¹ Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said: ² Therefore my disquieting thoughts are causing me to reply, On account of my hurried sense within me. ³ I am hearing admonition meant to confound me, And the spirit of my understanding makes me respond. ⁴ Don't you know this, from long ago, From when humanity was placed on the earth, ⁵ That the jubilation of the wicked is brief, And the rejoicing of the polluted lasts but a moment? ⁶ Even if his dignity ascends to the heavens, And his head touches the thick clouds, ⁷ He shall perish permanently like his own ordure; Those having seen him shall say, Where is he? ⁸ He shall fly away like a dream, and they shall not find him, For he shall be bolted away like a vision of the night. ⁹ The eye that glanced at him shall not do so anymore, Neither shall his place regard him further. ¹⁰ His sons must benefact the poor, And his hands must restore the wealth of his virility. ¹¹ His bones were filled by his adolescence, Yet that gain shall lie with him in the soil. ¹² Even if evil is sweet in his mouth, And he suppresses it under his tongue, ¹³ Though he spares it and does not forsake it, And he holds fast to it in the midst of his palate, ¹⁴ Yet his bread shall turn sour in his bowels, The bile of cobras within him. ¹⁵ The estate he has swallowed down, he shall vomit it up; El shall evict it from his belly. ¹⁶ He shall suck the poison of cobras; The tongue of a puff-adder shall kill him. ¹⁷ He shall not see the rillets, The streams of watercourses flowing with honey and clotted cream. ¹⁸ He must return the fruit of his labor and not swallow it down, And in the estate of his commerce, he has no enjoyment. ¹⁹ For he has maltreated, he has forsaken the poor; He has pillaged a house which he did not build. ²⁰ For he has not known ease from the craving of his belly; From his coveting, he has not tried to escape. ²¹ There was nothing surviving for him as food. Therefore his good state cannot hope to last. ²² When his affluence is full there shall be distress for him; Every means of misery shall come upon him. ²³ It shall come to be, in order to fill his belly, That He shall send against him the heat of His anger And shall rain it upon him as his nourishment. ²⁴ He shall have to run away from a weapon of iron; An arrow of a copper bow shall pass through him. ²⁵ It will be pulled out and be brought forth from his body, And a flashing blade from his bile; Dread shall come over him. ²⁶ Total darkness lies buried for his secluded riches; A fire that was not blown shall devour him; It shall imperil anything surviving in his tent. ²⁷ The heavens shall expose his depravity, And the earth will rise against him. ²⁸ The deluge shall deport his house, Spilling over in the day of His anger. ²⁹ This is the portion from Elohim for the wicked person, And the allotment assigned him by El.

¹¹ Now three associates of Job heard about all this evil coming on him, and they set out, each one from his place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite. They appointed a time together to come and condole with him and comfort him.

¹ Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said:

⁹ So they went, Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, and they did just as Yahweh had spoken to them. And Yahweh lifted up Job's face.

² If someone tries a word with you, would you tire? Yet who can restrain from declarations?

¹⁹ Who is he who shall contend with me? For I would then keep silent and expire.

³ I am hearing admonition meant to confound me, And the spirit of my understanding makes me respond.

¹³ Beware lest you say, We have found wisdom; El Himself is our Mentor, not man. ¹⁴ Hence I shall not array such declarations as these. But not with your arguments shall I reply to him. ¹⁵ They are dismayed; they do not answer further; They shift declarations away from them. ¹⁶ I have waited, but since they are not speaking, Since they stand and do not answer further, ¹⁷ I shall answer, I also, with my portion; I shall disclose my knowledge, I also. ¹⁸ For I am full of declarations; The spirit of my belly constrains me. ¹⁹ Behold, my belly is like wine that is not opened, Like new wineskins, it is ready to split. ²⁰ Let me speak so that it can ventilate me; I must open my lips and answer.

²² Yet I, I had said in my consternation, I am severed from in front of Your eyes. Nevertheless, You heard the voice of my supplications In my imploring to You."

² I have become mute in stillness; I hushed even from what is good, Yet my pain was troubled more." ³ My heart kindled warm within me; A fire consumed in my soliloquy; I spoke with my tongue:

¹¹ I said in my consternation, Every human is a liar."

²⁹ He who is slow to anger shows great comprehension, Yet he who is short of spirit heightens folly."

²⁰ Do you perceive a man who rushes with his words? There is more expectation for a stupid man than for him.

⁹ Do not be rash to be vexed in your spirit, For vexation rests in the bosom of the stupid."

⁹ And I said, `I do not mention Him, Nor do I speak any more in His name,' And it has been in my heart As a burning fire shut up in my bones, And I have been weary of containing, And I am not able."

²⁵ And entering straightway with diligence to the king, she requests, saying, "I want that you forthwith may be giving me on a platter the head of John the baptist."

² For I am testifying to them that they have a zeal of God, but not in accord with recognition."

¹⁹ Now you are aware, my beloved brethren! Yet let every man be swift to hear, tardy to speak, tardy to anger,

³ These ten times have you criticized me; You are not ashamed that you ill-treat me.

²⁹ Shrink for yourselves from the presence of the sword (For your fury is like depravities of the sword) That you may know what adjudication is.

² Therefore my disquieting thoughts are causing me to reply, On account of my hurried sense within me.

¹¹ I shall direct back to you these matters about the hand of El; What is concerning Him Who Suffices I shall not suppress.

³ My arguments reflect the uprightness of my heart, And my lips declare knowledge in purity.

³ My mouth, it shall speak wisdom, And the soliloquy of my heart, understanding."

² I will open my mouth with a proverb; I will utter enigmas from aforetime, ³ Which we have heard, and we know them, And our fathers, they have recounted to us." ⁴ We shall not suppress them from their sons, Recounting to the next generation the praises of Yahweh, And His strength and His marvelous works that He has done." ⁵ For He set up a testimony in Jacob, And He placed a law in Israel, Which He enjoined on our fathers To make them known to their sons,

²⁸ And blessing them is the Elohim. And saying to them is the Elohim, "Be fruitful and increase and fill the earth, and subdue it. And sway over the fish of the sea, and over the flyer of the heavens, and over the beast, and over all the earth, and over all life moving on the land.

¹ And blessing is the Elohim Noah and his sons. And saying is He to them, "Be fruitful and increase and fill the earth and subdue it. ² And the fear of you and dismay due to you shall come on every living animal of the earth, even on every flyer of the heavens, and in all which is moving on the ground, and in all the fishes of the sea. ³ Into your hand are they given. "And every moving animal which is living is coming to be food for you. As the green herbage I give to you all.

