² and Elijah goes to appear unto Ahab. And the famine is severe in Samaria,

²⁶ When I break the stock of bread for you then ten women will bake your bread in one stove and return your bread by weight so that you will eat and not be satisfied.

²³ Your heavens that are over your head will come to be as copper, and the earth that is beneath you as iron. ²⁴ Yahweh shall make the rain of your land to be dust and soil-drifts; from the heavens it shall descend on you until you are exterminated.

²⁵ and there is a great famine in Samaria, and lo, they are laying siege to it, till the head of an ass is at eighty silverlings, and a fourth of the cab of dove's dung at five silverlings.

¹ {Davidic{ Yahweh is my Light and my Salvation; Whom should I fear? Yahweh is the Stronghold of my life; Of whom should I be afraid?

⁴ Against You, against You alone have I sinned And done what is evil in Your eyes, So that You may be justified when You speak, And be cleared when You judge."

¹ The wicked man flees when there is no one pursuing, Yet the righteous trust confidently like a sheltered lion."

¹² I, I am He, your Comforter. Who are you, that you are fearing a mortal who is dying, and a son of Adam who as grass is drying?

² Mourned has Judah, and her gates have languished, They have mourned to the earth, And the cry of Jerusalem has gone up." ³ And their honorable ones have sent their little ones to the water, They have come unto ditches, They have not found water, They have turned back--their vessels empty! They have been ashamed, And have blushed and covered their head." ⁴ Because the ground has been broken, For there has been no rain in the land, Ashamed have been husbandmen, They have covered their head." ⁵ For even the hind in the field has brought forth--to forsake [it!] For there has been no grass. ⁶ And wild asses have stood on high places, They have swallowed up wind like dragons, Consumed have been their eyes, for there is no herb."

¹⁸ If I have gone forth to the field, Then, lo, the pierced of the sword! And if I have entered the city, Then, lo, the diseased of famine! For both prophet and priest have gone up and down Unto a land that they knew not."

¹⁵ Alas! Alas! Alas for the day! For near is the day of Yahweh. And as devastation from Him Who-Suffices is it coming. ¹⁶ Is not the food cut off in front of our eyes, rejoicing and exultation from the house of our Elohim? ¹⁷ The parted seeds wizen beneath their dirt lumps:The treasuries are desolate; the underground hoards are demolished, for the grain is dried up." ¹⁸ How the beast sighs! The droves of oxen are doleful, for there is no pasture for them. Even the droves of small cattle are exterminated." ¹⁹ To You, Yahweh, am I calling, for fire devours the oases of the wilderness, and a blaze sets aflame all the trees of the field." ²⁰ Even the beasts of the field are sniffing for You, for the channels of water are dry, and fire devours the oases of the wilderness."

⁵ May fondness for money not be your manner, being sufficed with what is present, for He has declared: Under no circumstances may I be lax regarding you, Neither by any means may I be forsaking you." ⁶ So that we have courage to say, "The Lord is my Helper, and I shall not be afraid of what man shall be doing to me!"
