¹ The word which came to Jeremiah from LORD, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were carried away captive to Babylon.

¹⁷ And his return was to Ramah, for his house was there. And there he judged Israel, and there he built an altar to LORD.

⁶ God sets the lonely in families. He brings out the prisoners into prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

¹¹ Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying, ¹² Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm, but do to him even as he shall say to thee. ¹³ So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushazban, Rab-saris, and Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon. ¹⁴ And they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home. So he dwelt among the people.

⁶ And when Herod was about to bring him forth, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound by two chains. And guards in front of the door guarded the prison. ⁷ And behold, an agent of the Lord stood near, and light shone in the room. And after striking the side of Peter, he raised him up, saying, Get up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

¹³ And Paul answered, What are ye doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I fare ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

²⁰ Because of this reason therefore I summoned you to see and to speak with me, for because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in bondage, so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
