¹ Τῇ (The) δὲ (however) μιᾷ (first day) τῶν (of the) σαββάτων (week), ὄρθρου (dawn) βαθέως (very early), ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) μνῆμα (tomb) ἦλθον (they came), φέρουσαι (bringing) ἃ (that) ἡτοίμασαν (they had prepared) ἀρώματα (spices).

⁵⁵ Ἦσαν (They were) δὲ (now) ἐκεῖ (there) γυναῖκες (women) πολλαὶ (many) ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar off), θεωροῦσαι (looking on), αἵτινες (who) ἠκολούθησαν (followed) τῷ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (Galilee), διακονοῦσαι (ministering) αὐτῷ (to Him), ⁵⁶ ἐν (among) αἷς (whom) ἦν (was) Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνή (Magdalene), καὶ (and) Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (the) τοῦ (-) Ἰακώβου (of James) καὶ (and) Ἰωσὴφ (Joseph) μήτηρ (mother), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) μήτηρ (mother) τῶν (of the) υἱῶν (sons) Ζεβεδαίου (of Zebedee).

¹ Ὀψὲ (After) δὲ (then) σαββάτων (the Sabbaths), τῇ (it) ἐπιφωσκούσῃ (being dawn) εἰς (toward) μίαν (the first day) σαββάτων (of the week), ἦλθεν (came) Μαριὰμ (Mary) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνὴ (Magdalene) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἄλλη (other) Μαρία (Mary), θεωρῆσαι (to see) τὸν (the) τάφον (tomb). ² Καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), σεισμὸς (an earthquake) ἐγένετο (there was) μέγας (great); ἄγγελος (an angel) γὰρ (for) Κυρίου (of the Lord), καταβὰς (having descended) ἐξ (out of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) προσελθὼν (having come), ἀπεκύλισεν (rolled away) τὸν (the) λίθον (stone) καὶ (and) ἐκάθητο (was sitting) ἐπάνω (upon) αὐτοῦ (it). ³ ἦν (Was) δὲ (now) ἡ (the) εἰδέα (appearance) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὡς (like) ἀστραπὴ (lightning), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ἔνδυμα (clothing) αὐτοῦ (of him) λευκὸν (white) ὡς (as) χιών (snow). ⁴ ἀπὸ (From) δὲ (now) τοῦ (the) φόβου (fear) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐσείσθησαν (trembled) οἱ (those) τηροῦντες (keeping guard) καὶ (and) ἐγενήθησαν (became) ὡς (as) νεκροί (dead men). ⁵ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) εἶπεν (said) ταῖς (to the) γυναιξίν (women), “Μὴ (Not) φοβεῖσθε (fear) ὑμεῖς (you); οἶδα (I know) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), τὸν (the One) ἐσταυρωμένον (having been crucified), ζητεῖτε (you seek). ⁶ οὐκ (Not) ἔστιν (He is) ὧδε (here); ἠγέρθη (He is risen) γὰρ (for), καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (He said). δεῦτε (Come), ἴδετε (see) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) ὅπου (where) ἔκειτο (He was lying). ⁷ καὶ (And) ταχὺ (quickly) πορευθεῖσαι (having gone), εἴπατε (say) τοῖς (to the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅτι (that) Ἠγέρθη (He is risen) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) νεκρῶν (dead) καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), προάγει (He goes before) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee); ἐκεῖ (there) αὐτὸν (Him) ὄψεσθε (you will see). ἰδοὺ (Behold), εἶπον (I have told) ὑμῖν (you).” ⁸ Καὶ (And) ἀπελθοῦσαι (having gone out) ταχὺ (quickly) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb) μετὰ (with) φόβου (fear) καὶ (and) χαρᾶς (joy) μεγάλης (great), ἔδραμον (they ran) ἀπαγγεῖλαι (to tell) τοῖς (the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁴⁰ Ἦσαν (There were) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) γυναῖκες (women) ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar off) θεωροῦσαι (looking on), ἐν (among) αἷς (whom) καὶ (also) Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνὴ (Magdalene), καὶ (and) Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (the) Ἰακώβου (of James) τοῦ (the) μικροῦ (least) καὶ (and) Ἰωσῆτος (of Joseph) μήτηρ (mother), καὶ (and) Σαλώμη (Salome),

