²¹ Fear Yahweh, my son, and the king; With both of them do not be enraged;"

³¹ and Israel discerned the great hand with which Yahweh had done this to Egypt. So the people feared Yahweh and believed in Yahweh and in Moses His servant.

¹ Korah son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, arose along with Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth (sons of Reuben);" ² they arose before Moses with men from the sons of Israel, two hundred fifty princes of the congregation, those called to appointment, men of renown. ³ They assembled against Moses and against Aaron and said to them:Enough of you! For the whole congregation, all of them are holy, and in their midst is Yahweh; so for what reason are you lifting yourselves up over the assembly of Yahweh?

⁵ and say unto him, `Lo, you have become aged, and your sons have not walked in your ways; now, appoint to us a king, to judge us, like all the nations.. <sup>6</sup> And the thing is evil in the eyes of Samuel, when they have said, `Give to us a king to judge us;' and Samuel prays unto Yahweh. ⁷ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Hearken to the voice of the people, to all that they say unto you, for you they have not rejected, but Me they have rejected, from reigning over them.

¹² `And you see that Nahash king of the Bene-Ammon has come against you, and you say to me, Nay, but a king does reign over us; and Yahweh your Elohim [is] your king!" <sup>13</sup> And, now, lo, the king whom you have chosen--whom you have asked! and lo, Yahweh has placed over you a king. <sup>14</sup> `If you fear Yahweh, and have served Him, and hearkened to His voice, then you do not provoke the mouth of Yahweh, and you have been--both you and the king who has reigned over you--after Yahweh your Elohim. ¹⁵ `And if you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh--then you have provoked the mouth of Yahweh, and the hand of Yahweh has been against you, and against your fathers. <sup>16</sup> `Also now, station yourselves and see this great thing which Yahweh is doing before your eyes;" ¹⁷ is it not wheat-harvest to-day? I call unto Yahweh, and He does give voices and rain; and know you and see that your evil is great which you have done in the eyes of Yahweh, to ask for you a king.. ¹⁸ And Samuel calls unto Yahweh, and Yahweh gives voices and rain, on that day, and all the people greatly fear Yahweh and Samuel;" ¹⁹ and all the people say unto Samuel, `Pray for your servants unto Yahweh your Elohim, and we do not die, for we have added to all our sins evil to ask for us a king..

⁶ and he said to his men, `Far be it from me, by Yahweh; I do not do this thing to my lord--to the anointed of Yahweh--to put forth my hand against him, for the anointed of Yahweh he [is]..

