1 When Jesus had spoken these things, he went out with his disciples beyond the brook Kedron, where was. a garden, which he and his disciples entered.
2 And Judas, who delivered him up, also knew the place, because Jesus often went thither with his disciples.
3 Judas, then, having received the band of soldiers and attendants from the chief priests and Pharisees, came thither with torches and lamps and weapons.
4 Then Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and said to them: Whom do you seek?
5 They answered him: Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus said to them: I am he. Judas, also, who delivered him up, was standing among them.
6 Then, when he said to them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Then he asked them again: "Whom do you seek? They said: Jesus the Nazarene.
8 Jesus answered: I have told you that I am he. If, then, you seek me, let these go away.
9 This he said, that the word might be fulfilled which he had spoken: Of those whom thou hast given me; I have lost none.
10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, and struck the servant of the chief priest, and cut off his right ear. The name of the servant was Malchus.
11 Then Jesus said to Peter: Put up your sword into its scabbard. Shall I not drink the cup that my Father has given me?
