¹ A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to the upright in heart!

³⁹ And his brother Asaph, who stood at his right hand; Asaph the son of Berachiah, the son of Shimea,

¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; Asaph the son of Berechiah was one of his brethren; and Ethan the son of Kushaiah was of the sons of Merari their brethren;

⁷ Then David first gave orders to praise the Lord by the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

³⁷ And they left there Asaph and his brethren before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to minister before the ark continually, according to the service of each day; from day to day.

¹ And King David and the captains of the army appointed to their services the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, lutes, and cymbals; and their number was according to their polls serving in their ministrations. ² The sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were next to the king. ³ To Jeduthun were reckoned the sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six after their father Jeduthun, sounding loudly on the harp thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. ⁴ To Heman were reckoned the sons of Heman, Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's chief player in the praises of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons, and three daughters. ⁶ All these sang hymns with their father in the house of God, with cymbals, lutes, and harps, for the service of the house of God, near the king, and Asaph, and Jeduthun, and Heman.

³⁰ And King Hezekiah and the princes told the Levites to sing hymns to the Lord in the words of David, and of Asaph the prophet. And they sang hymns with gladness, and fell down and worshipped.

⁶ But I have been made King by Him on Zion His holy mountain,

⁴ He that is innocent in his hands and pure in his heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully to his neighbor.

¹¹ Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why do you trouble me? Hope in God; for I will give thanks to Him; He is the health of my countenance, and my God.

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. The God of gods, the Lord, has spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its going down.

¹⁰ Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a steadfast spirit in my inward parts.

¹⁸ Surely You have appointed judgments to them because of their crafty dealings; You have cast them down when they were lifted up.

¹ A Song of a Psalm of Asaph. O God, who shall be compared to You? Be not silent, neither be still, O God.

¹¹ For the Lord loves mercy and truth; God will give grace and glory; the Lord will not withhold good things from them that walk in innocence.

⁷ I remembered the mercy of the Lord, the praises of the Lord in all things in which He recompenses us. The Lord is a good judge to the house of Israel; He deals with us according to His mercy, and according to the abundance of His righteousness. ⁸ And He said, Is it not My people? The children surely will not be rebellious; and He became to them deliverance ⁹ out of all their affliction; not an ambassador, nor a messenger, but He Himself saved them, because He loved them and spared them; He Himself redeemed them, and took them up, and lifted them up all the days of old.

¹⁴ Cleanse your heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, that you may be saved; how long will your grievous thoughts be within you?

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

³² Do not fear, little flock, because your Father is well pleased to give to you the kingdom.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said about him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!"

²⁸ For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in flesh; ²⁹ but he is a Jew that is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, in spirit, not in letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.

¹⁶ Therefore it is of faith that it may be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those of the law, but also to those of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

⁶ But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all those of Israel are of Israel, ⁷ nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, "In Isaac your seed shall be called."

⁵ not by works of righteousness which we did, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

⁸ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