¹³ And he who is declaring tidings comes in unto David, saying, `The heart of the men of Israel has been after Absalom.. <sup>14</sup> And David said to all his servants who [are] with him in Jerusalem, `Rise, and we flee, for we have no escape from the face of Absalom; haste to go, lest he hasten, and have overtaken us, and forced on us evil, and smitten the city by the mouth of the sword.. ¹⁵ And the servants of the king say unto the king, `According to all that my lord the king chooses--lo, your servants [do].. <sup>16</sup> And the king goes out, and all his household at his feet, and the king leaves ten women--concubines--to keep the house. <sup>17</sup> And the king goes out, and all the people at his feet, and they stand still at the farthest off house. <sup>18</sup> And all his servants are passing on at his side, and all the Cherethite, and all the Pelethite, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came at his feet from Gath, are passing on at the front of the king. <sup>19</sup> And the king said unto Ittai the Gittite, `Why do you go--you also--with us? turn back--and abide with the king, for you [are] a stranger, and also an exile you--to your place. ²⁰ Yesterday [is] your coming in, and to-day I move you to go with us, and I am going on that which I am going! --turn back, and take back your brethren with you, --kindness and truth.. ²¹ And Ittai answers the king and said, `Yahweh lives, and my lord the king lives, surely in the place where my lord the king is--if for death, if for life, surely there is your servant.. <sup>22</sup> And David said unto Ittai, `Go and pass over;' and Ittai the Gittite passes over, and all his men, and all the infants who [are] with him. ²³ And all the land are weeping--a great voice, and all the people are passing over; and the king is passing over through the brook Kidron, and all the people are passing over on the front of the way of the wilderness;" ²⁴ and lo, also Zadok, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of Elohim, and they make the ark of Elohim firm, and Abiathar goes up, till the completion of all the people to pass over out of the city. ²⁵ And the king said to Zadok, `Take back the ark of Elohim to the city; if I find grace in the eyes of Yahweh, then He has brought me back, and shown me it and His habitation;" <sup>26</sup> and if thus He say, I have not delighted in you; here [am] I, He does to me as [is] good in His eyes.. <sup>27</sup> And the king said unto Zadok the priest, `Are you a seer? turn back to the city in peace, and Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan son of Abiathar, your two sons with you;" ²⁸ see you, I am tarrying in the plains of the wilderness till the coming in of a word from you to declare to me.. ²⁹ And Zadok takes back--and Abiathar--the ark of Elohim to Jerusalem, and they abide there. ³⁰ And David is going up in the ascent of the olives, going up and weeping, and he has the head covered, and he is going barefooted, and all the people who [are] with him have covered each his head, and have gone up, going up and weeping;" ³¹ and David declared, saying, `Ahithophel [is] among the conspirators with Absalom;' and David said, `Make foolish, I pray You, the counsel of Ahithophel, O Yahweh.. ³² And it comes to pass, David has come unto the top, where he bows himself to Elohim, and lo, to meet him [is] Hushai the Archite, his coat rent, and earth on his head;" ³³ and David said to him, `If you have passed on with me then you have been on me for a burden, ³⁴ and if to the city you do turn back, and have said to Absalom, Your servant I am, O king; servant of your father I [am] also hitherto, and now, I [am] also your servant; then you have made void for me the counsel of Ahithophel;" ³⁵ and are there not with you there Zadok and Abiathar the priests? and it has been, the whole of the matter that you hear from the house of the king you do declare to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests. ³⁶ Lo, there with them [are] their two sons, Ahimaaz to Zadok, and Jonathan to Abiathar, and you have sent by their hand unto me anything that you hear.. ³⁷ And Hushai, David's friend, comes in to the city, and Absalom comes in to Jerusalem.

¹⁶ And all Israel see that the king has not hearkened unto them, and the people send the king back word, saying, `What portion have we in David? yea, there is no inheritance in the son of Jesse; to your tents, O Israel; now see your house, O David!' and Israel goes to its tents.

² Observe the king's bidding, And that on account of the oath of Elohim." ³ Do not be rash in going from his presence; Do not stand in an evil matter, For all that he desires he does." ⁴ For indeed a king's word has authority, And who can say to him, What are you doing? ⁵ He who observes instruction shall know no evil matter, And the wise heart shall know time and judgment."

²¹ They are saying, "Caesar's.Then He is saying to them, "Be paying, then, Caesar's to Caesar, and God's to God."

¹ Let every soul be subject to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except under God. Now those which are, have been set under God, ² so that he who is resisting an authority has withstood God's mandate. Now those who have withstood, will be getting judgment for themselves, ³ for magistrates are not a fear to the good act, but to the evil. Now you do not want to be fearing the authority. Do good, and you will be having applause from it." ⁴ For it is God's servant for your good. Now if you should be doing evil, fear, for not feignedly is it wearing the sword. For it is God's servant, an avenger for indignation to him who is committing evil." ⁵ Wherefore it is necessary to be subject, not only because of indignation, but also because of conscience." ⁶ For therefore you are settling taxes also, for they are God's ministers, perpetuated for this self-same thing." ⁷ Render to all their dues, to whom tax, tax, to whom tribute, tribute, to whom fear, fear, to whom honor, honor."

¹ Remind them to be subject to sovereignties, to authorities; to be yielding, and to be ready for every good work,

¹³ You may be subject to every human creation because of the Lord, whether to the king, as a superior, ¹⁴ or to governors, as being sent by him for vengeance on evildoers, yet for the applause of doers of good." ¹⁵ For thus it is the will of God, by doing good to be muzzling the ignorance of imprudent men;" ¹⁶ as free, and not as having freedom for a cover over evil, but as God's slaves." ¹⁷ Honor all; love the brotherhood; fear God; honor the king.
