¹⁰ ἐγένετο (He became) δὲ (then) πρόσπεινος (hungry) καὶ (and) ἤθελεν (desired) γεύσασθαι (to eat); παρασκευαζόντων (as were preparing) δὲ (however) αὐτῶν (they), ἐγένετο (fell) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) ἔκστασις (a trance),

² καὶ (And) νηστεύσας (having fasted) ἡμέρας (days) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) καὶ (and) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) νύκτας (nights), ὕστερον (afterward) ἐπείνασεν (He was hungry).

¹ Ἐν (At) ἐκείνῳ (that) τῷ (-) καιρῷ (time) ἐπορεύθη (went) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοῖς (on the) σάββασιν (Sabbaths) διὰ (through) τῶν (the) σπορίμων (grainfields), οἱ (-) δὲ (and) μαθηταὶ (the disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπείνασαν (were hungry), καὶ (and) ἤρξαντο (they began) τίλλειν (to pluck the) στάχυας (heads of grain) καὶ (and) ἐσθίειν (to eat). ² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) Φαρισαῖοι (the Pharisees), ἰδόντες (having seen), εἶπαν (said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), οἱ (the) μαθηταί (disciples) σου (of You) ποιοῦσιν (are doing) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) ἔξεστιν (it is lawful) ποιεῖν (to do) ἐν (on) σαββάτῳ (Sabbath).” ³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Οὐκ (Not) ἀνέγνωτε (you have read) τί (what) ἐποίησεν (did) Δαυὶδ (David) ὅτε (when) ἐπείνασεν (he was hungry), καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) —

¹⁸ Πρωῒ (In the morning) δὲ (then), ἐπανάγων* (having come back) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city), ἐπείνασεν (He became hungry).

¹⁷ Ἐγένετο (It happened) δέ (then) μοι (to me), ὑποστρέψαντι (having returned) εἰς (to) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), καὶ (and) προσευχομένου (praying) μου (of my) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἱερῷ (temple), γενέσθαι (fell) με (I) ἐν (into) ἐκστάσει (a trance)

² οἶδα (I know) ἄνθρωπον (a man) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ), πρὸ (ago) ἐτῶν (years) δεκατεσσάρων (fourteen)— εἴτε (whether) ἐν (in) σώματι (the body), οὐκ (not) οἶδα (I know), εἴτε (or) ἐκτὸς (out of) τοῦ (the) σώματος (body), οὐκ (not) οἶδα (I know), ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) οἶδεν (knows)— ἁρπαγέντα (having been caught up) τὸν (-) τοιοῦτον (such a man) ἕως (to) τρίτου (the third) οὐρανοῦ (heaven). ³ καὶ (And) οἶδα (I know) τὸν (-) τοιοῦτον (such) ἄνθρωπον (a man)— εἴτε (whether) ἐν (in) σώματι (the body) εἴτε (or) χωρὶς (out of) τοῦ (the) σώματος (body), οὐκ (not) οἶδα (I know), ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) οἶδεν (knows)— ⁴ ὅτι (that) ἡρπάγη (he was caught up) εἰς (into) τὸν (-) Παράδεισον (Paradise), καὶ (and) ἤκουσεν (he heard) ἄρρητα (inexpressible) ῥήματα (words), ἃ (-) οὐκ (not) ἐξὸν (being permitted) ἀνθρώπῳ (to man) λαλῆσαι (to speak).

¹⁰ ἐγενόμην (I was) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) ἐν (on) τῇ (the) κυριακῇ (Lord’s) ἡμέρᾳ (day), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὀπίσω (behind) μου (me) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (loud), ὡς (like that) σάλπιγγος (of a trumpet),

² εὐθέως (Immediately) ἐγενόμην (I was) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), θρόνος (a throne) ἔκειτο (was set) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) καθήμενος (One sitting), ³ καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ὅμοιος (was like) ὁράσει (in appearance) λίθῳ (stone), ἰάσπιδι (jasper) καὶ (and) σαρδίῳ (sardius). καὶ (And) ἶρις (a rainbow) κυκλόθεν (was around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), ὅμοιος (like) ὁράσει (in appearance) σμαραγδίνῳ (an emerald).
