John 6:5-15

Williams(i) 5 So Jesus looked up and saw that a vast crowd was coming toward Him, and said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?" 6 He was saying this to test him for He knew Himself what He was going to do. 7 Philip answered Him, "Forty dollars' worth of bread is not enough to give them all even a scanty meal apiece." 8 Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him, 9 "There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and a couple of fish, but what are they among so many?" 10 Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was plenty of grass at the spot; so the men, about five thousand, threw themselves down. 11 Then Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks, and distributed them among the people who were sitting on the ground; so too with the fish as much as they wanted. 12 When they had plenty, He said to His disciples, "Pick up the pieces that are left, that nothing be wasted." 13 So they picked them up and filled twelve baskets with the pieces that were left from the five barley loaves, which were more than the eaters wanted. 14 When the people, therefore, saw the wonder-works that He performed, they began to say, "This is surely the prophet who was to come into the world." 15 So when Jesus learned that they were going to come and carry Him off by force to crown Him king, He again retired to the hill by Himself.