⁸ For ask, I pray, of the former generation, And establish yourself in the investigations of their fathers. ⁹ For we are of yesterday, and we know nothing, For our days on the earth are but a shadow.

¹⁰ Moreover, among us are the greyhaired and hoary-headed, More abundant in days than your father.

⁷ I said to myself, Let days speak, And many years make wisdom known.

¹⁶ The heavens are Yahweh's heavens, Yet He has given the earth to the sons of humanity."

⁹ The enemy said: I shall pursue! I shall overtake! I shall apportion the loot! My soul's desire shall be fulfilled on them! I shall unsheathe my sword! My hand shall evict them! ¹⁰ You made a breeze with Your wind; the sea covered them. They submerged as lead in the noble waters.

²¹ And the Philistines seize him, and pick out his eyes, and bring him down to Gaza, and bind him with two brazen fetters; and he is grinding in the prison-house. ²² And the hair of his head begins to shoot up, when he has been shaven, ²³ and the princes of the Philistines have been gathered together to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagon their elohim, and to rejoice; and they say, `Our elohim has given into our hand Samson our enemy.. <sup>24</sup> And the people see him, and praise their elohim, for they said, `Our elohim has given in our hand our enemy, and he who is laying waste our land, and who multiplied our wounded.. ²⁵ And it comes to pass, when their heart [is] glad, that they say, `Call for Samson, and he does play before us;' and they call for Samson out of the prison-house, and he plays before them, and they cause him to stand between the pillars. <sup>26</sup> And Samson said unto the young man who is keeping hold on his hand, `Let me alone, and let me feel the pillars on which the house is established, and I lean upon them.. ²⁷ And the house has been full of men and of women, and thither [are] all the princes of the Philistines, and on the roof [are] about three thousand men and women, who are looking on the playing of Samson. ²⁸ And Samson calls unto Yahweh, and said, `Lord Yahweh, remember me, I pray You, and strengthen me, I pray You, only this time, O Elohim; and I am avenged--vengeance at once--because of my two eyes, on the Philistines.. <sup>29</sup> And Samson turns aside [to] the two middle pillars, on which the house is established, and on which it is supported, [to] the one with his right hand, and one with his left;" <sup>30</sup> and Samson said, `Let me die with the Philistines,' and he inclines himself powerfully, and the house falls on the princes, and on all the people who [are] in it, and the dead whom he has put to death in his death are more than those whom he put to death in his life.

¹¹ Haman related to them the glory of his riches, his many sons and all about how the king had magnified him and how he had advanced him above all the king's chief officials and courtiers. ¹² Haman added:Indeed, queen Esther let no one save me come with the king to the banquet that she gave; and also tomorrow I am invited to her with the king.

¹⁰ Then they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's fury subsided.

³ I myself have seen the foolish man taking root, And I reviled his homestead suddenly.

¹² Even while it is in its full pollination, though it be not plucked, Yet it would dry up before all other grass. ¹³ So are the paths laid for all those forgetting El, And so the expectation of the polluted shall perish,

¹⁹ Behold, this is the elation of his brief way, And from the soil others shall sprout.

²⁹ He shall not be rich; His estate shall not rise, And his shadow shall not stretch out over the earth. ³⁰ He shall not be taken away from darkness; The blaze shall dry up his young shoot, And his bud shall be taken away by the wind. ³¹ No one may rely upon such futility; He shall be led astray, For futility shall become his remuneration. ³² When not yet its day, his palm tree shall be snipped off, And its fronds shall not be flourishing. ³³ Like a vine he shall cast down his unripe grape, And he shall fling off his blossom like an olive. ³⁴ For the congregation of the polluted is stark, And fire devours the tents of bribery.

⁵ Indeed the light of the wicked shall be extinguished, And the flare of his fire shall not brighten. ⁶ The light in his tent, it will become dark, And his lamp above him, it shall be extinguished.

⁸ For what expectation can the polluted have when he is clipped off, When Eloah eases away his soul?

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked person from El And the allotment terrifiers procure from Him Who Suffices. ¹⁴ However many are his sons, for them is the sword, And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ With the death plague they shall entomb his survivors, And his widows shall not lament. ¹⁶ If he piles up silver like soil And makes ready clothing like clay, ¹⁷ He shall make it ready, yet the righteous one shall put it on, And the innocent one shall apportion the silver. ¹⁸ He builds his house like a moth's cocoon, And like a booth that a field-keeper makes. ¹⁹ He shall lie down rich, yet he may not do so again; When he uncloses his eyes it shall not be there. ²⁰ Decadent things shall overtake him by day; A whirlwind shall steal him away at night. ²¹ The east wind shall carry him off so that he is gone, And it shall toss him away in a tempest from his place. ²² One shall fling stones against him and not spare As he runs away, yea away from his hand. ²³ One shall slap his palms at him And hiss him away from his place.

³⁵ I have seen a wicked one, a terrifier, Elevating himself like a flourishing native tree." ³⁶ Yet I passed by, and behold, he was not there, And I sought him, and he was not found."

¹⁸ Surely You shall set them down in slippery places; You will cast them into ruinations. ¹⁹ How they will become a desolation, as in a moment! They will be swept up; they will be finished by decadence!" ²⁰ Like a dream when one is waking, O Yahweh, when rousing, You shall lay waste their phantom."

²¹ Not everyone saying to Me 'Lord! Lord!' will be entering into the kingdom of the heavens, but he who is doing the will of My Father Who is in the heavens."

²⁰ Yet he who is being sown on the rocky places, this is he who is hearing the word and straightway with joy is getting it, ²¹ yet has no root in himself, but is temporary. Now at the coming of affliction or persecution because of the word, straightway he is snared."

²² Now the populace retorted, "A god's voice, and not a man's!" ²³ Now instantly a messenger of the Lord smites him, because he gives not the glory to God, and, becoming the food of worms, he gives up his soul."

⁴ Now let each one be testing his own work, and then he shall be having his boast for himself alone, and not for another,

¹⁶ Yet now you are vaunting in your ostentations. All such boasting is wicked.

⁴ And saying are they, "Prithee! Build will we for ourselves a city and a tower with its head in the heavens, and make for ourselves a name, lest we are scattering over the surface of the entire earth.

¹³ Yet you, you said in your heart, "To the heavens will I ascend! Above the stars of El will I raise high my throne, and I will sit in the mount of appointment, in the flanks of the north." ¹⁴ I will ascend on the fane heights of a thick cloud; I am likening myself to the Supreme!"

¹¹ The oak increases and is mighty, and its height is reaching to the heavens, and it is perceptible to the extremity of the entire earth."

