¹ A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to the upright in heart! ² But my feet were almost overthrown; my goings very nearly slipped. ³ For I was jealous of the transgressors, beholding the tranquility of sinners. ⁴ For there is no sign of reluctance in their death, and they have firmness under their affliction. ⁵ They are not in the troubles of other men; and they shall not be scourged with other men. ⁶ Therefore pride has possessed them; they have clothed themselves with their injustice and ungodliness. ⁷ Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness; they have fulfilled their intention. ⁸ They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness; they have uttered unrighteousness loftily. ⁹ They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has gone through upon the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore shall my people return here, and full days shall be found with them. ¹¹ And they said, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High? ¹² Behold, these are the sinners, and they that prosper always; they have possessed wealth. ¹³ And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocence. ¹⁴ For I was plagued all the day, and my reproof was every morning. ¹⁵ If I said, I will speak thus; behold, I should have broken covenant with the generation of Your children. ¹⁶ And I undertook to understand this, but it is too hard for me, ¹⁷ until I go into the sanctuary of God, and so understand the latter end. ¹⁸ Surely You have appointed judgments to them because of their crafty dealings; You have cast them down when they were lifted up. ¹⁹ How have they become desolate! Suddenly they have failed; they have perished because of their iniquity. ²⁰ As the dream of one awakening, O Lord, in Your city You will despise their image. ²¹ For my heart has rejoiced, and my heart has been gladdened. ²² But I was vile and knew not: I became brutish before You. ²³ Yet I am continually with You. You have taken hold of my right hand. ²⁴ You have guided me by Your counsel, and You have taken me to Yourself with glory. ²⁵ For whom have I in heaven but You? And what have I desired upon the earth besides You? ²⁶ My heart and my flesh have failed; but God is the strength of my heart, and God is my portion forever. ²⁷ For behold, they that remove themselves far from You shall perish; You have destroyed everyone that goes a whoring from You. ²⁸ But it is good for me to cleave close to God, to put my trust in the Lord; that I may proclaim all Your praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion.

² And Pharaoh said, Who is He that I should listen to His voice, so that I should send away the children of Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.

Arise, and eat bread, and be your own master, and I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. ⁸ And she wrote a letter in the name of Ahab, and sealed it with his seal, and sent the letter to the elders, and to the freemen who dwelt with Naboth. ⁹ And it was written in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth in a chief place among the people. ¹⁰ And set two men, sons of transgressors, before him, and let them testify against him, saying, He blasphemed God and the king: and let them lead him forth, and stone him, and let him die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, the elders, and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezabel sent to them, and as it had been written in the letters which she sent to them. ¹² And they proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth in a chief place among the people. ¹³ And two men, sons of transgressors, came in, and sat opposite him, and bore witness against him, saying, You have 6blasphemed God and the king. And they led him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, and he died. ¹⁴ And they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth has been stoned, and is dead. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard it, that she said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, who would not sell it to you; for Naboth is not alive, for he is dead. ¹⁶ And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth the Jezreelite was dead, that he tore his clothes, and put on sackcloth. And it came to pass afterward, that Ahab arose and went down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it. ¹⁷ And the Lord spoke to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ¹⁸ Arise, and go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who is in Samaria, for he is in the vineyard of Naboth, for he has gone down there to take possession of it. ¹⁹ And you shall speak to him, saying, Thus says the Lord: Forasmuch as you have slain and taken possession, therefore thus says the Lord, In every place where the swine and the dogs have licked the blood of Naboth, there shall the dogs lick your blood; and the harlots shall wash themselves in your blood. ²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he said, I have found you; because you have wickedly sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger; ²¹ behold, I bring evil upon you; and I will kindle a fire after you, and I will utterly destroy every male of Ahab, and him that is shut up and him that is left in Israel. ²² And I will make your house as the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and as the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, because of the provocations in which you have provoked Me, and caused Israel to sin. ²³ And the Lord spoke of Jezebel, saying, The dogs shall devour her within the walls of Jezreel. ²⁴ Him that is dead of Ahab in the city shall the dogs eat, and him that dies in the field of Ahab shall the birds of the sky eat. ²⁵ But Ahab did wickedly, in that he sold himself to do that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his wife Jezebel led him astray. ²⁶ And he did very abominably in following after the abominations, according to all that the Amorite did, whom the Lord utterly destroyed from before the children of Israel. ²⁷ And because of the word, Ahab was pierced with sorrow before the Lord, and he both went weeping, and tore his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his body, and fasted; he put on sackcloth also in the day that he smote Naboth the Jezreelite, and went his way. ²⁸ And the word of the Lord came by the hand of his servant Elijah concerning Ahab, and the Lord said, ²⁹ Have you seen how Ahab has been pricked to the heart before Me? I will not bring on the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring on the evil.

³⁹ And his brother Asaph, who stood at his right hand; Asaph the son of Berachiah, the son of Shimea,

¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; Asaph the son of Berechiah was one of his brethren; and Ethan the son of Kushaiah was of the sons of Merari their brethren;

³⁷ And they left there Asaph and his brethren before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to minister before the ark continually, according to the service of each day; from day to day.

