¹ And the days are many, and the word of Yahweh has been unto Elijah in the third year, saying, `Go, appear unto Ahab, and I give rain on the face of the ground;. <sup>2</sup> and Elijah goes to appear unto Ahab. And the famine is severe in Samaria, <sup>3</sup> and Ahab calls unto Obadiah, who [is] over the house--and Obadiah has been fearing Yahweh greatly, <sup>4</sup> and it comes to pass, in Jezebel's cutting off the prophets of Yahweh, that Obadiah takes a hundred prophets, and hides them, fifty men in a cave, and has sustained them with bread and water-. <sup>5</sup> and Ahab said unto Obadiah, `Go through the land, unto all fountains of waters, and unto all the brooks, if so be we find hay, and keep alive horse and mule, and do not cut off any of the cattle.. ⁶ And they apportion to themselves the land, to pass over into it; Ahab has gone in one way by himself, and Obadiah has gone in another way by himself;" ⁷ and Obadiah [is] in the way, and lo, Elijah--to meet him; and he discerns him, and falls on his face, and said, `Are you he--my lord Elijah?. <sup>8</sup> And he said to him, `I [am]; go, say to your lord, Lo, Elijah.. ⁹ And he said, `What have I sinned, that you are giving your servant into the hand of Ahab--to put me to death? <sup>10</sup> Yahweh your Elohim lives, if there is a nation and kingdom whither my lord has not sent to seek you; and they said, He is not, then he caused the kingdom and the nation to swear, that it does not find you;" <sup>11</sup> and now, you are saying, Go, say to your lord, Lo, Elijah;" <sup>12</sup> and it has been, I go from you, and the Spirit of Yahweh does lift you up, whither I know not, and I have come to declare to Ahab, and he does not find you, and he has slain me; and your servant is fearing Yahweh from my youth. <sup>13</sup> `Has it not been declared to my lord that which I have done in Jezebel's slaying the prophets of Yahweh, that I hide of the prophets of Yahweh a hundred men, fifty by fifty in a cave, and sustained them with bread and water? ¹⁴ and now you are saying, Go, say to my lord, Lo, Elijah--and he has slain me!. ¹⁵ And Elijah said, `Yahweh of Hosts lives, before whom I have stood, surely to-day I appear unto him.. <sup>16</sup> And Obadiah goes to meet Ahab, and declares [it] to him, and Ahab goes to meet Elijah, <sup>17</sup> and it comes to pass at Ahab's seeing Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, `Are you he--the troubler of Israel?. ¹⁸ And he said, `I have not troubled Israel, but you and the house of your father, in your forsaking the commands of Yahweh, and you go after the Baalim;" <sup>19</sup> and now, send, gather unto me all Israel, unto the mount of Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the shrine, four hundred--eating at the table of Jezebel.. <sup>20</sup> And Ahab sends among all the sons of Israel, and gathers the prophets unto the mount of Carmel;" <sup>21</sup> and Elijah comes nigh unto all the people, and said, `Till when are you leaping on the two branches? --if Yahweh [is] Elohim, go after Him; and if Baal, go after him;' and the people have not answered him a word. ²² And Elijah said unto the people, `I--I have been left a prophet of Yahweh--by myself; and the prophets of Baal [are] four hundred and fifty men;" <sup>23</sup> and let them give to us two bullocks, and they choose for themselves the one bullock, and cut it in pieces, and place [it] on the wood, and place no fire; and I--I prepare the other bullock, and have put [it] on the wood, and fire I do not place; -. <sup>24</sup> and you have called in the name of your elohim, and I--I call in the name of Yahweh, and it has been, the elohim who answers by fire--He [is] the Elohim.' And all the people answer and say, `Good [is] the word.. ²⁵ And Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, `Choose for you the one bullock, and prepare first, for you [are] the multitude, and call you in the name of your elohim, and place no fire.. <sup>26</sup> And they take the bullock that [one] gave to them, and prepare, and call in the name of Baal from the morning even till the noon, saying, `O Baal, answer us!' and there is no voice, and there is none answering; and they leap on the altar that one had made. ²⁷ And it comes to pass, at noon, that Elijah plays on them, and said, `Call with a loud voice, for he [is] an elohim, for he is meditating, or pursuing, or on a journey; it may be he is asleep, an does awake.. <sup>28</sup> And they call with a loud voice, and cut themselves, according to their ordinance, with swords and with spears, till a flowing of blood [is] on them;" <sup>29</sup> and it comes to pass, at the passing by of the noon, that they feign themselves prophets till the going up of the present, and there is no voice, and there is none answering, and there is none attending. <sup>30</sup> And Elijah said to all the people, `Come nigh unto me;' and all the people come nigh unto him, and he repairs the altar of Yahweh that is broken down;" ³¹ and Elijah takes twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of Yahweh was, saying, `Israel is your name;. <sup>32</sup> and he builds with the stones an altar, in the name of Yahweh, and makes a trench, as about the space of two measures of seed, round about the altar. <sup>33</sup> And he arranges the wood, and cuts in pieces the bullock, and places [it] on the wood, and said, `Fill you four pitchers of water, and pour on the burnt-offering, and on the wood;" ³⁴ and he said, `Do [it] a second time;' and they do [it] a second time; and he said, `Do [it] a third time;' and they do [it] a third time;" ³⁵ and the water goes round about the altar, and also, the trench he has filled with water. ³⁶ And it comes to pass, at the going up of the [evening -]present, that Elijah the prophet comes nigh and said, `Yahweh, Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, to-day let it be known that You [are] Elohim in Israel, and I Your servant, that by Your word I have done the whole of these things;" <sup>37</sup> answer me, O Yahweh, answer me, and this people does know that You [are] Yahweh Elohim; and You have turned their heart backward.. <sup>38</sup> And there falls a fire of Yahweh, and consumes the burnt-offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and the water that [is] in the trench it has licked up. <sup>39</sup> And all the people see, and fall on their faces, and say, `Yahweh, He [is] the Elohim, Yahweh, He [is] the Elohim.. ⁴⁰ And Elijah said to them, `Catch you the prophets of Baal; let not a man escape of them;' and they catch them, and Elijah brings them down unto the stream Kishon, and does slaughter them there. <sup>41</sup> And Elijah said to Ahab, `Go up, eat and drink, because of the sound of the noise of the shower.. ⁴² And Ahab goes up to eat, and to drink, and Elijah has gone up unto the top of Carmel, and he stretches himself out on the earth, and he places his face between his knees, ⁴³ and said unto his young man, `Go up, I pray you, look attentively the way of the sea;' and he goes up and looks attentively, and said, `There is nothing;' and he said, `Turn back,' seven times. <sup>44</sup> And it comes to pass, at the seventh, that he said, `Lo, a little thickness as the palm of a man is coming up out of the sea.' And he said, `Go up, say unto Ahab, `Bind--and go down, and the shower does not restrain you.. ⁴⁵ And it comes to pass, in the meantime, that the heavens have become black--thick clouds and wind--and the shower is great; and Ahab rides, and goes to Jezreel, ⁴⁶ and the hand of Yahweh has been on Elijah, and he girds up his loins, and runs before Ahab, till your entering Jezreel.

