¹¹ Yelling over the wine is in the streets; the eventide is it for all rejoicing. Deported is all the elation of the land.

⁶ Give intoxicant to him who is perishing, And wine to those bitter of soul."

²² and beneath to the earth it will look, then behold! Distress and darkness, faintness of constraint, and the gloom of expulsion!"

¹⁹ By the hot rage of Yahweh of hosts is all the land incinerated, and the people are coming to be as fuel for the fire. A man his brother shall not spare."

¹⁰ And gathered is rejoicing and exultation from the crop land. And in the vineyards is no jubilating, and no shouting. Wine in the wine vats the treader is not treading. The whooping I cause to cease."

⁷ Mournful is the grape juice; enfeebled is the vine. Sigh does every rejoicing heart. ⁸ Cease does the elation of tambourines. Left off is the tumult of the joyous. Cease does the elation of the harp. ⁹ Ashamed, they are drinking no wine. And the intoxicant is bitter to its drinkers."

¹³ over the ground of My people where thorn and buckthorn are coming up, over all the houses of elation, of the joyous town."

³³ And removed has been joy and gladness From the fruitful field, Even from the land of Moab, And wine from wine-presses I have caused to cease, Shouting does not proceed, The shouting [is] no shouting!"

¹⁴ Elders have ceased from the gateway, choice youth from their accompaniment of song." ¹⁵ The elation of our heart has ceased; our fluting is turned to mourning.

¹⁴ And they do not cry out to Me with their heart, for they are howling on their beds; over grain and grape juice they are stirring themselves up; they are withdrawing from Me."

¹⁵ Alas! Alas! Alas for the day! For near is the day of Yahweh. And as devastation from Him Who-Suffices is it coming.

¹⁶ Wherefore, thus says Yahweh, Elohim of hosts, my Lord, In all the squares shall be wailing, and in all streets they shall say, Woe! Woe! And they shall call the farmer to mourning, and waling to those who know plaint making." ¹⁷ And in all vineyards shall be wailing, for I shall pass within you, says Yahweh." ¹⁸ Woe to those yearning for the day of Yahweh! Why will this be a day of Yahweh for you? It will be darkness, and not light, ¹⁹ just as a man is fleeing from the face of the lion, and the bear comes on him, and he enters the house and supports his hand on the sidewall, and the serpent bites him." ²⁰ Shall not the day of Yahweh be darkness, and not light? And gloom, and no brightness to it?

¹¹ Now the king, entering to gaze at those lying back at table, perceived there a man who has not put on wedding apparel." ¹² And he is saying to him, 'Comrade, how did you enter here having no wedding apparel?' Yet he was still." ¹³ Then the king said to the servants, 'Binding his feet and hands, cast him out into outer darkness.' There shall be lamentation and gnashing of teeth."

²⁵ Now Abraham said, 'Child, be reminded that you got your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise evil things. Yet now here he is being consoled, yet you are in pain."
