Deuteronomy 29:24-28

24 even all the nations shall say, Why has LORD done thus to this land? What is the meaning of the heat of this great anger? 25 Then men shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of LORD, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, 26 and went and served other gods, and worshiped them, gods that they knew not, and that he had not given to them. 27 Therefore the anger of LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book. 28 And LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.

Lamentations 2:15-17

15 All who pass by clap their hands at thee. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? 16 All thine enemies have opened their mouth wide against thee. They hiss and gnash the teeth. They say, We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found, we have seen it. 17 LORD has done that which he purposed. He has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of old. He has thrown down, and has not pitied. And he has caused the enemy to rejoice over thee. He has exalted the horn of thine adversaries.
