Williams⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁴⁹ But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing about this; ⁵⁰ you do not take into account that it is for your own welfare that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should be destroyed." ⁵¹ Now he did not say this on his own authority, but because he was high priest that year he uttered this prophecy from God, that Jesus was to die for the nation, ⁵² and not only for the nation, but also to unite the scattered children of God.