¹ And finished are the heavens and the earth and all their host.

¹⁷ When the sun comes to set, and twilight comes, then, behold, a smoking stove, and a torch of fire which passes between these severed parts.

² And lifting is he his eyes and seeing, and behold! Three mortals are stationed by him. And seeing is he and running to meet them from the opening of the tent, and is prostrating to the earth.

¹² And laughing is Sarah within herself saying, "After my decadence shall luxury come to me? It has not come to me till now. My lord also is old.

⁴ And Abimelech comes not near to her. And saying is he, "Yahweh, a nation, moreover, unknowing and just, are you killing? ⁵ Said not he to me, `My sister is she'? And she, moreover, said, `My brother is he.' In the sincerity of my heart and in the innocency of my palms, I did this.

⁹ And going are they, they two, together. And coming are they to the place of which the Elohim had apprized him. And building is Abraham the altar there, and is arranging the wood. And trussing is he Isaac, his son, and placing him on the altar, above the wood.

¹² And saying is he, "You must not stretch out your hand on the lad, and you must not do aught to him, for now I know that you fear the Elohim, for you have not kept back your son, your only one from Me.

² And saying is Abraham to his servant, the oldest of his household, the ruler over all that is his, "Pray place your hand under my thigh,

¹⁰ And taking is the servant ten camels from the camels of his lord, and is going. And all manner of good things of his lord are in his hand. And rising is he and going to Syria of the streams, to the city of Nahor.

⁵⁰ And answering are Laban and Bethuel and saying, "From Yahweh fares forth this matter. We cannot speak to you evil or good.

⁵² And coming is it, as Abraham's servant hears their words, that he is prostrating to the earth to Yahweh.

²⁴ And appearing to him is Yahweh in that night, and saying, "I am the Elohim of Abraham your father. You must not fear, for with you am I. And bless you will I, and increase will I your seed for the sake of Abraham your father, My servant.

⁵³ The Elohim of Abraham and the Elohim of Nahor, the Elohim of the forefathers, shall judge between us.And swearing is Jacob by the Awe of his father Isaac.

⁹ And saying is Jacob, "Elohim of my forefather Abraham and Elohim of my father Isaac, Yahweh Who said to me, `Return to your land and to your kindred and I will do good to you..

²⁴ And left is Jacob alone. And wrestling is a Man with him till the ascending of the dawn.

²⁶ And saying is He to him, "Send Me away, for the dawn ascends.And saying is he, "Not letting You go am I save You bless me.

²⁸ And saying is He to him, "Not Jacob shall your name be called longer, but rather Israel is your name. For upright are you with the Elohim and with mortals, and are prevailing.

²⁰ And setting up is he there an altar, and calling on El-Elohim-Ishral.

¹⁰ And saying to him is the Elohim, "Your name is Jacob. No longer is your name to be called Jacob, but rather Israel is coming to be your name.And calling is He his name Israel.

⁴ And finding is Joseph grace in the eyes of his lord, and ministering is he to him. And making him is he supervisor over his household, and all, forsooth, which is his he gives into Joseph's hand. ⁵ And coming is it, since he makes him supervisor in his house and over all, forsooth, that is his, that Yahweh is blessing the Egyptian's household due to Joseph, and coming is Yahweh's blessing to be over all, forsooth, which is his, in the house and in the field.

⁹ No one is greater in this house than I, and he has not kept back aught from me save you, in that you are his wife. And how shall I do this great evil and sin against the Elohim?

