¹⁵ Προσέχετε (But beware) ἀπὸ (of) τῶν (the) ψευδοπροφητῶν (false prophets), οἵτινες (who) ἔρχονται (come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) ἐνδύμασιν (clothing) προβάτων (of sheep); ἔσωθεν (inwardly) δέ (however) εἰσιν (they are) λύκοι (wolves) ἅρπαγες (ravenous).

¹⁸ οἱ (-) γὰρ (For) τοιοῦτοι (such) τῷ (the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Χριστῷ (Christ) οὐ (not) δουλεύουσιν (serve), ἀλλὰ (but) τῇ (the) ἑαυτῶν (of themselves) κοιλίᾳ (belly); καὶ (and) διὰ (by) τῆς (-) χρηστολογίας (smooth talk) καὶ (and) εὐλογίας (flattery) ἐξαπατῶσιν (they deceive) τὰς (the) καρδίας (hearts) τῶν (of the) ἀκάκων (naive).

²⁰ ἀνέχεσθε (You bear it) γὰρ (for) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) καταδουλοῖ (enslaves), εἴ (if) τις (anyone) κατεσθίει (devours you), εἴ (if) τις (anyone) λαμβάνει (takes from you), εἴ (if) τις (anyone) ἐπαίρεται (exalts himself), εἴ (if) τις (anyone) εἰς (in) πρόσωπον (the face) ὑμᾶς (of you) δέρει (strikes you).

¹⁹ ὧν (whose) τὸ (-) τέλος (end is) ἀπώλεια (destruction), ὧν (whose) ὁ (-) θεὸς (God is) ἡ (the) κοιλία (belly), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory) ἐν (is in) τῇ (the) αἰσχύνῃ (shame) αὐτῶν (of them), οἱ (those) τὰ (things) ἐπίγεια (earthly) φρονοῦντες (minding).

¹¹ οὓς (whom) δεῖ (it is necessary) ἐπιστομίζειν (to silence), οἵτινες (who) ὅλους (whole) οἴκους (households) ἀνατρέπουσιν (overthrow), διδάσκοντες (teaching) ἃ (things that they) μὴ (not) δεῖ (ought), αἰσχροῦ (base) κέρδους (gain) χάριν (for the sake of). ¹² εἶπέν (Said) τις (one) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them), ἴδιος (own) αὐτῶν (of them), προφήτης (a prophet), “Κρῆτες (Cretans) ἀεὶ (are always) ψεῦσται (liars), κακὰ (evil) θηρία (beasts), γαστέρες (gluttons) ἀργαί (lazy).”

³ μηδ’ (not) ὡς (as) κατακυριεύοντες (exercising lordship over) τῶν (-) κλήρων (those in your charge), ἀλλὰ (but) τύποι (examples) γινόμενοι (being) τοῦ (to the) ποιμνίου (flock).

¹³ ἀδικούμενοι (suffering wrong) μισθὸν (as the wage) ἀδικίας (of unrighteousness); ἡδονὴν (as pleasure) ἡγούμενοι (esteeming) τὴν (-) ἐν (in) ἡμέρᾳ (daytime) τρυφήν (carousal); σπίλοι (blots) καὶ (and) μῶμοι (blemishes), ἐντρυφῶντες (reveling) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἀπάταις (deceptions) αὐτῶν (of them), συνευωχούμενοι (feasting with) ὑμῖν (you); ¹⁴ ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ἔχοντες (having) μεστοὺς (full) μοιχαλίδος (of adultery), καὶ (and) ἀκαταπαύστους (unceasing) ἁμαρτίας (from sin), δελεάζοντες (enticing) ψυχὰς (souls) ἀστηρίκτους (unestablished); καρδίαν (a heart) γεγυμνασμένην (having been exercised) πλεονεξίας (in craving) ἔχοντες (having)— κατάρας (of a curse) τέκνα (children)!

⁹ Ἔγραψά (I have written) τι (something) τῇ (to the) ἐκκλησίᾳ (church); ἀλλ’ (but) ὁ (the one) φιλοπρωτεύων (loving to be first) αὐτῶν (among them), Διοτρεφὴς (Diotrephes), οὐκ (not) ἐπιδέχεται (welcomes) ἡμᾶς (us). ¹⁰ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), ἐὰν (if) ἔλθω (I might come), ὑπομνήσω (I will bring to remembrance) αὐτοῦ (of him) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) ἃ (which) ποιεῖ (he is doing), λόγοις (with words) πονηροῖς (evil) φλυαρῶν (prating against) ἡμᾶς (us); καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ἀρκούμενος (being satisfied) ἐπὶ (with) τούτοις (these), οὔτε (neither) αὐτὸς (himself) ἐπιδέχεται (he receives) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers), καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) βουλομένους (purposing), κωλύει (he forbids), καὶ (and) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) ἐκκλησίας (church) ἐκβάλλει (he casts them out).

¹² Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἀγάπαις (love feasts) ὑμῶν (of you), σπιλάδες (hidden reefs), συνευωχούμενοι (feasting together with you) ἀφόβως (fearlessly), ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) ποιμαίνοντες (shepherding); νεφέλαι (clouds) ἄνυδροι (without water), ὑπὸ (by) ἀνέμων (winds) παραφερόμεναι (being carried about); δένδρα (trees) φθινοπωρινὰ (autumnal) ἄκαρπα (without fruit), δὶς (twice) ἀποθανόντα (having died), ἐκριζωθέντα (having been uprooted);

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) νικῆσαι (to overcome) αὐτούς (them). καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐπὶ (over) πᾶσαν (every) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) λαὸν (people) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) ἔθνος (nation).

⁶ ὅτι (because) αἷμα (the blood) ἁγίων (of saints) καὶ (and) προφητῶν (of prophets) ἐξέχεαν (they have poured out), καὶ (and) αἷμα (blood) αὐτοῖς (to them) δέδωκας (You have given) πιεῖν* (to drink); ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).”

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) μεθύουσαν (being drunk) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) μαρτύρων (witnesses) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐθαύμασα (I marveled), ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὴν (her), θαῦμα (with wonder) μέγα (great).