¹ Καὶ (And) διαγενομένου (having passed) τοῦ (the) σαββάτου (Sabbath), Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνὴ (Magdalene), καὶ (and) Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (the mother) τοῦ (-) Ἰακώβου (of James), καὶ (and) Σαλώμη (Salome), ἠγόρασαν (bought) ἀρώματα (spices), ἵνα (that) ἐλθοῦσαι (having come), ἀλείψωσιν (they might anoint) αὐτόν (Him). ² καὶ (And) λίαν (very) πρωῒ (early) τῇ (on the) μιᾷ (first day) τῶν (of the) σαββάτων (week), ἔρχονται (they come) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) μνημεῖον* (tomb), ἀνατείλαντος (having arisen) τοῦ (the) ἡλίου (sun). ³ καὶ (And) ἔλεγον (they were saying) πρὸς (among) ἑαυτάς (themselves), “Τίς (Who) ἀποκυλίσει (will roll away) ἡμῖν (for us) τὸν (the) λίθον (stone) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) θύρας (door) τοῦ (of the) μνημείου (tomb)?” ⁴ καὶ (And) ἀναβλέψασαι (having looked up) θεωροῦσιν (they see) ὅτι (that) ἀποκεκύλισται* (has been rolled away) ὁ (the) λίθος (stone); ἦν (it was) γὰρ (for) μέγας (large) σφόδρα (extremely). ⁵ Καὶ (And) εἰσελθοῦσαι (having entered) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) μνημεῖον (tomb), εἶδον (they saw) νεανίσκον (a young man) καθήμενον (sitting) ἐν (on) τοῖς (the) δεξιοῖς (right), περιβεβλημένον (clothed in) στολὴν (a robe) λευκήν (white), καὶ (and) ἐξεθαμβήθησαν (they were greatly amazed). ⁶ ὁ (-) δὲ (And) λέγει (he says) αὐταῖς (to them), “Μὴ (Not) ἐκθαμβεῖσθε (be amazed). Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ζητεῖτε (you seek), τὸν (the) Ναζαρηνὸν (Nazarene), τὸν (the One) ἐσταυρωμένον (having been crucified). ἠγέρθη (He is risen)! οὐκ (Not) ἔστιν (He is) ὧδε (here)! ἴδε (Behold) ὁ (the) τόπος (place) ὅπου (where) ἔθηκαν (they laid) αὐτόν (Him). ⁷ ἀλλὰ (But) ὑπάγετε (go), εἴπατε (say) τοῖς (the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) τῷ (-) Πέτρῳ (to Peter) ὅτι (that) Προάγει (He goes before) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee); ἐκεῖ (there) αὐτὸν (Him) ὄψεσθε (will you see), καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (He said) ὑμῖν (to you).” ⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐξελθοῦσαι (having gone out), ἔφυγον (they fled) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb). εἶχεν (Had seized) γὰρ (for) αὐτὰς (them) τρόμος (trembling) καὶ (and) ἔκστασις (amazement), καὶ (and) οὐδενὶ (to none) οὐδὲν (nothing) εἶπαν (they spoke); ἐφοβοῦντο (they were afraid) γάρ (for).

² καὶ (and) γυναῖκές (women) τινες (certain) αἳ (who) ἦσαν (had been) τεθεραπευμέναι (cured) ἀπὸ (from) πνευμάτων (spirits) πονηρῶν (evil) καὶ (and) ἀσθενειῶν (infirmities): Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (who) καλουμένη (is called) Μαγδαληνή (Magdalene), ἀφ’ (from) ἧς (whom) δαιμόνια (demons) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἐξεληλύθει (had gone out); ³ καὶ (and) Ἰωάννα (Joanna) γυνὴ (wife) Χουζᾶ (of Chuza), ἐπιτρόπου (a steward) Ἡρῴδου (of Herod), καὶ (and) Σουσάννα (Susanna), καὶ (and) ἕτεραι (others) πολλαί (many), αἵτινες (who) διηκόνουν (were ministering) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the) ὑπαρχόντων (means) αὐταῖς (their own).

⁵⁵ Κατακολουθήσασαι (Having followed) δὲ (then), αἱ (the) γυναῖκες (women) αἵτινες (who) ἦσαν (were) συνεληλυθυῖαι (come) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (Galilee) αὐτῷ (with Him), ἐθεάσαντο (saw) τὸ (the) μνημεῖον (tomb) καὶ (and) ὡς (how) ἐτέθη (was laid) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ⁵⁶ ὑποστρέψασαι (Having returned) δὲ (then), ἡτοίμασαν (they prepared) ἀρώματα (spices) καὶ (and) μύρα (anointing oils). Καὶ (And) τὸ (on the) μὲν (indeed) σάββατον (Sabbath) ἡσύχασαν (they rested) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) ἐντολήν (commandment).

¹⁰ ἦσαν (It was) δὲ (now) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνὴ (Magdalene) Μαρία (Mary), καὶ (and) Ἰωάννα (Joanna), καὶ (and) Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (the mother) Ἰακώβου (of James), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) λοιπαὶ (other women) σὺν (with) αὐταῖς (them), ἔλεγον (telling) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (the) ἀποστόλους (apostles) ταῦτα (these things).

¹ Τῇ (-) δὲ (Now) μιᾷ (the first day) τῶν (of the) σαββάτων (week), Μαρία (Mary) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνὴ (Magdalene) ἔρχεται (comes) πρωῒ (early), σκοτίας (dark) ἔτι (still) οὔσης (it being), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) μνημεῖον (tomb), καὶ (and) βλέπει (she sees) τὸν (the) λίθον (stone) ἠρμένον (having been removed) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb). ² τρέχει (She runs) οὖν (therefore) καὶ (and) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) Σίμωνα (Simon) Πέτρον (Peter) καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) ἄλλον (other) μαθητὴν (disciple), ὃν (whom) ἐφίλει (loved) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), καὶ (and) λέγει (she says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἦραν (They have taken away) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) οἴδαμεν (we know) ποῦ (where) ἔθηκαν (they have laid) αὐτόν (Him).”