⁴⁰ You shall be over my household, and at your bidding all my people shall bear weapons. But on the throne will I be greater than you.

¹⁸ And saying to them is Joseph on the third day, "This do and live. The Elohim fear I.

¹⁶ And saying is Judah, "What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? And with what shall we justify ourselves? The Elohim has found the depravity of your servants. Behold us, servants of my lord, both we and he in whose hand the beaker was found.

²⁰ And said we to my lord, `Forsooth, we have a father, old, and a boy of his old age, the small and his brother is dead, and left is he alone of his mother, and his father loves him.

³³ And now, dwell, pray, will your servant, instead of the youth, a servant to my lord, and the youth shall go up with his brothers.

³ And saying is He, "I am the El, the Elohim of your forefather. You must not fear to go down to Egypt, for a great nation will I constitute you there.

¹⁸ And going are his brothers, moreover, and falling before him. And saying are they, "Behold us yours for servants.

⁶ And He said: I am the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac and the Elohim of Jacob. Now Moses concealed his face, for he feared to look toward the One, Elohim.

¹⁵ And Elohim said further to Moses: Thus shall you say to the sons of Israel, Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac and the Elohim of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name for the eon, and this the remembrance of Me for generation after generation. ¹⁶ Go, and you will gather the elders of the sons of Israel and say to them, Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, appeared to me, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, I have noticed, yea noticed you and what is being done to you in Egypt.

¹ Afterward Moses and Aaron entered and said to Pharaoh: Thus says Yahweh the Elohim of Israel, Dismiss My people that they may celebrate to Me in the wilderness. ² Yet Pharaoh said: Who is Yahweh to Whose voice I should hearken to dismiss Israel? I do not know Yahweh! And, moreover, Israel I shall not dismiss.

²¹ They said to them: May Yahweh see you, and may He judge since you have caused our scent to stink in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants, giving a sword into their hands to kill us.

²⁴ An altar of ground soil shall you make for Me, and you will sacrifice on it your ascent offerings and your peace offerings, your flock and your herd. In every place where I shall record My name I shall come to you and will bless you. ²⁵ And if you shall make an altar of stones for Me you shall not build it with them trimmed; in case you have swung your sword against it, then you have profaned it.

⁴ Now Moses wrote all the words of Yahweh. And he rose early in the morning and built an altar below the mountain and twelve stone monuments for the twelve tribes of Israel.

³⁹ The one he-lamb shall you offer in the morning, and the second he-lamb shall you offer between the evening hours,

⁶ Then he will flay the ascent offering and piece it into its pieces, ⁷ while the sons of Aaron, the priests, put fire on the altar and arrange the wood on the fire. ⁸ The sons of Aaron, the priests, will arrange the pieces with the head and the suet over the wood on the fire which is on the altar,

²⁴ fire came forth from before Yahweh, and it devoured the ascent offering and the fat portions on the altar. When all the people saw it, they were jubilant and fell on their faces.

² Hence fire came forth from before Yahweh and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.

²⁸ You shall not put a laceration in your flesh for a deceased soul; you shall not put a tattoo writing on yourself:I, Yahweh, am your Elohim.

⁴ then I will give your downpours in their season, and the land will give its crop, and the tree of the field shall give its fruit.

²⁶ When I break the stock of bread for you then ten women will bake your bread in one stove and return your bread by weight so that you will eat and not be satisfied.

¹¹ Aaron said to Moses, O! my lord, do not, I pray, set against us the sin in which we were foolish and with which we have sinned.

²⁸ Moses said:By this shall you know that Yahweh has sent me to perform all these deeds, that they are not from my own heart. ²⁹ Should these die the common death of all humanity, and should the visitation of all humanity be visited on them, then Yahweh has not sent me. ³⁰ Yet should Yahweh create an unprecedented creation so that the ground opens wide its mouth, swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they descend alive to the unseen, then you will know that these mortals have spurned Yahweh.

⁸ He came after the man of Israel to the alcove and stabbed the two of them, the man of Israel and the woman, into her pelvis. Then the stroke was restrained from the sons of Israel.

³⁸ Joshua son of Nun, who is standing before you, he shall enter there. Encourage him, for he shall allot it to Israel.

¹⁹ Guard yourselves lest you should lift up your eyes toward the heavens, and you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of the heavens, and be induced to bow yourself down to them and serve them, which Yahweh your Elohim has apportioned to all other peoples beneath the entire heavens.

³⁵ You were shown this to know that Yahweh, He is the only Elohim. There is no one else aside from Him.

⁵ Then that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death because he spoke of defection from Yahweh your Elohim (the One bringing you forth from the country of Egypt and the One ransoming you from the house of servants) so as to induce you from the way in which Yahweh your Elohim has instructed you to walk. Hence eradicate the evil from among you.

¹ Sons are you to Yahweh your Elohim; you shall neither slash yourselves nor make a baldness between your eyes for a dead one,

²⁰ But the prophet who shall act arrogantly by speaking a word in My name which I did not instruct him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other elohim, that prophet must die.

¹² Yahweh shall open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless every work of your hand. You will obligate many nations, yet you shall not borrow.

²³ Your heavens that are over your head will come to be as copper, and the earth that is beneath you as iron. ²⁴ Yahweh shall make the rain of your land to be dust and soil-drifts; from the heavens it shall descend on you until you are exterminated.