²² you it is, O king, seeing that you are increased and mighty, and your grandeur is increased, and reaches to the heavens, and your authority to the extremity of the earth."

² If they are burrowing into the unseen, thence My hand will take them. And if they are ascending to the heavens, thence will I bring them down."

³ The arrogance of your heart lures you, O tabernacler in the holes of the crag. A height is his dwelling; he is saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to earth? ⁴ If you are elevated as the vulture, and if your nest is placed between the stars, thence will I bring you down (averring is Yahweh)."

²³ And you, Capernaum! Not to heaven shall you be exalted! To the unseen shall you subside, for, if the powerful deeds which are occurring in you had occurred in Sodom, it might remain unto today."

¹⁰ `Therefore, lo, I am bringing in evil unto the house of Jeroboam, and have cut off to Jeroboam those sitting on the wall--shut up and left--in Israel, and have put away the posterity of the house of Jeroboam, as one puts away the dung till its consumption;"

³⁷ and the carcase of Jezebel has been as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, that they say not, This [is] Jezebel..

²⁰ From morning to evening they are being pounded; Without being regarded, they perish permanently.

¹⁰ He shall not return any more to his house, And his place shall not recognize him again.

¹⁸ But if one swallows him up from his place, Then it disavows him:I have not seen you.

¹⁰ Yet a master shall die and be laid defeated; A human shall expire, and where is he?

¹⁰ They were exterminated at Endor; They became manure for the ground.

² And have spread them to sun, and to moon, And to all the host of the heavens, that they have loved, And that they have served, And that they have walked after, And that they have sought, And to which they have bowed themselves, They are not gathered, nor buried, They are for dung on the face of the ground."

¹⁸ They shall thrust him from light into darkness, And they shall chase him from the habitance.

¹⁰ He rode on a cherub and flew; So He swooped down on the wings of the wind.

²⁰ Like a dream when one is waking, O Yahweh, when rousing, You shall lay waste their phantom."

⁵ You storm them away to sleep; They become like the grass in the morning that passes by;

⁷ And it comes to be as a dream, a vision of the night, the throng of all the nations, the hosts against Ariel, and all her host and her constriction, and that which is constraining her." ⁸ And it comes to be as when one who is famishing is dreaming, and, behold! Eating is he! Yet he awakes and empty is his soul. And as when one who is thirsty is dreaming, and, behold! Drinking is he! And he awakes, and behold! Faint is he, and his soul is prowling. So is becoming the throng of all the nations, the hosts against mount Zion."

⁸ The eye of Him with sight shall not regard me; Your eyes will look for me, but I will not be there.

⁷ He shall perish permanently like his own ordure; Those having seen him shall say, Where is he?

³ As long as my breath is yet whole within me And the spirit of Eloah is in my nostrils,

¹⁰ And still a little while, and there will be no wicked one; When you consider his place, he will not be there."

³⁶ Yet I passed by, and behold, he was not there, And I sought him, and he was not found."

¹⁵ As for mortal man, his days are like grass, Like a blossom of the field, so is he blossoming." ¹⁶ For the wind, it passes over him, and he is no more, And his place shall not recognize him any longer."

² For if you refuse to dismiss them, and you still are holding fast to them,

³⁶ And Yahweh, He gave the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians, when they requested them; thus they despoiled the Egyptians.

¹ When a man steals a bull or a flockling and slaughters it or sells it, five oxen shall he repay for the bull and four small cattle for the flockling.

³ But if the sun has risen on him there is blood-guilt because of him.) He shall repay, yea repay; if he has nothing then he will be sold for his theft.

⁶ and the ewe-lamb he does repay fourfold, because that he has done this thing, and because that he had no pity..

⁴ May his sons go far from safety, And may they be crushed in the gate when there is no rescuer.

¹⁸ He must return the fruit of his labor and not swallow it down, And in the estate of his commerce, he has no enjoyment.

¹⁶ If he piles up silver like soil And makes ready clothing like clay, ¹⁷ He shall make it ready, yet the righteous one shall put it on, And the innocent one shall apportion the silver.

¹⁰ May his sons rove, yea rove so that they must beg, And may they be driven out from their deserted homes."

³¹ Yet when he is found, he shall repay sevenfold Though he must give up all the wealth of his house."

³ A wicked master, who extorts from the poor, Is a flattening rain that makes no nourishment."

⁸ Now standing, Zaccheus said to the Lord, "Lo! the half of my possessions, Lord, I am giving to the poor! And if from anyone I get anything by blackmail, I am giving back fourfold."

²⁶ That You may write bitter things against me, And impute to me the depravities of my youth,

²⁰ My bones cling to my skin and my flesh, And I escape only with the skin of my teeth.

²⁶ They lie together in the soil, And worms cover them both.

⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth and my transgressions; According to Your benignity, remember me, I pray You, On account of Your goodness, O Yahweh."

¹¹ And you have anguish in your latter days When your flesh and your brawn are exhausted, ¹² And you say, How I have hated discipline, And my heart has spurned correction!" ¹³ I have not hearkened to the voice of those directing my instruction, And to those teaching me I have not stretched out my ear;"

²² Concerning the wicked man, his depravities, they shall seize him, And by the cables of his sin shall he be held firm." ²³ He himself shall die in his lack of discipline, And in his great folly he shall expire."

³² The wicked man is tripped up by his evil, Yet the righteous one takes refuge in his integrity."

¹³ In your uncleanness [is] wickedness, Because I have cleansed you, And you have not been cleansed, From your uncleanness you are not cleansed again, Till I have caused My fury to rest on you."

²⁷ And they lie not with the mighty, Who are falling of the uncircumcised, Who have gone down to sheol with their weapons of war, And they put their swords under their heads, And their iniquities are on their bones, For the terror of the mighty [is] in the land of the living."

²¹ He said, then, again to them, "I am going away, and you will be seeking Me, and in your sin shall you be dying. Where I am going, you can not be coming."

²⁴ I said, then, to you, that you shall be dying in your sins. For if ever you should not be believing Me that I am, you shall be dying in your sins."

²⁵ out of these two to take the place of this dispensation and apostleship, from which Judas transgressed, to be gone into his own place."

⁶ And seeing is the woman that the tree is good for food, and that it brings a yearning to the eyes, and is to be coveted as the tree to make one intelligent. And taking is she of its fruit and is eating, and she is giving, moreover, to her husband with her, and they are eating."

¹⁶ How much less man, Who is abhorrent and spoiled, Who is drinking iniquity like water.

⁷ His mouth is full of imprecation, with deceit and fraud; Under his tongue are misery and lawlessness.

