²⁶ Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise as it was in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ So will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed. ³¹ On that day, let him who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away. And likewise let him who is in the field not turn back. ³² Remember Lot's wife.

¹³ But others were mocking and said, "They are full of sweet wine."

²⁵ But as he was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, "Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you."

⁴ Or do you presume upon the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not know that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

⁶ To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

⁹ But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

⁴ treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

³ how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us by those who heard him,

¹⁵ Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the worldthe lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifeis not of the Father but is of the world.