³ and command you them, saying, Take up for you from this [place], from the midst of the Jordan, from the established standing-place of the feet of the priests, twelve stones, and you have removed them over with you, and placed them in the lodging-place in which you lodge to-night.. ⁴ And Joshua calls unto the twelve men whom he prepared out of the sons of Israel, one man--one man out of a tribe;"

²⁰ and these twelve stones, which they have taken out of the Jordan, has Joshua raised up in Gilgal.

⁶ And Joshua rends his garments, and falls on his face to the earth before the ark of Yahweh till the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and they cause dust to go up on their head.

²⁵ And Joshua said, `What! you have troubled us! --Yahweh does trouble you this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones,

¹⁶ And the sons of Joseph say, `The hill is not found to us, and a chariot of iron [is] with every Canaanite who is dwelling in the land of the valley--to him who [is] in Beth-Shean and its towns, and to him who [is] in the valley of Jezreel..

¹⁸ and their border is [at] Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,

²⁶ and Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and it touches against Carmel westward, and against Shihor-Libnath;"

¹⁵ and if wrong in your eyes to serve Yahweh--choose for you to-day whom you do serve; --whether the elohims whom your fathers served, which [are] beyond the River, or the elohims of the Amorite in whose land you are dwelling; and I and my house--we serve Yahweh..

²³ and, now, turn aside the elohims of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and incline your heart unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel.. ²⁴ And the people say unto Joshua, `Yahweh our Elohim we serve, and to His voice we hearken..

⁷ and I have drawn unto you, unto the brook Kishon, Sisera, head of the host of Jabin, and his chariot, and his multitude, and have given him into your hand..

²¹ The brook Kishon swept them away, The brook most ancient--the brook Kishon. You do tread down strength, O my soul!"

²⁰ And the messenger of Elohim said unto him, `Take the flesh and the unleavened things, and place on this rock--and the broth pour out;' and he does so. ²¹ And the messenger of Yahweh puts forth the end of the staff which [is] in His hand, and comes against the flesh, and against the unleavened things, and the fire goes up out of the rock and consumes the flesh and the unleavened things--and the messenger of Yahweh has gone from his eyes.

²⁶ and you have built an altar to Yahweh your Elohim on the top of this stronghold, by the arrangement, and have taken the second bullock, and caused to ascend a burnt-offering with the wood of the shrine which you cut down..

²⁰ and it comes to pass, in the going up of the flame from off the altar toward the heavens, that the messenger of Yahweh goes up in the flame of the altar, and Manoah and his wife are looking on, and they fall on their faces to the earth,

⁴ And it comes to pass on the morrow, that the people rise early, and build there an altar, and cause to ascend burnt-offerings and peace-offerings.

¹⁸ And Samuel is ministering [in] the presence of Yahweh, a youth girt [with] an ephod of linen;"

²⁶ And the youth Samuel is going on and growing up, and [is] good both with Yahweh, and also with men.

¹⁹ And Samuel grows up, and Yahweh has been with him, and has not let fall any of his words to the earth;" ²⁰ and all Israel know, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, that Samuel is established for a prophet to Yahweh.

⁷ `And now, take and make one new cart, and two suckling kine, on which a yoke has not gone up, and you have bound the kine in the cart, and caused their young ones to turn back from after them to the house,

¹⁰ And the men do so, and take two suckling kine, and bind them in the cart, and their young ones they have shut up in the house;"

³ And Samuel speaks unto all the house of Israel, saying, `If with all your heart you are turning back unto Yahweh--turn aside the elohims of the stranger from your midst, and Ashtaroth; and prepare your heart unto Yahweh, and serve Him only, and He does deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines..

⁹ And Samuel takes a fat lamb, and causes it to go up--a burnt-offering whole to Yahweh; and Samuel cries unto Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answers him;"

¹⁷ and his returning [is] to Ramath, for there [is] his house, and there he has judged Israel, and he builds there an altar to Yahweh.

¹² And Samuel rises early to meet Saul in the morning, and it is declared to Samuel, saying, `Saul has come in to Carmel, and lo, he is setting up to himself a monument, and goes round, and passes over, and goes down to Gilgal..

⁴⁶ This day does Yahweh shut you up into my hand--and I have smitten you, and turned aside your head from off you, and given the carcase of the camp of the Philistines this day to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth, and all the earth do know that Elohim is for Israel. ⁴⁷ and all this assembly do know that not by sword and by spear does Yahweh save, that the battle [is] Yahweh's, and He has given you into our hand..

¹⁰ And it comes to pass, on the morrow, that the spirit of sadness [from] Elohim prospers over Saul, and he prophesies in the midst of the house, and David is playing with his hand, as day by day, and the javelin [is] in the hand of Saul,

⁴¹ The youth has gone, and David has risen from Ezel, at the south, and falls on his face to the earth, and bows himself three times, and they kiss one another, and they weep one with another, till David exerted himself;"

