Matthew 23:28-38

Worrell(i) 28 So ye also outwardly, indeed, appear righteous to men; but within ye are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. 29 "Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and adorn the tombs of the righteous, and say, 30 'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' 31 So then ye testify to yourselves that ye are sons of those who killed the prophets; 32 and fill ye up the measure of your fathers. 33 Serpents! broods of vipers! How can ye escape the judgment of Hell? 34 Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city; 35 that upon you may come all the righteous blood poured out upon the earth, from the blood of Abel, the righteous, unto the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. 36 Verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. 37 Jerusalem! Jerusalem! that kills the prophets, and stones those sent to her! how often did I wish to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate!
