⁶ I have given attention, yea, I hearken, They do not speak right, No man has repented of his wickedness, Saying, What have I done? Every one has turned to his courses, As a horse is rushing into battle."

² I shall say to Eloah, O do not condemn me! Let me know for what reason You contend with me!"

²⁷ He shall sing before mortals and say, I have sinned and depraved what is upright, Yet He did not compensate it fully to me. ²⁸ He ransomed my soul from passing into the pit, And my life is seeing the light.

¹⁹ Do you give to the horse its mastery? Do you clothe its neck with thunder? ²⁰ Do you make him quake like the locust? The splendor of his snorting strikes dread. ²¹ He paws in the vale and is elated in his vigor; He goes forth to meet the weapons of battle. ²² He makes sport of alarm and is not dismayed; Neither does he turn back because of the sword. ²³ On him the quiver jubilates, The blaze of spear and scimitar. ²⁴ With quaking and thunderous sound, he gulps up the earth, And he cannot believe the sound of the trumpet. ²⁵ As soon as the trumpet sounds, he shouts, Aha! And from afar he smells the battle, The thunder of the chiefs and the shouting!"

² Yahweh, He gazes down from the heavens on the sons of humanity, To see whether there is anyone acting intelligently, Anyone seeking after Elohim."

¹⁸ Wherefore Yahweh is tarrying, to be gracious to you; wherefore He is exalting Himself to show compassion to you. For an Elohim of judgment is Yahweh, and where are you leaving your glory? Happy are all tarrying for him!"

¹⁶ And He is seeing that there is no man, and He is dejected that there is no intercessor. Yet His arm will save for Him, and His righteousness, it supports Him."

²⁴ A wild ass accustomed to a wilderness, In the desire of her soul she has swallowed up wind, Her meeting--who does turn her back? None seeking her do weary themselves, In her month they find her." ²⁵ Withhold your foot from being unshod, And your throat from thirst, And you say, `It is incurable, No, for I have loved strangers, and after them I go.'"

¹ Go to and fro in streets of Jerusalem, And see, I pray you, and know, And seek in her broad places, if you find a man, If there be one doing judgment, seeking stedfastness--Then am I propitious to her."

²⁸ And he sees and turns back, From all his transgressions that he has done, He does surely live, he does not die,

³⁰ And I seek of them a man making a fence, And standing in the breach before Me, In behalf of the land--not to destroy it, And I have not found."

² The kindly one has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among humanity. All of them are ambushing for blood; each man is hunting his brother with a seine net."

¹⁶ Then those that fear Yahweh speak, each to his associate. And Yahweh is attending, and He is hearing. And a memorial scroll is written before Him, of the fearers of Yahweh, and of those reckoning His name."

¹⁷ Now, coming to himself, he averred, 'How many of my father's hired men are being cloyed with bread, yet I am perishing here of famine!" ¹⁸ Rising, I will go to my father and declare to him, "Father, I sinned against heaven and in your sight." ¹⁹ No longer am I worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired men."'"

⁹ The Lord is not tardy as to the promise, as some are deeming tardiness, but is patient because of you, not intending any to perish, but all to make room for repentance."

²⁰ And the rest of mankind, who were not killed in these calamities, repent not of the acts of their hands- that they will not be worshiping the demons and idols of gold and silver and copper and stone and wood, which are neither able to be observing nor to be hearing nor to be walking-."
