Whiston(i)
And the chief priests and the whole council sought for witness against Jesus that they might put him to death; and found none.
For many bare false witness and spake against him, but their testimony did not agree.
And others arose, and bare false witness against him, saying,
We heard him say, I will destroy the temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will raise up another made without hands.
But neither so did their testimony agree.
And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answereth thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. The high priest said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
But Jesus answered and saith to him, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, with the clouds of heaven.
But the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need have we any farther of witnesses?
Ye have heard his blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
And some began to spit on his face, and they buffeted him, and said unto him, Prophesie: and they struck him with the palms of their hands.
