¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen exiles in the Dispersion, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, ² who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling with his blood: may grace and peace be yours in abundance. ³ Blessed be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, kept in heaven for you, ⁵ who are protected by God's power through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials, ⁷ so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ⁸ Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy, ⁹ as you obtain the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. ¹⁰ As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you inquired and searched carefully, ¹¹ seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. ¹² It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaventhings into which angels long to look. ¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober in spirit, set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ¹⁴ As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, ¹⁵ but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; ¹⁶ because it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy." ¹⁷ If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your exile on earth. ¹⁸ You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. ²⁰ He was destined before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. ²¹ Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. ²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart. ²³ For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. ²⁴ For, "All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, ²⁵ but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word which was preached to you.

¹⁸ As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

¹² Rejoice and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

¹⁸ For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will by any means pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

² The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

²⁴ The Son of Man goes just as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born."

²⁸ I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one shall snatch them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one."

⁵² and not for that nation only, but also that he would gather together into one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

Therefore I said that he will take of what is mine and declare it to you.

²² So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

³³ I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage! I have overcome the world."

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you,

¹⁵ I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one.

² And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. ³ And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵ Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. ⁶ And at this sound the crowd came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ They were amazed and wondered, saying, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? ⁸ And how is it that we hear them, each of us in his own native language? ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabswe hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God."

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning him. ²⁸ Though they found no ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. ²⁹ When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.

²² strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God."

²⁸ Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with the blood of his Own.

³² And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

²² To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen: ²³ that the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles."

¹² looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by fire, and the elements will melt with intense heat! ¹³ But according to his promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by him in peace, spotless and blameless.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have touched, concerning the Word of life, ² the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us ³ that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

² And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁷ And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

²⁹ If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does right is born of him.

² Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. ³ And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

⁵ And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him there is no sin.

⁸ He who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ No one who is of God practices sin, for God's seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

¹¹ For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. ¹⁵ Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. ¹⁶ By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word or tongue but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ By this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him

²³ And this is his commandment: that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he has commanded us.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

⁹ In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

¹² No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

¹⁹ We love because he first loved us. ²⁰ If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

¹ Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child.

⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the worldour faith.

¹⁸ We know that anyone born of God does not sin; but he who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

¹ The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not only I, but also all who know the truth,

¹³ The children of your chosen sister greet you.

¹ Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: ² may mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with great joy,

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

⁷ Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all tribes of the earth will mourn because of him. Even so. Amen.

¹¹ saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

⁴ But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful even until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

⁷ "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'These are the words of him who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens:

¹⁰ Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

¹⁸ Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments to clothe you, and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.

⁸ And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to sing, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come."

⁶ And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as if it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals; for you were slain, and with your blood purchased men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

¹¹ Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands,

¹⁰ they cried out with a loud voice, "O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

¹⁴ I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

⁸ and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.

¹ Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

¹⁶ saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, she who was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! ¹⁷ In one hour such great wealth has been laid waste!' And every shipmaster and all passengers and sailors, and all who make their living by the sea, stood far off,

¹⁰ Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

²⁷ Nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
