¹⁴ Καί (And) τις (a certain) γυνὴ (woman) ὀνόματι (named) Λυδία (Lydia), πορφυρόπωλις (a seller of purple) πόλεως (of the city) Θυατείρων (of Thyatira), σεβομένη (worshiping) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), ἤκουεν (was listening), ἧς (of whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) διήνοιξεν (opened) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) προσέχειν (to attend) τοῖς (to the things) λαλουμένοις (being spoken) ὑπὸ (by) ‹τοῦ› (-) Παύλου (Paul).

¹⁸ ἀνοῖξαι (to open) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them), τοῦ (that) ἐπιστρέψαι (they may turn) ἀπὸ (from) σκότους (darkness) εἰς (to) φῶς (light), καὶ (and) τῆς (from the) ἐξουσίας (power) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan) ἐπὶ (to) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), τοῦ (that) λαβεῖν (may receive) αὐτοὺς (they) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins) καὶ (and) κλῆρον (an inheritance) ἐν (among) τοῖς (those) ἡγιασμένοις (having been sanctified) πίστει (by faith) τῇ (that is) εἰς (in) ἐμέ (Me).’

¹⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἐπωρώθη (were hardened) τὰ (the) νοήματα (minds) αὐτῶν (of them). ἄχρι (Until) γὰρ (for) τῆς (the) σήμερον (present) ἡμέρας (day), τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) κάλυμμα (veil) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) ἀναγνώσει (reading) τῆς (of the) παλαιᾶς (old) διαθήκης (covenant) μένει (remains), μὴ (not) ἀνακαλυπτόμενον (being lifted), ὅτι (which) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) καταργεῖται (is being removed). ¹⁵ ἀλλ’ (But) ἕως (unto) σήμερον (this day), ἡνίκα (when) ἂν (-) ἀναγινώσκηται (shall be read) Μωϋσῆς (Moses), κάλυμμα (a veil) ἐπὶ (over) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) αὐτῶν (of them) κεῖται (lies). ¹⁶ ἡνίκα (Whenever) δὲ (however) ἐὰν (if) ἐπιστρέψῃ (one shall have turned) πρὸς (to) Κύριον (the Lord), περιαιρεῖται (is taken away) τὸ (the) κάλυμμα (veil). ¹⁷ Ὁ (The) δὲ (now) Κύριος (Lord) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμά (Spirit) ἐστιν (is); οὗ (where) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) Κυρίου (of the Lord is), ἐλευθερία (there is freedom). ¹⁸ ἡμεῖς (We) δὲ (now) πάντες (all), ἀνακεκαλυμμένῳ (having been unveiled) προσώπῳ (in face), τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) Κυρίου (of the Lord) κατοπτριζόμενοι (beholding as in a mirror), τὴν (the) αὐτὴν (same) εἰκόνα (image) μεταμορφούμεθα (are being transformed into), ἀπὸ (from) δόξης (glory) εἰς (to) δόξαν (glory), καθάπερ (even as) ἀπὸ (from) Κυρίου (the Lord), Πνεύματος (the Spirit).

⁴ ἐν (in) οἷς (whom) ὁ (the) θεὸς (god) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age) τούτου (this) ἐτύφλωσεν (has blinded) τὰ (the) νοήματα (minds) τῶν (of the) ἀπίστων (unbelieving), εἰς (so as for) τὸ (-) μὴ (not) αὐγάσαι (to beam forth) τὸν (the) φωτισμὸν (illumination) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ὅς (who) ἐστιν (is) εἰκὼν (the image) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁵ Οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ἑαυτοὺς (ourselves) κηρύσσομεν (do we proclaim), ἀλλὰ (but) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Κύριον (Lord); ἑαυτοὺς (ourselves) δὲ (now), δούλους (servants) ὑμῶν (of you), διὰ (for the sake of) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus). ⁶ ὅτι (For it is) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God), ὁ (-) εἰπών (having said), “Ἐκ (Out of) σκότους (darkness) φῶς (light) λάμψει (shall shine),” ὃς (who) ἔλαμψεν (shone) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ἡμῶν (of us) πρὸς (for the) φωτισμὸν (radiance) τῆς (of the) γνώσεως (knowledge) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) προσώπῳ (the face) [Ἰησοῦ] (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).

¹⁴ διὸ (Therefore) λέγει (it says): “Ἔγειρε (Awake you), ὁ (the one) καθεύδων (sleeping), καὶ (and) ἀνάστα (rise up) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) νεκρῶν (dead), καὶ (and) ἐπιφαύσει (will shine upon) σοι (you) ὁ (-) Χριστός (Christ).”

²⁰ οἴδαμεν (We know) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἥκει (is come), καὶ (and) δέδωκεν (has given) ἡμῖν (us) διάνοιαν (understanding), ἵνα (so that) γινώσκωμεν* (we may know) τὸν (Him who is) ἀληθινόν (true); καὶ (and) ἐσμὲν (we are) ἐν (in) τῷ (Him who is) ἀληθινῷ (true), ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστῷ (Christ). οὗτός (He) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἀληθινὸς (true) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (and) ζωὴ (life) αἰώνιος (eternal).

⁷ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to) ἀγγέλῳ (the messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Φιλαδελφείᾳ (Philadelphia) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the) ἅγιος (Holy One), ὁ (the) ἀληθινός (True One), ὁ (-) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) κλεῖν (key) Δαυίδ (of David), ὁ (the One) ἀνοίγων (opening) καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (no one) κλείσει (will shut), καὶ (and) κλείων (shutting) καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἀνοίγει (opens).
