¹³ For judgment will be without mercy to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

¹⁵ But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

¹ "Judge not, that you be not judged. ² For with the same judgment you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

²⁸ But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay me what you owe.' ²⁹ So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you back.' ³⁰ But he refused, and went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. ³¹ When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and went and told their master all that had happened. ³² Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. ³³ Should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?' ³⁴ And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. ³⁵ So also my heavenly Father will do to each of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."

⁴¹ "Then he will say to those on his left hand, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels: ⁴² for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, ⁴³ I was a stranger and you did not take me in, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' ⁴⁴ Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?' ⁴⁵ Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' ⁴⁶ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

³⁷ "Judge not, and you will not be judged. Condemn not, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things; but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

⁶ to the praise of his glorious grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. ⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), ⁶ and raised us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ⁷ so that in the coming ages he might show the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out against you; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

⁸ He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ⁹ In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world. ¹⁵ Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

¹⁸ There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. And he who fears is not made perfect in love. ¹⁹ We love because he first loved us.