¹⁷ He loved malediction; may it come back on him. He has not delighted in blessing; may it stay far from him. ¹⁸ He clothed himself with malediction as his coat; May it enter within him like water, And like oil into his bones."

¹⁷ Stolen water is sweet, And bread eaten in concealments is pleasant." ¹⁸ But he does not know that the Rephaim are there, That those she has called are in the depths of the unseen."

¹⁷ Congenial to a man is bread gained by falsehood, Yet afterward his mouth shall be filled with gravel."

⁹ Rejoice, choice youth, in your childhood, And let your heart be well in the days of your prime; Walk in the ways of your heart and by the sight of your eyes, Yet know that for all these the One, Elohim, shall bring you into judgment."

¹⁸ And to the people you shall say:Sanctify yourselves for the morrow, when you will eat flesh, for you lamented in the ears of Yahweh, saying:Who shall give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt. Now Yahweh will give you flesh, and you will eat. ¹⁹ Not just one day shall you eat, nor two days nor five days nor ten days nor twenty days. ²⁰ Unto a month of days shall you eat until it comes forth from your nostrils and becomes odious to you because you rejected Yahweh Who is among you and lamented before Him, saying:Why is this that we came forth from Egypt?

²⁹ Now, if your right eye is snaring you, wrench it out and cast it from you, for it is expedient for you that one of your members should perish and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna. ³⁰ And if your right hand is snaring you, strike it off and cast it from you, for it is expedient for you that one of your members should perish and not your whole body pass away into Gehenna."

⁴³ And if your hand should ever be snaring you, strike it off. It is ideal for you to be entering into life maimed, rather than, having two hands, to come away into Gehenna, into the unextinguished fire" ⁴⁴ where their worm is not deceasing and the fire is not going out. ⁴⁵ And if your foot should be snaring you, strike it off. For it is ideal for you to be entering into life maimed or lame, rather than, having two feet, to be cast into Gehenna, into the unextinguished fire, ⁴⁶ where their worm is not deceasing and the fire is not going out. ⁴⁷ And if your eye should be snaring you, cast it out. It is ideal for you to be entering into the kingdom of God one-eyed, rather than, having two eyes, to be cast into the Gehenna of fire, ⁴⁸ where their worm is not deceasing and the fire is not going out. ⁴⁹ For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be salted with salt. "

¹³ for if you are living in accord with flesh, you are about to be dying. Yet if, in spirit, you are putting the practices of the body to death, you will be living."

²⁴ who are gaunt with famine, fought by pestilence and bitter sting:Even the tooth of beasts shall I send among them along with the venom of skulkers of the soil.

² and it comes to pass, at evening-time, that David rises from off his couch, and walks up and down on the roof of the king's house, and sees from the roof a woman bathing, and the woman [is] of very good appearance, ³ and David sends and inquires about the woman, and said, `Is not this Bath-Sheba, daughter of Eliam, wife of Uriah the Hittite?. <sup>4</sup> And David sends messengers, and takes her, and she comes unto him, and he lies with her--and she is purifying herself from her uncleanness--and she turns back unto her house;" <sup>5</sup> and the woman conceives, and sends, and declares to David, and said, `I [am] conceiving..

¹⁰ `And now, the sword does not turn aside from your house unto the eon, because you have despised Me, and do take the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be to you for a wife;" ¹¹ thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am raising up against you evil, out of your house, and have taken your wives before your eyes, and given to your neighbor, and he has lain with your wives before the eyes of this sun;"

¹⁶ He shall suck the poison of cobras; The tongue of a puff-adder shall kill him.

³ When I kept silent toward You, my bones became worn out With my roaring the entire day." ⁴ For by day and night, Your hand was heavy upon me; My freshness was turned into the droughts of summer. {Interlude{ "

I roar out of the anguish of my heart.

⁸ Let me hear elation and rejoicing; Let the bones You have crushed exult. ⁹ Conceal Your face from my sins, And all my depravities wipe out."

³¹ Thus they shall eat of the fruit of their way, And they shall be surfeited with the results of their counsels."

²⁰ Do not be among wine carousers, Among those who are gluttonous on flesh for themselves." ²¹ For the carouser and the gluttonous man shall become destitute, And slumber shall clothe one in tatters."

²⁹ Who has woe? who has uneasiness? who has quarrels? Who has deep concerns? who has gratuitous injuries? Who has bloodshot eyes? ³⁰ They have who delay over wine, Who come to investigate a blend." ³¹ Do not stare at wine when it is red, When it casts its sparkle in the cup and goes down evenly." ³² Its aftereffect shall bite like a serpent And spread pain like a yellow viper. ³³ Your eyes shall see strange things, And your heart shall speak wayward thoughts." ³⁴ You will become like one who lies down on the heart of the sea, Or like one who lies down on the top of the rigging." ³⁵ They smite me, yet I am not at all wounded; They beat me, yet I have no knowledge of it. When shall I awake? I shall do it again; I shall seek it once more."

¹⁹ Instruct you does your wickedness, And your backslidings reprove you, Know and see that an evil and a bitter thing [Is] your forsaking Yahweh your Elohim, And My fear not being on you, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh of Hosts."

² If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart to give glory to My name, says Yahweh of hosts, then I will send among you the curse. And I will curse your blessings. And, moreover, I have cursed them, and I will annul them, for you are not taking it to heart, and it shall not come among you."

¹³ A sepulcher opened is their throat. With their tongues they defraud."The venom of asps is under their lips."

⁸ Your morsel you have eaten, you shall vomit it up, And ruin your pleasant words."

³ Then Judas, who gives Him up, perceiving that He was condemned, regretting, turns back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, ⁴ saying, "I sinned in giving up innocent blood.Yet they said, "What is it to us? You should be seeing to that!"

⁶ The load of the beasts of the south rim; in a land of distress and aridity and constraint, the parent lion and the long maned lion are there, yet no water. The puff adder and the burning serpent are making flight. They are bearing on the shoulders of donkeys their estate, and on the humps of camels their treasures, to a people who are not benefiting them for help, but for shame and for reproach."

⁷ Now, perceiving many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Progeny of vipers! Who intimates to you to be fleeing from the impending indignation?

³ Now at Paul's twisting together a certain quantity of kindling and placing it on the fire, a viper, coming out of the warmth, fastens on his hand." ⁴ Now, as the barbarians perceived the wild beast hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "Undoubtedly this man is a murderer, whom, being safely through out of the sea, Justice lets not live." ⁵ He, indeed, then, twitching the wild beast into the fire, suffered nothing evil." ⁶ Yet they were apprehensive that he is about to become inflamed or suddenly fall down dead. Yet, after much apprehension, and beholding nothing coming to be amiss with him, retracting, they said he is a god."

