and you shall be thirsty.

¹⁴ You shall see and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb, and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants, and he shall be angry with his enemies.

¹⁵ The Lord of hosts will protect them: and they shall devonr, and subdue with the stones of the sling: and drinking they shall be inebriated as it were with wine, and they shall be filled as bowls, and as the horns of the altar. ¹⁶ And the Lord their God will save them in that day, as the flock of his people: for holy stones shall be lifted up over his land. ¹⁷ For what is the good thing of him, and what is his beautiful thing, but the corn of the elect, and wine springing forth virgins?

⁴⁰ And the king answering shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.

⁴ And I say to you, my friends: Be not afraid of them who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do.

⁶ And coming home, call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them: Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost? ⁷ I say to you that even so there shall be joy in heaven upon one sinner that doth penance, more than upon ninety-nine just who need not penance.

⁹ And when she hath found it, call together her friends and neighbours, saying: Rejoice with me, because I have found the groat which I had lost. ¹⁰ So I say to you, there shall be joy before the angels of God upon one sinner doing penance.

²⁹ He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth Him, rejoiceth with joy because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled.

²¹ He that hath my commandments and keepeth them; he it is that loveth me. And he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him and will manifest myself to him. ²² Judas saith to him, not the Iscariot: Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said to him: If any one love me, he will keep my word. And my Father will love him and we will come to him and will make our abode with him.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you. ¹⁵ I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends. because all things, whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.

²⁹ And the disciples, every man according to his ability, purposed to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judea.

¹¹ That being enriched in all things, you may abound unto all simplicity which worketh through us thanksgiving to God. ¹² Because the administration of this office doth not only supply the want of the saints, but aboundeth also by many thanksgivings in the Lord. ¹³ By the proof of this ministry, glorifying God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ and for the simplicity of your communicating unto them and unto all. ¹⁴ And in their praying for you, being desirous of you, because of the excellent grace of God in you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury: but be ye filled with the Holy Spirit,

⁸ Because now we live, if you stand in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanks can we return to God for you, in all the joy wherewith we rejoice for you before our God,

¹² I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of the church will I praise thee. ¹³ And again: I will put my trust in him. And again: Behold I and my children, whom God hath given me. ¹⁴ Therefore because the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner hath been partaker of the same: that, through death, he might destroy him who had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil:

¹⁷ And the spirit and the bride say: Come. And he that heareth, let him say: Come. And he that thirsteth, let him come. And he that will, let him take the water of life, freely.
