¹² For I made a way of escape for the humble who implored, And the orphan and him who had no helper.

²² Any widow or orphan you shall not humiliate. ²³ If you humiliate, yea humiliate him, in case he should cry, yea cry to Me, I shall hear, yea hear his cry, ²⁴ and My anger will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives will become widows and your sons orphans.

¹⁸ the One executing judgment of orphan and widow, the One loving the sojourner, so as to give him bread and garment.

² yea, there are who are saying, `Our sons, and our daughters, we--are many, and we receive corn, and eat, and live.. <sup>3</sup> And there are who are saying, `Our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses, we are pledging, and we receive corn for the famine.. ⁴ And there are who are saying, `We have borrowed money for the tribute of the king, [on] our fields, and our vineyards;" <sup>5</sup> and now, as the flesh of our brethren [is] our flesh, as their sons [are] our sons, and lo, we are subduing our sons and our daughters for servants, and there are of our daughters subdued, and our hand has no might, and our fields and our vineyards [are] to others.. <sup>6</sup> And it is very displeasing to me when I have heard their cry and these words, <sup>7</sup> and my heart reigns over me, and I strive with the freemen, and with the prefects, and say to them, `Usury one upon another you are exacting;' and I set against them a great assembly, ⁸ and say to them, `We have acquired our brethren the Jews, those sold to the nations, according to the ability that [is] in us, and you also sell your brethren, and they have been sold to us!' and they are silent, and have not found a word. <sup>9</sup> And I say, `Not good [is] the thing that you are doing; in the fear of our Elohim do you not walk, because of the reproach of the nations our enemies? ¹⁰ And also, I, my brethren, and my servants, are exacting of them silver and corn; let us leave off, I pray you, this usury. ¹¹ Give back, I pray you, to them, as to-day, their fields, their vineyards, their olive-yards, and their houses, and the hundredth [part] of the money, and of the corn, of the new wine, and of the oil, that you are exacting of them.. ¹² And they say, `We give back, and of them we seek nothing; so we do as you are saying.' And I call the priests, and cause them to swear to do according to this thing;" <sup>13</sup> also, my lap I have shaken, and I say, `Thus does Elohim shake out every man, who does not perform this thing, from his house, and from his labor; yea, thus is he shaken out and empty;' and all the assembly say, `Amen,' and praise Yahweh; and the people do according to this thing.

⁵ Is it not because your evil is great, And there is no end to your depravities? ⁶ For you have taken pledge from your brothers gratuitously, And you have stripped the garments of the naked. ⁷ No water have you given the faint to drink, And from the hungry have you withheld bread. ⁸ The man of the arm of power, he has the land, And he of repute is dwelling in it. ⁹ Widows you have sent away empty, And the arms of orphans you have crushed.

⁴ They turn aside the needy from the way; The humble of the earth must hide together.

¹⁷ And I have eaten my morsel by myself alone, So that the orphan could not eat of i.

²¹ If I have waved my hand against the orphan Because I saw my backing was in the gate,

⁵ The Father of orphans and Adjudicator of widows, Elohim in His holy habitation."

¹² For He shall rescue the needy one imploring, And the humbled one, when there is no helper for him."

² How long shall you judge with iniquity And lift up the faces of the wicked? {Interlude{ ³ Redress the poor and the orphan; To the humbled and destitute grant justice. ⁴ Deliver the poor and the needy; From the hand of the wicked, give rescue."

¹³ Whoever closes up his ear to the outcry of the poor--When he himself also calls out, he shall not be answered."

¹¹ Rescue those being taken to death, And you should keep back those who are slipping away to the kill." ¹² If you say, Behold, we know nothing about this, Does not He Who regulates hearts detect it, And He Who preserves your soul know it, Who will render to a man according to his deeds?

¹⁶ He decided the cause of the poor and needy, Then [it is] well--is it not to know Me? An affirmation of Yahweh."

²⁷ for ritual clean and undefiled with God the Father is this: to be visiting the bereaved and widowed in their affliction, to be keeping oneself unspotted from the world."