²³ they assuredly shall not see the land about which I had sworn to their fathers! All who are spurning Me shall not see it.

¹³ He made him ride on fane heights of the land and made him eat produce of the field; He made him suckle honey from the crag and oil from the flinty rock, ¹⁴ clotted cream of the herd and milk of the flock, with fat of butting rams and rams of Bashan-breed and he-goats, with the fat of the wheat germ. And from the blood of the grape you drank turbid wine.

²⁹ and honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, have brought nigh for David, and for the people who [are] with him to eat, for they said, `Your people [is] hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness..

² And the captain whom the king has, by whose hand he has been supported, answers the man of Elohim and said, `Lo, Yahweh is making windows in the heavens--shall this thing be?' and he said, `Lo, you are seeing it with your eyes, and thereof you do not eat..

⁶ When my goings were washed in clotted cream, And the rock poured out for me rillets of oil.

⁸ They are satiated with the richness of Your House, And You give them the watercourse of Your luxuries to drink;" ⁹ For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light shall we see light.

¹⁶ Yet He shall feed him with the fat of the wheat; With honey from the rock shall I satisfy you.

¹⁵ Clotted cream and honey shall he eat before he knows to reject evil and to choose good.

²² and it comes, from the vast yield of milk, he shall eat clotted cream, for clotted cream and honey shall everyone eat, who is left within the land."

¹⁷ The humble and the needy are seeking water, yet there is none. Their tongue is benumbed with thirst. I, Yahweh, will respond to them; the Elohim of Israel, I will not forsake them."

⁶ And he has been as a naked thing in a desert, And does not see when good comes, And has inhabited parched places in a wilderness, A salt land, and not inhabited." ⁷ Blessed [is] the man who trusts in Yahweh, And whose confidence has been Yahweh." ⁸ And has been as a tree planted by waters, And by a rivulet he sends forth his roots, And he does not see when heat comes, And his leaf has been green, And in a year of dearth he is not sorrowful, Nor does he cease from making fruit."

²⁴ And he shouting, said, 'Father Abraham, be merciful to me, and send Lazarus that he should be dipping the tip of his finger in water and cooling my tongue, for I am pained in this flame.'"

¹ And he shows me a river of water of life, resplendent as crystal, issuing out of the throne of God and the Lambkin."

⁵ That the jubilation of the wicked is brief, And the rejoicing of the polluted lasts but a moment?

¹⁰ His sons must benefact the poor, And his hands must restore the wealth of his virility.

¹⁵ The estate he has swallowed down, he shall vomit it up; El shall evict it from his belly.

²⁵ If I have rejoiced that my estate is vast And that my hand has found abundance,

²⁹ If I have rejoiced in the misfortune of the one hating me, And I have roused myself in joy because evil had overtaken hi.

¹² Like the unseen, we shall swallow them up alive, And robust like those descending to a crypt,

⁷ Mournful is the grape juice; enfeebled is the vine. Sigh does every rejoicing heart. ⁸ Cease does the elation of tambourines. Left off is the tumult of the joyous. Cease does the elation of the harp. ⁹ Ashamed, they are drinking no wine. And the intoxicant is bitter to its drinkers." ¹⁰ Broken is every town--a chaos. Locked is every house against entry. ¹¹ Yelling over the wine is in the streets; the eventide is it for all rejoicing. Deported is all the elation of the land.

¹⁵ What--to My beloved in My house, Her doing wickedness with many, And the holy flesh do pass over from you? When you do evil, then you exult." ¹⁶ `An olive, green, fair, of goodly fruit,' Has Yahweh called your name, At the noise of a great tumult He has kindled fire against it, And broken have been its thin branches."

¹³ Woe to him who is building his house by unrighteousness, And his upper chambers by injustice, On his neighbor he lays service for nought, And his wage he does not give to him."

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not, Except on your dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence."

³⁴ Devoured us, crushed us, has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, He has set us [as] an empty vessel, He has swallowed us as a dragon, He has filled his belly with my dainties, He has driven us away."

⁴⁴ And I have seen after Bel in Babylon, And I have brought forth that which he swallowed--from his mouth, And flow no more unto him do nations, Also the wall of Babylon has fallen."

¹⁶ They open their mouth wide at you, all your enemies; They hiss and gnash their teeth; they say, We have swallowed them up! Yea, this is the day that we expected; we have come upon it and have seen it!"

¹² Come has the time, arrived has the day, The buyer does not rejoice, And the seller does not become a mourner, For wrath [is] unto all its multitude."

⁷ For they are sowing the wind, and they shall reap the sweeping whirlwind. There is no raised grain for him; the sprout shall fail to yield meal; perhaps it shall yield, but then aliens shall swallow it down." ⁸ Israel is swallowed down. Now shall they come to be among the nations, as an instrument in which there is no delight."

¹ You must not rejoice, Israel, with exultation as the peoples, for you commit prostitution departing from your Elohim. You love a fee on all the threshing sites for grain;"

⁴ Hear this, you who are snuffing up the needy in the morning, and who eradicate the humble of the land,

¹³ Now woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are locking the kingdom of the heavens in front of men. For you are not entering, neither are you letting those entering to enter."

²⁴ Blind guides! straining out a gnat, yet swallowing a camel!"

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will be drawing near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, double-souled!" ⁹ Be wretched and mourn and lament. Let your laughter be converted into mourning, and joy into dejection."

³³ A people you do not know shall devour the fruit of your ground and all your labor, and you will surely be extorted and bruised all the days,

³ `Lo, here [am] I; testify against me, over-against Yahweh, and over-against His anointed; whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I oppressed; whom have I bruised, and of whose hand have I taken a ransom, and hide mine eyes with it? --and I restore to you.. <sup>4</sup> And they say, `You have not oppressed us, nor have you crushed us, nor have you taken from the hand of any one anything..

¹⁹ and you have spoken unto him, saying, Thus said Yahweh, Have you murdered, and also possessed? and you have spoken unto him, saying, Thus said Yahweh, In the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, do the dogs lick your blood, even your..

¹⁵ It shall tabernacle in his tent which no longer is his; Sulfur shall be sifted about his homestead.

²⁷ Behold, I know your reckonings And the plans that you wrongly make against me. ²⁸ For you are saying, Where is the house of the tyrant, And where are the tent tabernacles of the wicked?

⁶ For you have taken pledge from your brothers gratuitously, And you have stripped the garments of the naked.