¹¹ And the king sends to call Ahimelech son of Ahitub, the priest, and all the house of his father, the priests, who [are] in Nob, and they come all of them unto the king;" ¹² and Saul said, `Hear, I pray you, son of Ahitub;' and he said, `Here [am] I, my lord.. ¹³ And Saul said unto him, `Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, by your giving to him bread and a sword, and to ask for him at Elohim, to rise against me, to lie in wait, as [at] this day?. <sup>14</sup> And Ahimelech answers the king and said, `And who among all your servants [is] as David--faithful, and son-in-law of the king, and has turned aside unto your council, and is honored in your house? ¹⁵ To-day have I begun to ask for him at Elohim? far be it from me! let not the king lay anything against his servant, against any of the house of my father, for your servant has known nothing of all this, less or more.. ¹⁶ And the king said, `You do surely die, Ahimelech, you, and all the house of your father.. <sup>17</sup> And the king said to runners, those standing by him, `Turn round, and put to death the priests of Yahweh, because their hand also [is] with David, and because they have known that he is fleeing, and have not uncovered mine ear;' and the servants of the king have not been willing to put forth their hand to come against the priests of Yahweh. ¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, `Turn round you, and come against the priests;' and Doeg the Edomite turns round, and comes himself against the priests, and puts to death in that day eighty and five men bearing a linen ephod, ¹⁹ and Nob, the city of the priests, he has smitten by the mouth of the sword, from man even unto woman, from infant even unto suckling, and ox, and ass, and sheep, by the mouth of the sword.

⁶ And Achish calls unto David, and said unto him, `Yahweh lives, surely you [are] upright, and good in mine eyes is your going out, and your coming in, with me in the camp, for I have not found in you evil from the day of your coming in unto me till this day; and in the eyes of the princes you are not good;"

⁹ and causes him to reign over Gilead, and over the Ashurite, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over Israel--all of it.

¹⁶ and David seeks Elohim for the youth, and David keeps a fast, and has gone in and lodged, and lain on the earth.

¹⁹ And the king said, `Is the hand of Joab with you in all this?' And the woman answers and said, `Your soul lives, my lord, O king, none [does turn] to the right or to the left from all that my lord the king has spoken; for your servant Joab he commanded me, and he put in the mouth of your maid-servant all these words;"

¹⁸ And passed over has the ferry-boat to carry over the household of the king, and to do that which [is] good in his eyes, and Shimei son of Gera has fallen before the king in his passing over into Jordan,

¹⁴ and bury the bones of Saul and of Jonathan his son in the land of Benjamin, in Zelah, in the burying-place of Kish his father, and do all that the king commanded, and Elohim is entreated for the land afterwards.

²⁹ And the king swears and said, `Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity;"

⁹ `Rise, go to Zarephath, that [is] to Zidon, and you have dwelt there; lo, I have commanded there a widow woman to sustain you..

And the famine is severe in Samaria, ³ and Ahab calls unto Obadiah, who [is] over the house--and Obadiah has been fearing Yahweh greatly, ⁴ and it comes to pass, in Jezebel's cutting off the prophets of Yahweh, that Obadiah takes a hundred prophets, and hides them, fifty men in a cave, and has sustained them with bread and water-.

⁸ And he said to him, `I [am]; go, say to your lord, Lo, Elijah..

²⁴ And they come in to make sacrifices and burnt-offerings, and Jehu has set for himself in an out-place eighty men, and said, `The man who lets escape [any] of the men whom I am bringing in unto your hand--his soul for his soul.. <sup>25</sup> And it comes to pass at his finishing to make the burnt-offering, that Jehu said to the runners, and to the captains, `Go in, smite them, let none come out;' and they smite them by the mouth of the sword, and the runners and the captains cast [them] out; and they go unto the city, to the house of Baal,

⁶ only, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the shrine has remained in Samaria, -.

³⁴ Unto this day they are doing according to the former customs--they are not fearing Yahweh, and are not doing according to their statutes, and according to their ordinances, and according to the law, and according to the command, that Yahweh commanded the sons of Jacob whose name He made Israel,

⁴¹ and these nations are fearing Yahweh, and their graven images they have served, both their sons and their sons' sons; as their fathers did, they are doing unto this day.

¹⁹ And now, O Yahweh our Elohim, save us, we pray You, out of his hand, and know do all kingdoms of the earth that You [are] Yahweh Elohim--Yourself alone..

²⁶ `And now, Yahweh, You [are] Elohim Himself, and You speak concerning Your servant this goodness;"

¹⁶ and David lifts up his eyes, and sees the messenger of Yahweh standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falls, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces.

²⁶ and David builds there an altar to Yahweh, and offers burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and calls unto Yahweh, and He answers him with fire from the heavens on the altar of the burnt-offering.

¹⁸ `O Yahweh, Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this to the eon for the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and prepare their heart unto You;"

¹ And at Solomon's finishing to pray, then the fire has come down from the heavens, and consumes the burnt-offering and the sacrifices, and the honor of Yahweh has filled the house,

³ And all the sons of Israel are looking on the descending of the fire, and the honor of Yahweh on the house, and they bow--faces to the earth--on the pavement, and do obeisance, and give thanks to Yahweh, for good, for to the eon [is] His kindness.

¹¹ And Asa calls unto Yahweh his Elohim, and said, `Yahweh! it is nothing with You to help, between the mighty and those who have no power; help us, O Yahweh, our Elohim, for on You we have leant, and in Your name we have come against this multitude; O Yahweh, our Elohim you [are]; let him not prevail with You--mortal man!"

⁸ but if you are going--do [it], be strong for battle, Elohim does cause you to stumble before an enemy, for there is power in Elohim to help, and to cause to stumble..

