Mark 4 Cross References - BLB

1 And again He began to teach beside the sea. And a great crowd was gathered together to Him, so that He, having entered into a boat, sat in the sea, and all the crowd was on the land, close to the sea. 2 And He began teaching them many things in parables, and in His teaching He was saying to them, 3 “Listen! Behold, the one sowing went out to sow. 4 And it came to pass as he sowed, some fell along the road, and the birds came and devoured it. 5 And other fell upon the rocky place where it had not much soil, and it sprang up immediately, because of not having depth of soil. 6 And after the sun rose, it was scorched, and because of not having root, it withered away. 7 And other fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. 8 And other fell into the good soil and began yielding fruit, growing up and increasing, and one bearing thirtyfold, and one sixty, and one a hundred.” 9 And He was saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” 10 And when He was alone, those around Him with the Twelve began asking Him about the parable. 11 And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, everything is done in parables, 12 so that, ‘Seeing, they might see and not perceive; and hearing, they might hear and not understand; lest ever they should turn, and they should be forgiven.’” 13 And He says to them, “Do you not understand this parable? Then how will you understand all the parables? 14 The one sowing sows the word. 15 And these are those along the road, where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word having been sown in them. 16 And these are likewise those sown upon the rocky places, who when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy, 17 and they have no root in themselves, but are temporary. Then tribulation or persecution having arisen on account of the word, immediately they fall away. 18 And these are those sown among the thorns. These are those having heard the word, 19 and the cares of this age and the deceit of riches, and the desires of the other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 And these are those having been sown upon the good soil, such as hear the word and receive it, and bring forth fruit: one thirtyfold, and one sixty, and one a hundred.” 21 And He was saying to them, “The lamp is not brought in so that it might be put under the basket, or under the bed. Is it not that it might be put upon the lampstand? 22 For there is nothing which is hidden except that it should be made manifest; nor has taken place a secret thing, but that it should come to light. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” 24 And He was saying to them, “Take heed what you hear. With what measure you measure it will be measured to you, and more will be added to you. 25 For whoever may have, it will be given to him; and he who does not have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.” 26 And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is thus, as a man should cast the seed upon the earth, 27 and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow—he not knows how. 28 Of itself, the earth brings forth fruit—first a plant, then an ear, then full grain in the ear. 29 And when the fruit offers itself, he sends the sickle immediately, for the harvest has come.” 30 And He was saying, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we present it? 31 As a grain of mustard, which, when it has been sown upon the earth, is smallest of all the seeds that are upon the earth, 32 and when it has been sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all the garden plants, and produces great branches, so that the birds of the air are able to encamp under its shadow.” 33 And with many such parables He kept speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear, 34 and He would not speak to them without parables; but privately He would explain all things to His own disciples. 35 And on that day, evening having come, He says to them, “Let us pass over to the other side.” 36 And having dismissed the crowd, they take Him with them since He was in the boat; and other boats were with Him. 37 And a violent storm of wind comes, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat already is being filled up. 38 And He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. And they awaken Him and say to Him, “Teacher, is it no concern to You that we perish?” 39 And having been awoken, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Silence, be still!” And the wind abated, and there was a great calm. 40 And He said to them, “Why are you fearful? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they feared with great fear and were saying to each other, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

And it sprang up immediately, through having no depth of soil. 6 And the sun having risen, they were scorched, and through not having root, were dried up. 7 And other fell upon the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 And other fell upon the good soil and were yielding fruit—indeed some a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty. 9 The one having ears, let him hear!” 10 And the disciples having approached, said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 And answering He said to them, “Because it has been granted to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will be in abundance. And whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Because of this I speak to them in parables: ‘Because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.’ 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, saying: ‘In hearing you will hear and never understand; and in seeing you will see and never perceive. 15 For the heart of this people has grown dull, and they barely hear with the ears, and they have closed their eyes, lest ever they should see with the eyes, and they should hear with the ears, and they should understand with the heart, and should turn, and I will heal them.’

Matthew 13:18-23

18 You, therefore, hear the parable of the one having sown: 19 Everyone hearing the word of the kingdom and not understanding, the evil one comes and snatches away that having been sown in his heart. This is the one having been sown on the path. 20 And the one having been sown upon the rocky places, this is the one hearing the word and immediately receiving it with joy. 21 And he has in himself no root, but is temporary. And having come tribulation or persecution on account of the word, immediately he falls away. 22 And the one having been sown among the thorns, this is the one hearing the word, but the care of this present age and the deceit of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 23 But the one having been sown on the good soil, this is the one hearing the word and understanding, who indeed brings forth fruit and produces—indeed, some a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.”

Hebrews 5:11-14

11 Concerning this there is much speech from us, and difficult in interpretation to speak, since you have become sluggish in the hearings. 12 For even by the time you ought to be teachers, you have need of one to teach you again what is the beginning of the principles of the oracles of God; and you have become those having need of milk, and not of solid food. 13 For everyone partaking of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, the ones by constant use having trained the senses for distinguishing both good and evil.

3 But let sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness not even be named among you, as also is proper to saints, 4 and filthiness, and foolish talking, or crude joking, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For this you know, realizing that any fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous man, who is an idolater, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light— 9 for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth— 10 discerning what is well-pleasing to the Lord. 11 And do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention the things being done by them in secret. 13 But everything being exposed by the light is made visible, for everything becoming visible is light. 14 Therefore it says: “Awake you, the one sleeping, and rise up out from the dead, and Christ will shine upon you.” 15 Therefore carefully take heed how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

20 And these are those having been sown upon the good soil, such as hear the word and receive it, and bring forth fruit: one thirtyfold, and one sixty, and one a hundred.”

Luke 13:18

18 And He was saying, “To what is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I liken it?

40 Therefore, as the weeds are gathered and consumed in fire, so will it be in the consummation of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all the stumbling blocks and those practicing lawlessness, 42 and they will cast them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one having ears, let him hear!

2 Timothy 4:7-8

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 From now on the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me in that day; but not only to me, but also to all those loving His appearing.

Luke 13:18-21

18 And He was saying, “To what is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I liken it? 19 It is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, cast into his garden; and it grew and came into a tree, and the birds of the air encamped in its branches.” 20 And again He said, “To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? 21 It is like to leaven, which a woman, having taken, hid in three measures of meal, until it all was leavened.”

Matthew 13:31-33

31 He put before them another parable, saying: “The kingdom of the heavens is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man having taken, sowed in his field, 32 which indeed is smallest of all the seeds; but when it is grown, it is greater than the garden plants, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and encamp in its branches.” 33 He spoke to them another parable: “The kingdom of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman having taken, hid in three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

Revelation 20:1-6

1 And I saw an angel descending out of heaven, holding in his hand the key of the Abyss, and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 And he cast him into the Abyss, and shut and sealed it over him, so that he should not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed. After these things it is necessary for him to be released for a little time. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them, and the souls of those having been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not take the mark upon the forehead, and upon their hand. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years shall have been completed. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one having a part in the first resurrection! Over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him a thousand years.