² The wicked move away boundary markers; They pillage the drove and openly graze them. ³ The orphans donkey they lead away; They take the widow's bull as a pledge. ⁴ They turn aside the needy from the way; The humble of the earth must hide together. ⁵ Behold, like onagers in the wilderness They go forth early for prey, In their contriving until the evening; Yet no nourishment for their youths!" ⁶ They reap in the field at night, And they scavenge in the vineyard of the wicked. ⁷ Naked, they lodge at night without clothing, And they have no covering for the cold. ⁸ They are doused by the mountain storm, And without a refuge they hug to a rock. ⁹ Yet others snatch the orphan from the breast, And they take as a pledge the unweaned of the humble. ¹⁰ Naked they go without clothing, And hungry they carry the sheaf. ¹¹ Without their songs they clarify oil; They tread the wine vats yet are thirsty. ¹² In the city the dying moan, And the soul of the wounded implores for help; Yet Eloah, He does not place charges of impropriety.

¹³ If I have rejected the plea of my servant and my maidservant When they have brought a contention against me, ¹⁴ Then what shall I do when El arises, And when He visits, what shall I reply to Him? ¹⁵ Did not He Who made me in the belly make him also, So that the same One prepared us both in the womb? ¹⁶ If I have withheld the desire of the poor And have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, ¹⁷ And I have eaten my morsel by myself alone, So that the orphan could not eat of i. ¹⁸ (Indeed from my youth he grew great as with a father, And from the belly of my mother I have guided her), ¹⁹ If I have seen anyone perishing from lack of clothing, And there was no covering for the needy, ²⁰ If his loins did not bless me, Since he was warmed with the fleece of my lambs, ²¹ If I have waved my hand against the orphan Because I saw my backing was in the gate, ²² Then may my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, And may my arm be broken from the clavicle.

³⁸ If my ground has cried out against me, And its furrows have wept together with it, ³⁹ If I have eaten of its vigor without paying silver, So that I have caused the soul of its possessor to expire,

⁹ Under a multitude of extortions they cry out; They implore under the arm of those with great power.

¹⁸ To redress the orphan and the crushed. A mortal of the earth shall not continue at all to terrify any more. {Permanent{

⁵ Because of the devastation of the humbled, Because of the groaning of the needy, Now I shall arise, says Yahweh; I shall set him in safety; I shall shine forth for him.

³¹ He who extorts from the poor shows reproach to his Maker, Yet he glorifies Him who is gracious to the needy."

²² Do not pillage the poor, for he is poor, And do not crush the humble one in the gate." ²³ For Yahweh Himself shall contend their contention, And He will defraud their defrauders of their soul."

¹ And again I saw all the extortions that are done under the sun; Behold, the tears of those being extorted, And there is no comforter for them; Vigor is in the hand of their extortioners, And there is no comforter for them."

⁸ If you should see extortion of the destitute And pillage of judgment and justice in a province, Do not be amazed over the event, For one lofty official above another lofty official is observing, And other lofty officials are over them."

⁷ For the vineyard of Yahweh of hosts is the house of Israel, and each man of Judah His plant delectable. And He is expecting judgment, and behold! Transgression! Righteousness, and behold! A cry!" ⁸ Woe to those touching house to house, bringing field near to field unto the limits of a place! That from an associate they may withdraw it, and it causes you to dwell all alone within the land!"

³⁴ To crush beneath His feet all the prisoners of the earth,

²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression, And have taken plunder violently away, And humble and needy have oppressed, And the sojourner oppressed--without judgment."

¹ Hear this word, young cows of Bashan, which are in the mountain of Samaria, the ones extorting the poor, the ones bruising the needy, the ones saying to their lords, Bring, and let us drink." ² My Lord Yahweh swears by His holiness, that, Behold days shall come on you, when they will assist you away with targes, and the hindmost of you with briars of fishing." ³ And at the breaches shall you fare forth, each woman straight in front of her, and you shall be flung toward the highland, (averring is Yahweh Elohim)."

² And they covet fields and snatch them, and houses, and bear them away, and they extort the master and his house, the man and his allotment."

⁹ The wives of My people are you driving out from the house of their delicacies, from their unweaned children you are taking My honor for the eon."

⁶ Yet you dishonor the poor one. Are not the rich tyrannizing over you? And they are drawing you to tribunals.

¹³ For the judging is merciless to him who does not exercise mercy. Vaunting is mercy against judging.

⁴ Lo! the wage of the workers, who mow your country places, which has been withheld by you, is crying, and the imploring of the reapers has entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts."

¹³ There is a travailing evil I have seen under the sun:Riches are kept by their possessor to his peril; ¹⁴ Then these riches perish through some experience of evil, When he begets a son, then there is not anything left in his hand."

²⁰ Yet the wicked are as the disgorging sea, for quiet it cannot be, and disgorging are its waters foulness and mud." ²¹ No peace,says Yahweh, my Elohim, "is there for the wicked."

²⁹ He shall not be rich; His estate shall not rise, And his shadow shall not stretch out over the earth.

¹⁹ For him there is no posterity and no progeny among his people, And there will be no survivor in the places of his sojourning.

¹¹ A partridge hatching, and not bringing forth, [Is] one making wealth, and not by right, In the midst of his days he does forsake it, And in his latter end--he is a fool."

²⁴ And he shouting, said, 'Father Abraham, be merciful to me, and send Lazarus that he should be dipping the tip of his finger in water and cooling my tongue, for I am pained in this flame.'" ²⁵ Now Abraham said, 'Child, be reminded that you got your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise evil things. Yet now here he is being consoled, yet you are in pain."

² and Yahweh sends against him the troops of the Chaldeans, and the troops of Aram, and the troops of Moab, and the troops of the sons of Ammon, and He sends them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Yahweh, that He spoke by the hand of His servants the prophets;"

¹⁵ when the Sabeans swooped down and took them. Then they smote the lads with the edge of the sword, yet I escaped, but I myself alone, to tell it to you.

¹⁷ This one was still speaking when another came and said, The Chaldeans, they formed three bands, and they emerged on the camels and took them. Then they smote the lads with the edge of the sword, yet I escaped, but I myself alone, to tell it to you.

¹⁷ There the wicked leave off all disturbance, And there those wearied from vigor are resting.

¹¹ El surrenders me over to an iniquitous man, And He precipitates me into the hands of the wicked.

⁷ The steps of his virility shall become constricted, And his own counsel shall fling him down.

⁵ Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my transient lifetime is as nothing in front of You. Yea, all of humanity, standing up, is altogether a transitory breath. {Interlude{ "

¹⁸ And I hated all my toil that I was toiling under the sun, That I would leave to the man who shall come after me." ¹⁹ Who knows if he shall be a wise or a frivolous man? Yet he shall have authority over all the fruit of my toil that I toiled, And in which I was wise under the sun; This too is vanity." ²⁰ So I turned around again with despair in my heart Over all the toil that I had toiled under the sun.