¹⁹ and they speak against the Elohim of Jerusalem as against the elohims of the peoples of the land--work of the hands of man. ²⁰ And Hezekiah the king prays, and Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, concerning this, and they cry to the heavens,

¹³ and prays unto Him, and He is entreated of him, and hears his supplication, and brings him back to Jerusalem, to his kingdom, and Manasseh knows that Yahweh--He [is] Elohim.

¹⁶ And he builds the altar of Yahweh, and sacrifices upon it sacrifices of peace-offerings and thank-offering, and said to Judah to serve Yahweh, Elohim of Israel;"

³ And in the eighth year of his reign (and he yet a youth), he has begun to seek to the Elohim of David his father, and in the twelfth year he has begun to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the shrines, and the graven images, and the molten images.

¹⁷ And they offered for the dedication of this House of Eloah a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and as a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he-goats of the goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

⁴ Around me were gathering all those trembling at the words of the Elohim of Israel on account of the offense of the sons of deportation. And I continued sitting in desolation until the evening approach present. ⁵ Then at the time of the evening approach present I arose from my self-abasement and, with my garment and my robe torn on me, I bowed down on my knees and spread out my palms to Yahweh my Elohi. ⁶ and said:My Elohim, I am ashamed and confounded to raise up my face to You, my Elohim, for our depravities, they are abundant, above our heads, and our guilt is towering unto the heavens.

¹⁵ the former governors who [are] before me have made themselves heavy on the people, and take of them in bread and wine, besides in silver forty shekels; also, their servants have ruled over the people--and I have not done so, because of the fear of Elohim.

²⁶ `And they are disobedient, and rebel against You, and cast Your law behind their back, and Your prophets they have slain, who testified against them, to bring them back unto You, and they do great despisings,

⁷ So your beginning will seem inferior, Yet your latter state shall grow very great.

³ Is it possible to number His regiments, And on whom does His light not rise?

³ Belt up your loins now like a master; I shall ask of you, and you inform Me.

⁶ And I am making My vineyard into a chaos, and it is not being pruned. And not being hoed, and up come buckthorn and spines. And I am instructing the thick clouds over it to keep from raining rain on it."

² Seraphim are standing above it with six wings, six wings to each one. With two it is covering its face, and with two it is covering its feet, and with two it is flying." ³ And one calls to another, and says, "Holy! Holy! Holy! Yahweh of hosts! All the earth is filled with His glory!"

⁹ Know, you peoples, and be dismayed! And give ear, all you far from the land! Belt yourselves and be dismayed! Belt yourselves and be dismayed!" ¹⁰ Counsel with counsel, yet it shall be annulled! Speak the word, yet it shall not be confirmed! For with us is El!" ¹¹ For thus says Yahweh to me, as, with a steadfast hand, He disciplines me, lest I go in the way of this people, saying,

¹⁷ Stretch out Your ear, Yahweh, and hear! Unclose Your eyes, Yahweh, and see! And hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he sent to reproach the living Elohim." ¹⁸ Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria did drain all the nations, and their land, ¹⁹ and put their elohim into the fire, for no elohim are they, but rather the make of human hands, wood and stone, and they are destroying them." ²⁰ And now, Yahweh, our Elohim, pray, save us, from his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that You, Yahweh, are Elohim, You alone."

³⁸ And he is coming to worship in the house of Nisroch, his elohim, and Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, smite him with the sword. Yet they escape into the land of Ararat, and reigning is Esarhaddon, his son, in his stead."

⁸ And saying is Hezekiah to Isaiah, "Good is the word of Yahweh which you speak.And saying is he, "Is it not, since there is coming to be welfare and truth in my days?

²³ Tell what will arrive hereafter, and we will know that you are elohim. Indeed, you will do good and do evil. Then will we heed and see it together!"

¹⁵ And it comes to be for a human to consume. And he is taking of them for warmth. Indeed, he is igniting it and bakes bread. Indeed, he is contriving an el, and is worshiping it. He makes it a carving and is falling on his knees and face to it." ¹⁶ Half of it he burned up in the fire. And on this half of it he is eating flesh. He is roasting a roast and is satisfied. And by its embers he sits. Indeed, he is warming himself, and is saying, `Aha! I am warm! I see light!'" <sup>17</sup> And the remnant of it he makes into an el. To a decaying tree, to it is he falling on his knees and face. And he is worshiping, and praying to it, and saying, `Rescue me, for my el are you!'"

¹ Hear this, house of Jacob, called by the name of Israel, and those who from the waters of Judah fare forth, those swearing by the name of Yahweh, and the Elohim of Israel are mentioning, not in truth, and not in righteousness,

¹⁰ Who among you fears Yahweh, hearing the voice of His servant? Who goes in darkness, and there is no brightness for him? Is he trusting in the name of Yahweh, and leaning on his Elohim?

⁷ Hearken to Me, knowers of righteousness, My people with My law in their heart. You must not fear the reproach of a mortal, and by their taunts you must not be dismayed." ⁸ For, as if a garment, eating them is the moth, and, as if wool, eating them is the roach. Yet My righteousness for the eon shall come, and My salvation for the generation of generations." ⁹ Rouse! Rouse! Clothe yourself with strength, arm of Yahweh! Rouse as in days aforetime, the generations of the eons! Are not You He, the Hewer of the audacious, the Wounder of the monster?

¹⁴ And go to you to prostrate shall all the sons of your humiliators, and worship at the soles of your feet shall all your spurners. And they call you the city of Yahweh, Zion of the Holy One of Israel."