¹ And King David and the captains of the army appointed to their services the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, lutes, and cymbals; and their number was according to their polls serving in their ministrations. ² The sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were next to the king. ³ To Jeduthun were reckoned the sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six after their father Jeduthun, sounding loudly on the harp thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. ⁴ To Heman were reckoned the sons of Heman, Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's chief player in the praises of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons, and three daughters. ⁶ All these sang hymns with their father in the house of God, with cymbals, lutes, and harps, for the service of the house of God, near the king, and Asaph, and Jeduthun, and Heman.

³⁰ And King Hezekiah and the princes told the Levites to sing hymns to the Lord in the words of David, and of Asaph the prophet. And they sang hymns with gladness, and fell down and worshipped.

¹⁵ Now then, let not Hezekiah deceive you, and let him not make you thus confident, and believe him not, for no god of any kingdom or nation is at all able to deliver his people out of my hand, or the hand of my fathers; therefore your God shall not deliver you out of my hand.

³ So have I also endured months of vanity, and nights of pain have been appointed me. ⁴ Whenever I lie down, I say, When will it be day? And whenever I rise up, again I say when will it be evening? And I am full of pains from evening to morning.

²⁷ And if I should say, I will forget to speak, I will bow down my face and groan;

³¹ You had thoroughly plunged me in filth, and my garment has abhorred me.

³ Is it good before You if I am unrighteous? For You have disowned the work of Your hands, and attended to the counsel of the ungodly.

⁵ For it had been ordained that he should fall under others at the appointed time, and that his houses should be spoiled by transgressors: let not however anyone trust that, being evil, he shall be held guiltless,

³ For why have we been silent before you like brutes?

⁵ But the mirth of the ungodly is a signal downfall, and the joy of transgressors is destruction:

⁸ Like a dream that has fled away, he shall not be found; and he has fled like a vision of the night.

²³ If by any means he would fill his belly, let God send upon him the fury of wrath; let Him bring a torrent of pains upon him. ²⁴ And he shall by no means escape from the power of the sword; let the bronze bow wound him. ²⁵ And let the arrow pierce through his body; and let the stars be against his dwelling-place: let terrors come upon him.

⁴ What! Is my reproof from man? And why should I not be angry?

⁶ For even when I remember, I am alarmed, and pains seize my flesh. ⁷ Why do the ungodly live, and grow old even in wealth?

³ I will answer you, and your three friends.

⁶ Arise, O Lord, in Your wrath; be exalted in the utmost boundaries of my enemies: awake, O Lord my God, according to the decree which You did command.

They have corrupted themselves, and have become abominable in iniquities; there is none that does good. ² God looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there were any that understood, or sought after God. ³ They have all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, there is not even one. ⁴ Will none of the workers of iniquity know, who devour My people as they would eat bread? They have not called upon God. There were they greatly afraid, where there was no fear;

²³ But You, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; bloody and crafty men shall not live out half their days; but I will hope in You, O Lord.

² My soul longs and faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh have exalted in the living God.

¹⁰ For one day in Your courts is better than thousands. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God, than dwell in the tents of sinners. ¹¹ For the Lord loves mercy and truth; God will give grace and glory; the Lord will not withhold good things from them that walk in innocence.

⁵ Let your way of life be without loving money, being satisfied with what you have. For He Himself has said, "By no means shall I desert you, nor in any way shall I forsake you;"

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. Thus the tongue is set among our members, as that which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world is constituted an enemy of God. ⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?

⁸ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

¹ Listen now, you rich, weep and howl at your miseries which are coming upon you! ² Your riches have decayed, and your garments have become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have become corroded, and their poison will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You stored up treasure in the last days. ⁴ Indeed, the wages of the laborers who reaped your fields, which were kept back by you, cry out, and the cries of the reapers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts. ⁵ You lived luxuriously upon the earth and you lived riotously, you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned; you have murdered the just. He does not resist you.

⁴ into an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you, ⁵ who by the power of God are being guarded through faith for the salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ In which you greatly rejoice, though for a little while now, if need be, you have been distressed by various trials,

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellent virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once to atone for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit,

⁵ Likewise, younger people, subject yourselves to the elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tent is soon, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

¹⁰ and especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are bold, self-willed, illustrious persons, they do not tremble at blaspheming,

¹⁸ For when they speak haughty words of emptiness, they entice through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, those who are escaping from those who are living in error,

² Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaks puffed up words, flattering people to gain advantage.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. Be zealous therefore, and repent.

⁶ Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His dwelling, and those who dwell in heaven.

¹ Then one of the seven angels having the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, ² with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and those dwelling on the earth became drunk from the wine of her fornication." ³ And he led me away in the Spirit, into a deserted place. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast being filled with names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. ⁴ And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup being filled with abominations and the filthiness of the fornication of the earth. ⁵ And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

¹⁰ standing from afar on account of the fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! Because in one hour your judgment came.'

³ And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them.

⁷ He that overcomes I shall give to him these things, and I shall be God to him, and he shall be to Me a son.

²² But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, also the Lamb. ²³ The city had no need of the sun nor of the moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