⁶ Among a nation polluted will I send him. And against a people, object of My rage, will I instruct him. To loot loot and to plunder plunder, and to place them for tramping, as the clay of the streets."

⁷ As much as she glorifies herself and indulges, so much torment and mourning be giving her, for she is saying in her heart, 'I am sitting a queen, and am no widow, and mourning I may by no means see.'"

²⁴ And Yahweh rains on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulphur and fire from Yahweh, from the heavens.

²³ So Moses stretched out his rod to the heavens, and Yahweh, He gave thundering sounds and hail, and fire ran earthward. Thus Yahweh rained hail over the land of Egypt.

³³ The flesh was still between their teeth, ere it was cut off, when the anger of Yahweh grew hot against the people; and Yahweh smote among the people with a very great smiting.

⁶ Let Him rain coals of fire and sulfur on the wicked, And let a simoon wind be the assigned portion of their cup.

³⁰ Yet they were not alienated from their yearning; Their food was still in their mouth, ³¹ When the anger of Elohim ascended against them; He killed the stoutest of them, And the choice ones of Israel He cut off."

⁴ My heart has strayed; shuddering frightens me. The soul to which I am attached brings me into trembling.

¹⁷ And he reasoned in himself, saying, 'What shall I be doing, seeing that I have no where to gather my fruits?'" ¹⁸ And he said, 'This will I be doing: I will pull down my barns, and greater ones will I build, and I will gather there all my grain and my good things." ¹⁹ And I will be declaring to my soul, "Soul, many good things have you laid up for many years. Rest, eat, drink, make merry."'" ²⁰ Yet God said to him, 'Imprudent one! In this night your soul are they demanding from you. Now, what you make ready, whose will it be?'"

³⁵ Teaching my hands for battle, And brought down was a bow of brass by mine arms,

³⁰ And those left flee to Aphek, unto the city, and the wall falls on twenty and seven chief men who are left, and Ben-Hadad has fled, and comes in unto the city, into the innermost part.

²³ Until an arrow thrusts through his liver, As through a bird that hastened to the snare When it did not know that it was set for its soul."

¹⁸ And it comes that the one fleeing from the awful sound shall fall into the pit. And the ascender from the midst of the pit shall be seized in a snare. For the crevices of the heights are opened, and the foundations of the earth shall quake."

⁴³ Fear, and a snare, and a gin, [are] for you, O inhabitant of Moab--an affirmation of Yahweh, ⁴⁴ Whoso is fleeing because of the fear falls into the snare, And whoso is coming up from the snare is captured by the gin, For I bring in unto her--unto Moab--The year of their inspection, An affirmation of Yahweh."

¹⁹ just as a man is fleeing from the face of the lion, and the bear comes on him, and he enters the house and supports his hand on the sidewall, and the serpent bites him."

¹ I see Yahweh stationed over the altar, and He is saying, Smite the sphere-like capital, and the thresholds will quake; clip them at the head, all of them, and I will kill the hindmost of them with the sword. He shall not flee with those who are fleeing, and he shall not escape with those who are delivered." ² If they are burrowing into the unseen, thence My hand will take them. And if they are ascending to the heavens, thence will I bring them down." ³ And if they are hiding in the summit of Carmel, thence will I search and take them. And if they are concealed from in front of My eyes on the floor of the sea, thence will I instruct the serpent, and it will bite them."

⁴¹ when I whet My flashing sword and My hand lays hold on judgment, I shall return vengeance to My foes, and to My haters shall I make repayment.

¹⁴ And Joab said, `Not right--I tarry before you;' and he takes three darts in his hand, and strikes them into the heart of Absalom, while he [is] alive, in the midst of the oak.

⁴ For the arrows of Him Who Suffices are in me; Their venom is what my spirit has been drinking; Frightenings from Eloah are arrayed against me.

²¹ The sound of alarming things is in his ears; When at peace, the devastator comes against him.

¹³ His multitudes surround me; He splits open my innermost being and does not spare; He pours out my bile on the earth.

¹¹ Decadent things frighten him round about, And they hound him at his every footstep.

²⁰ Decadent things shall overtake him by day; A whirlwind shall steal him away at night.

¹² If he does not turn back, He shall hone His sword; He has positioned His bow and is preparing it.

¹⁹ How they will become a desolation, as in a moment! They will be swept up; they will be finished by decadence!"

¹⁵ From my youth have I been humbled and wearied unto death; I have borne the dread of You; I am distracted.

³ and it comes to pass on the morrow, that Pashhur brings out Jeremiah from the stocks, and Jeremiah said unto him, `Not Pashhur has Yahweh called your name, but--Magor-Missabib." ⁴ For thus said Yahweh:Lo, I am making you for a fear to yourself, And to all loving you, And they have fallen by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes are beholding, And all Judah I give into the hand of the king of Babylon, And he has removed them to Babylon, And he has smitten them with the sword."

¹¹ Being aware, then, of the fear of the Lord, we are persuading men, yet we are manifest to God. Now I am expecting to be manifest in your consciences also."

¹⁸ They shall thrust him from light into darkness, And they shall chase him from the habitance. ¹⁹ For him there is no posterity and no progeny among his people, And there will be no survivor in the places of his sojourning.

⁹ You shall make them like a fiery stove in the era of Your presence. Yahweh shall swallow them up in His anger, And fire shall devour them."

⁹ May his sons become orphans, And his wife a widow." ¹⁰ May his sons rove, yea rove so that they must beg, And may they be driven out from their deserted homes." ¹¹ May the creditor confiscate all that he has, And may aliens plunder the fruit of his labor." ¹² There must not be anyone being indulgent with kindness to him, And there must not be anyone showing grace to his orphans." ¹³ May his posterity be cut off; In the generation following, may his name be wiped out." ¹⁴ May the depravity of his fathers be remembered before Yahweh, And the sin of his mother, let it not be wiped out." ¹⁵ Let these be in front of Yahweh continually, And let their family's remembrance be cut off from the earth,

⁴ He will send arrows of the masterful, whetted With glowing embers of broom!"

²² and beneath to the earth it will look, then behold! Distress and darkness, faintness of constraint, and the gloom of expulsion!"

²⁰ You shall not unite with them in the tomb, "For you ruined My land, you killed My people. You shall not be proclaimed for the eon, you seed of evil doers!" ²¹ Prepare a slaughter for his sons, for the depravity of their fathers. They will fail to rise and tenant the earth, and fill the surface of the habitance with cities." ²² And I rise against them,averring is Yahweh of hosts. "And I cut off from Babylon the name and remnant, and propagator and progeny,averring is Yahweh."