²² Are there among the vanities of the nations any causing rain? And do the heavens give showers? Are not You He, O Yahweh our Elohim? And we wait for you, for You--You have done all these!"

⁸ And it comes to pass, at the completion of Jeremiah's speaking all that Yahweh has commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests, and the prophets, and all the people catch him, saying, You do surely die, ⁹ Wherefore have you prophesied in the name of Yahweh, saying, `As Shiloh this house shall be, and this city is wasted, without inhabitant?' and all the people are assembled unto Jeremiah in the house of Yahweh."

²⁰ `And also there has been a man prophesying in the name of Yahweh, Urijah son of Shemaiah, of Kirjath-Jearim, and he prophesies against this city, and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah, ²¹ And the king Jehoiakim, and all his mighty ones, and all the heads, hear his words, and the king seeks to put him to death, and Urijah hears, and fears, and flees, and goes in to Egypt." ²² And the king Jehoiakim sends men to Egypt--Elnathan son of Achbor, and men with him unto Egypt--" ²³ And they bring out Urijah from Egypt, and bring him in unto the king Jehoiakim, and he smites him with a sword, and casts his corpse unto the graves of the sons of the people.'"

⁶ Yea, Jeremiah the prophet said, `Amen! so may Yahweh do; Yahweh establish your words that you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the house of Yahweh and all the removal from Babylon, unto this place." <sup>7</sup> `Only, hear, I pray you, this word that I am speaking in your ears, and in the ears of all the people." ⁸ The prophets who have been before me, and before you, from of old, even they prophesy concerning many lands, and concerning great kingdoms, of battle, and of evil, and of pestilence." ⁹ The prophet who does prophesy of peace--by the coming in of the word of the prophet, known is the prophet that Yahweh has truly sent him.'"

¹ At that time, an affirmation of Yahweh, I am for Elohim to all families of Israel, And they--they are to Me for a people."

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself, `You have chastised me, And I am chastised, as a heifer not taught, Turn me back, and I turn back, For you [are] Yahweh my Elohim." ¹⁹ For after my turning back I repented, And after my being instructed I struck on the thigh, I have been ashamed, I have also blushed, For I have borne the reproach of my youth."

²⁶ And the king commands Jerahmeel son of Hammelek, and Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Yahweh does hide them."

⁴ And the heads say unto the king, `Let, we pray you, this man be put to death, because that he is making feeble the hands of the men of war, who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking unto them according to these words, for this man is not seeking for the peace of this people, but for its evil.'"

¹⁸ I live--an affirmation of the King, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name, Surely as Tabor [is] among mountains, And as Carmel by the sea--he comes in,

¹⁰ Cursed [is] he who is doing the work of Yahweh slothfully, And cursed [is] he Who is withholding his sword from blood."

³ has the word of Yahweh certainly been unto Ezekiel son of Buzi the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans, by the river Chebar, and there is on him there a hand of Yahweh."

⁸ `Lo, I have made your face strong against their face, and your forehead strong against their forehead."

¹² And lift me up does a spirit, and I hear behind me a noise, a great rushing--`Blessed [is] the honor of Yahweh from His place!' --" ¹³ even a noise of the wings of the living creatures touching one another, and a noise of the wheels over-against them, even a noise of a great rushing." ¹⁴ And a spirit has lifted me up, and does take me away, and I go bitterly, in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Yahweh on me [is] strong."

³⁹ And you, O house of Israel, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Each his idols--go--serve you, And, afterwards, if you are not hearkening to me, And My holy name you do not pollute any more by your gifts, and by your idols."

²³ And I have sanctified My great name, That is profaned among nations, That you have polluted in your midst, And known have the nations that I [am] Yahweh, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, In My being sanctified in you before your eyes."

²⁵ And I have sprinkled over you clean water, And you have been clean; From all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, I do cleanse you." ²⁶ And I have given to you a new heart, And a new spirit I give in your midst, And I have turned aside the heart of stone out of your flesh, And I have given to you a heart of flesh." ²⁷ And My Spirit I give in your midst, And I have done this, so that in My statutes you walk, And My judgments you keep, and have done them."

¹ There has been upon me a hand of Yahweh, and He takes me forth in the Spirit of Yahweh, and does place me in the midst of the valley, and it is full of bones,

¹⁶ `And you, son of man, take to you one stick, and write on it, For Judah, and for the sons of Israel, his companions; and take another stick, and write on it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and all the house of Israel, his companions, <sup>17</sup> and bring them near one unto another, to you, for one stick, and they have become one in your hand." <sup>18</sup> `And when sons of your people speak unto you, saying, Do you not declare to us what these [are] to you? ¹⁹ Speak unto them, Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am taking the stick of Joseph, that [is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and have given them unto him, with the stick of Judah, and have made them become one stick, and they have been one in My hand." ²⁰ And the sticks on which you write have been in your hand before your eyes, ²¹ and speak you unto them:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Lo, I am taking the sons of Israel, From among the nations whither they have gone, And have gathered them from round about, And I have brought them in unto their land." ²² And I have made them become one nation in the land, on mountains of Israel, And one king is to them all for king, And they are no more as two nations, Nor are they divided any more into two kingdoms again."

⁷ And My holy name I make known in the midst of My people Israel, And I pollute not My holy name any more, And known have the nations that I, Yahweh, the Holy One, [am] in Israel."