³³ for arranged since yesterday was the pyre. Moreover it is prepared, yea prepared, for the king, He deepens, He widens its abode for fire and much wood. The breath of Yahweh, as a watercourse of sulphur, is consuming in it."

¹² Whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will be scouring His threshing floor, and will be gathering His grain into His barn, yet the chaff will He be burning up with unextinguished fire."

¹² yet the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness. There shall be lamentation and gnashing of teeth."

¹³ wild billows of the sea, frothing forth their own shame; straying stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept for an eon."

²⁸ Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your superintendents, and let me speak in their ears all these words, and let me summon the heavens and the earth to testify against them.

¹⁸ O earth, do not cover my blood, And let there be no place for my outcry to rest.

²⁰ If we had forgotten the Name of our Elohim And spread out our palms to an alien el, ²¹ Would not Elohim Himself investigate this? For He is knowing the obscured secrets of the heart.

²¹ For, behold Yahweh faring forth from His holy place to visit the depravity of the earth's dweller upon it. And its blood is exposed by the earth, and no longer shall it cover over its killed."

²³ Because that they have done folly in Israel, and commit adultery with the wives of their neighbors, and speak a word in My name falsely that I have not commanded them, and I [am] He who knows and a witness--an affirmation of Yahweh."

⁵ Then I will come near to you for judgment, and become a hastening witness against the enchanters and against the adulterers, and against those who are swearing in My name to falsehood, and against those extorting the hire of the hireling, and those tyrannizing over the widow and taunting the orphan, and turning aside the sojourner, and do not fear Me, says Yahweh of hosts."

² Now nothing is covered up which shall not be revealed, and hidden which shall not be known, ³ because whatever you say in the darkness shall be heard in the light, and what you speak in the ear in the storerooms shall be heralded on the housetops."

¹⁶ in the day when God will be judging the hidden things of humanity, according to my evangel, through Jesus Christ."

⁵ So that, be not judging anything before the season, till the Lord should be coming, Who will also illuminate the hidden things of darkness and manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then applause will be coming to each one from God."

³¹ Your bull shall be slaughtered before your eyes, yet you shall not eat of it. Your donkey shall be snatched from before you, yet it shall not return to you. Your flock shall be given to your enemies, yet there will be no saviour for you.

¹⁷ Lo, days are coming, and borne has been all that [is] in your house, and that your father have treasured up till this day, to Babylon; there is not left a thing, said Yahweh;"

⁵ His harvest, the hungry one shall eat, And he shall take it away to secluded places; Those thirsting will gasp for their estate.

¹⁸ He must return the fruit of his labor and not swallow it down, And in the estate of his commerce, he has no enjoyment. ¹⁹ For he has maltreated, he has forsaken the poor; He has pillaged a house which he did not build. ²⁰ For he has not known ease from the craving of his belly; From his coveting, he has not tried to escape. ²¹ There was nothing surviving for him as food. Therefore his good state cannot hope to last. ²² When his affluence is full there shall be distress for him; Every means of misery shall come upon him.

³⁰ That the evil one is kept back in the day of calamity; In the day of rage they are escorted safely?

¹⁴ However many are his sons, for them is the sword, And his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ With the death plague they shall entomb his survivors, And his widows shall not lament. ¹⁶ If he piles up silver like soil And makes ready clothing like clay, ¹⁷ He shall make it ready, yet the righteous one shall put it on, And the innocent one shall apportion the silver. ¹⁸ He builds his house like a moth's cocoon, And like a booth that a field-keeper makes. ¹⁹ He shall lie down rich, yet he may not do so again; When he uncloses his eyes it shall not be there.

⁴ Wealth is no benefit in the day of rage, Yet righteousness shall rescue from death."

¹⁸ Moreover, their silver and their gold, will not be able to rescue them in the day of the rage of Yahweh; and by the fire of His jealousy the entire land shall be devoured; for a finish, yea, a hustled one, shall He make of all dwelling in the land."

²⁶ For the Son of Mankind is about to be coming in the glory of His Father, with His messengers, and then He will be paying each in accord with his practice."

¹ Come now, you rich, lament, howling for your wretchedness which is coming on you! " ² Your riches have rotted and your garments have become food for moths. ³ Your gold and silver corrode and their venom will be for a testimony against you, and the venom will be eating your flesh as fire. You hoard in the last days."

¹⁷ for in one hour was desolated so much riches!' "And every navigator, and every one who is sailing at the place, and mariners and whoever are working on the sea, stand afar off,

²⁰ Yahweh shall not be willing to pardon him, because then Yahweh's anger and His jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the imprecation that is written in this scroll will lie on him. Yahweh will wipe out his name from under the heavens;" ²¹ and Yahweh will separate him from all the tribes of Israel for the evil visitation according to all the imprecations of the covenant that is written in this scroll of the law. ²² The latter generation of your sons who shall rise after you and the foreigner who shall come from a country afar will ask, when they see the smitings of that land of yours and its ailments with which Yahweh has made it ill-. ²³ its whole land a burnt waste of sulfur and salt; it shall not be sown, neither shall it sprout, nor shall any herbage ascend in it, like the overturning of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overturned in His anger and in His fury-. ²⁴ hence all the nations will ask:Why did Yahweh do thus to this land? Why the heat of this great anger? ²⁵ Then some will answer:Because they forsook the covenant of Yahweh Elohim of their fathers, that He had contracted with them when He brought them forth from the country of Egypt, ²⁶ for they went off and served other elohim and bowed themselves down to them, elohim whom they had neither known, nor had He apportioned for them. ²⁷ Hence the anger of Yahweh grew hot against that land so as to bring upon it all the malediction that is written in this scroll. ²⁸ So Yahweh plucked them up off their ground in anger, in fury and in great wrath, and He flung them into another country as it is this day.

²¹ Surely these were the tabernacles of an iniquitous man, And this was the place of one who knew not El.

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked person from El And the allotment terrifiers procure from Him Who Suffices.

² Yet what is the portion of Eloah from above, And the allotment of Him Who Suffices from the heights? ³ Should not calamity be for the iniquitous, And disaster for contrivers of lawlessness?

⁵ Yahweh is testing the righteous one, Yet His soul hates the wicked one and the one loving wrong. ⁶ Let Him rain coals of fire and sulfur on the wicked, And let a simoon wind be the assigned portion of their cup.

³⁸ Do not both the evil and the good come forth from the mouth of the Supreme?

⁵¹ and shall be cutting him asunder, and will be appointing his part with the hypocrites. There shall be lamentation and gnashing of teeth."