¹ In the twenty and fifth year of our removal, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in this self-same day has a hand of Yahweh been upon me, and He brings me in thither;" ² in visions of Elohim He has brought me in unto the land of Israel, and causes me to rest on a very high mountain, and upon it [is] as the frame of a city on the south."

¹³ `Thus said the Lord Yahweh:This [is] the border whereby you inherit the land, according to the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph [has] portions."

⁵ Answering is the king and saying to the Chaldeans, "The matter is departing from me. Should you not be making known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be dismembered, and the confiscation of your houses shall be promulgated." ⁶ Should you disclose the dream and its interpretation to me, gifts and a reward and great esteem shall you receive before me. Only disclose the dream and its interpretation." ⁷ They answer a second time and are saying, "The king will state the dream to his servants, then the interpretation will we disclose." ⁸ Answering is the king and saying, "I know for certain that you would gain time, forasmuch as you perceive that the matter is departing from me." ⁹ For, should you not be making the dream known to me, there is but one edict for you, as you will concoct a lying and corrupt matter to say before me, till the times are altering. Only the dream state to me, and I shall know that its interpretation you will disclose to me." ¹⁰ Answering are the Chaldeans before the king and saying, "Actually no mortal on earth can disclose the king's matter, forasmuch as any other king, grandee, or authority does not ask a matter such as this of any sacred scribe, or magus or Chaldean." ¹¹ The matter that the king is asking is heavy and extraordinary. Actually no other will disclose it before the king, only the elohim whose abode actually is not with any flesh." ¹² Wherefore the king is angry and has great wrath, and says to destroy all the wise men of Babylon." ¹³ Then the edict is issued to despatch all the wise men, and they seek Daniel and all his partners to be dispatched."

¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar is full of fury, and the mien of his visage alters against Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He is answering and saying to heat the furnace seven units over what he perceives it to be already heated."

²⁵ He is answering and saying, "Aha! I am perceiving four masters, untied, walking about in the midst of the flame, and actually, not one among them is harmed! And the appearance of the fourth is like a son of Elohim."

²³ Over the Lord, the Eloah of the heavens, you exalt yourself; the vessels of His house they bring hither before you; you and your grandees, your consorts and your concubines are drinking turbid wine from them. Also elohim of silver, gold, copper, iron, wood, and stone who are not perceiving and not hearing and not knowing, these you laud, yet the Eloah in Whose hand is your breath, and for Whom are all your paths, Him you do not honor."

¹³ Now I am hearing one saint speaking. And saying is one other saint to so-and-so, the speaking one, "Till when is the vision of the continuous ritual--the cessation of the sacrifice and the desolating transgression which gives over even the holy place and the host to tramping?

³ I am setting my face to my Lord the Elohim, to seek prayer and supplications in fasting and sackcloth and ashes."

⁷ To Thee, my Lord, is righteousness, yet to us is shamefacedness as at this day:To each man of Judah, to the dwellers of Jerusalem, to all the people of Israel, the near and the far, in all the lands where Thou hast expelled them for their offense with which they offend Thee."

¹⁷ And now hearken, Lord our Elohim, to the prayer of Thy servant and to his supplications. Light up Thy face over Thy desolated sanctuary on Thy account, my Lord:" ¹⁸ Stretch out, my Elohim, Thine ear and hear me; unclose Thine eyes and see our desolation and the city over which Thy name is called; for not on account of our righteousness are we casting our supplications before Thee, but on account of the multitude of Thy compassions." ¹⁹ My Lord, hear! My Lord, pardon! My Lord, attend and do! Thou must not be delaying on Thine own account, my Elohim, for Thy name is called over Thy city and over Thy people, Israel."

And bring your sacrifices for the morning, and your tithes for three days!" ⁵ And fume incense with leaven as acclamation, and proclaim the voluntary vows! Announce it, for so you love, sons of Israel, (averring is my Lord Yahweh)."

⁷ And, moreover, I withhold from you the downpour, while still three months to harvest, and I cause rain on one city, and on another city I am not causing rain; one portion was rained upon, and the portion upon which I am not causing rain is drying up."

¹⁰ And Amaziah, priest of Bethel, is sending to Jeroboam, king of Israel, saying:Amos conspires against you within the house of Israel. The land is not able to contain all his words."

³ And if they are hiding in the summit of Carmel, thence will I search and take them. And if they are concealed from in front of My eyes on the floor of the sea, thence will I instruct the serpent, and it will bite them."

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time; and it will bud at the end, and will not lie dormant. If it be dallying, tarry for it, for it will surely come, and it will not delay."

¹⁸ What does a carving benefit, that its former has carved it? A molten image and a false apparition, that the former of its form trusts in it, to make mute forbidden idols?

¹⁷ Though the fig tree is not budding, and there is no crop on the vines; the yield of the olive dissimulates, and the plantations yield no food; the flock severs from the fold, and there is no herd in the paddocks;"

⁵ and those worshiping on the house tops to the host of the heavens, and those worshiping--swearing to Yahweh and swearing by their king,

⁹ And I visit evil on everyone leaping over the sill in that day; those filling the house of Yahweh, their Elohim, with violence and deceit."

¹⁰ For who despises the day of small things? And they shall rejoice and see the stone plumb in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of Yahweh; they are going to and fro in the entire land.
